Best top 100 I've ever seen. Only catch is the lack of stuff like SMB3, Yoshi's Island and Dark Souls II thanks to the rules they put in place.

I think this list sucks for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is that it is ridiculously biased towards the modern. The post that compared it to the IMDb film list was spot on; if you throw a bunch of people without a real understanding of the full breadth of the medium into a task like this, this is the kind of list you'll get.

Either way these top 100 lists are always bad and this one seems like the worst.

Nah, Silent Hill 3 and/or 2 should definitely be on this list. That's just one of many things wrong with it.

Obviously it's subjective, like any critical peace in game coverage. However it does in my opinion lack the depth I would expect in a list of 100 ''best'' games. The biggest flaw in this list is that it doesn't tie in with 'EDGE' magazines published impressions. Several games they have given 10/10 scores are given lesser spots on the list than games they have given 9's and even 8's to. Yes, new writers with differing opinions changed things, but it's so jarring and inconsistant.

You can't ignore or separate the context of that game's embarrassing launch months from its current state. At least I can't. It's the most broken game I've ever played. And it kept being throughly broken for months. If I could play for more than an hour without it crashing, that'd be a good day. That game should live on in infamy, not get praised as "The 66th Greatest Video Game". That's just not right.

Personal favorites are serious business.

Thinking on this "some dumb list" it is a little odd it's a "greatest ever" type list that is based on their arbitrary view of which games still "hold up" which seems to somewhat invalidate the whole list IMHO - like decided to list best films ever (which is a similarly dumb idea) but first deciding to exclude all black and white films because hey that probably doesn't hold up anymore.

But yeah - no point blowing a valve in your heart over a list like this.
