Wii Music should be F, F-, Z
Fallout 3 should be B's, while Dead Space should get the A's
Fable 2 is B+ for me, much better than Fable 1's D.

Edit the scores and then send me a new issue, thanks Ziff Davis.
Hi, I'm Amir0x and my opinion is fact.

What did they say about NFS Undercover? And how did Midnight Club LA score compared to Undercover? Didn't it get a B- or something like that?

Undercover reviewed by John. Feels like a greatest hits package of NFS since Underground. Has cars from Carbon and the cop gameplay from Most Wanted. You can free roam or jump to a race instantly through menus. Difficulty ramps up high with aggressive cop AI, as well as opponents. It could deter people from progressing at a certain point. The game introduces a leveling system that requires 'grinding.' Leveling boosts your driver skills and your ability to buy upgrades and cars. If you have enough cash to upgrade but a low level, you can't buy it unless you want to use real money (cue MS points screenshot). So you can grind or microtransact you way through the game.

survival horror game, over the top gore and psychological

over the top gore and psychological

these terms, in this context, are mutually exclusive.

I trust cliffb to make a fun shooter, but I don't expect that he'll be able to scare me, ever.

Of course, due to the near-death of survival horror, I'd be thrilled to be proved wrong.

I get the feeling that SE doesn`t want to show their wii stuff, before they ship their big next-gen games like so4 and ff13 - seems like they still believe in HD victory and that they can get along with non-existant wii support...

Well waiting for 2010 to release something on Wii might be a little too late. It could still have about 1 year left of lifetime in Japan, if the rumors of the next Nintendo console being in 2011 are true.

And for the rest of the world, after a localization process, the game well could be just behind the next console's launch, so that could hurt on sales.

Besides SE is letting escape a big opportunity of reuse their old PS2 engines, they well could have been making some seuels or spinoffs from PS2 titles and releasing them on the Wii, the market is there to be exploited and no one but Namco and Marvelous are going to exploit it.

Reusing their existing engines would as well helped them to fund their HD games, big budget portable games, and help preparing them towards next-gen, which they should already be looking into.

Might have just been a big overlook from SE, or we just might get surprised and they will show a couple of decent games for Wii next month at the Jump Festa.

Endwar so low ? GT gave the game a far higher score...still bitter about the ac/ubi disaster last year ?

-_-

End War is simply a proof of concept. If Ubisoft gives Massive the freedom to consider that technology and the time to create at the level Massive is capable of... THEN we'll have the console RTS that can bring the whole package together.

Tom Clancy's: WiC for consoles has HUGE potential. End War is a poor man's Ground Control imo.

Strange there's that much distribution on banjo kazooie

It's not that surprising to me. I played the demo and in my opinion it did everything wrong and I really, really didn't like it. It seems like the sort of game where some people really love it and some people really hate it.

Wait, so they bitched about the difficulty, too? :lol

It's not there fault they read GAF and were told LBP wasn't going to be popular, they just weren't prepared!

Actually, if they went by GAF, they would have rented out NASA's data center for the launch.

Guitar Hero World Tour: Shows amazing amount of polish. Drum peripheral can't be beat.

Not to start any flamefests or anything, but I'm seriously puzzled by this. Even the game's staunchest defenders wouldn't claim this.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

This stupid rumor's not even true. Also, stop being such a fucking baby.

I don`t know if it`s true or not - it still sucks that there is no information on the title. After the trailer at the se party 07 i expected it to be a holiday 08 title.

Endwar controls like WiC + Unit cards (pretty similar to Wic though) + voice commands.
Endwar is onto the right thing for console strategy controls, WiC just does everything outside of that better (I think it's a good thing Ubisoft picked up the dev for future console strategy games).

Some interesting notes on Suda51 interview:
-Wants to see Grasshopper as a worldwide developer rather than a Japanese developer, to the same level as Bungie, Valve, Criterion, Harmonix and Epic.

He's got a ways to go still, but nice to know he has lofty goals.

-When creating games, inspired by music, movies, television or porn

:lol

-He's following the philosophy of creating small games until creating a big brand and breakthrough game. Believes his next game will be the huge hit.

Is he referring to NMH2?

-Grasshopper can be considered a brand. Looks forward to the day he can create sequels.

Apparently not. I guess he didn't realize that this would be printed following the announcement of NMH2?

So far I've been correct about Red Steel's, Mushroom Men's, and ToS 2's eventual suckitude.

Next up: Ghostbusters and The Conduit.

Dead Space: B+, B-, B+
Little Big Planet: A+, A, A
Saints Row 2: B, B-, B+
Motorstorm Pacific Rift: A-, A, B+

These are correct. I would even throw an A in there for SR2. Good to see MS2 get some overdue appreciation, the game is fucking great.

Thanks!

I can't blame him for that. You have to wonder if they'll review it again when the patch is released and extend to it the same courtesy that they're going to give SOCOM.

Not likely. I was so shocked that they re-reviewed Socom.

Hey, don't you say a bad word about my husband!

That said, I kind of agree. What the hell did happen with the game? Can they possibly be pushing it even more? They have to have something planned for the wii, but what is keeping them from waiting? A FF13 wii?

Wow, someone actually gave Dead Space a B-? This is why reviews mean shit nowadays. I only look at them now to see the length of a game.

All of the amazing impressions in the 98834 post Dead Space official thread here at GAF >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> professional reviewers.

That's because you apparently spend your time running around like a headless chicken that likes to complain about poor Wii software support instead of paying attention. The game is not cancelled.

1: GAF never goes OTT about games ever, and certainly never overhypes them.
2: Posting negative impressions in an official thread is a good idea, and is always a smart thing to do.

Wow at how divided some of these reviews are. There are a handful of big titles there that have an A, B AND C rating.

SE support for Wii has been week til now imo, no discussion there. Their upcoming lineup for the platform also don`t show any highlight. I hope it isn`t canceled, thats all, after all i believe in dragonas words :D

That would totally make sense.

They told Kawazu, scrap Crystal Bearers, and get an Action-RPG for the Fabula Nova Crystallis project done.

Hmm...I'm not sure if this is a sarcastic post, but you can expect everything to happen these days :p

To be honest, that would be more or less in line with my expectations. They haven't ported the Crystal Tools just for fun, they could use a big Wii game, and a Wii title that's part of FNC/ FFXIII might help the brand in Japan. Maybe it still is Crystal Bearers (more or less - same team, same basic concepts), but reworked once again from the ground up, with a different scenario and title.

I don't know why would you think I'm being sarcastic :( I'm usualy serious about SE stuff lol. But let's believe in charlequin, and hopefully the game will be shown next month.

However, now I would like a Kawazu game for the FNC project.

There are still 3 undisclosed games (Actually I think 2 if one of them is Haeresis) from the original project target shown back in 2006

fnccompilationtitles.jpg

Having 2 (or 3) spots open, and given the statement that SE wants different directos to work on different games of the project, it isn't too far-fetched to think that the CC team (Kawazu) was given one game.

See? I wasn't being sarcastic :(

The Conduit will be above average with wonderful controls and great-for-Wii technical visuals. That's my expecatations, anyway, and that's a huge improvement over most FPSs on the console.

I'm really curious about the Tecmo Bowl scores. Did it get those scores because there are flaws in the game that make it only average, or was it a case of people not being able to appreciate the more old-school style and gameplay?

Ken Masters said:
how is this possible? The game looks and plays incredibly dated and has been nothing more then roster updates with minor changes for years. SvR has made the Madden franchise look like little big planet in terms of innovation.

I can't at all say this from personal experience, but I've heard a few rumbling that a lot of game engine stuff was actually, finally fixed/changed. Again, don't take my word for it, just repeating what I've heard. I may have heard wrong.

Sorry sorry! We have a lot of sarcastic people here, so I get a little confused sometimes.

It might be it, we're just going to have to wait I'm afraid. It sounds really awesome. They would be the ones to use the full power of the wii on a nova crystal universe. It would certainly make many fans happy.

I agree with this completely. This isn't 1996 anymore, video games take a LONG time to make now. Even games that were planned early in the Wii's life have yet to be released (Fragile, Oboro Muramasa Youtoden) or have just been released (ToS DoTnW). And neither of those are really "big budgeted games" imagine how long a game the caliber of Nintendo's games would take? And for the PS3/360 its even worse. DMC4 and MGS4 finally saw release this year after being announced practically as long as the platforms themselves, and don't even get me started on Final Fantasy XIII.

My point is that it takes FAR longer to develop games in this day in age. And it is probably very well a reality that developers are developing big name games for the Wii now especially since third parties are following Nintendo's wing of "announcing games a mere few months before their release" as shown with Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Tenchu IV, Kizuna, etc. Not to mention the games that have been leaked that are not yet announced such as Hudson's survival horror game and Izuna Eleven Wii from Level 5. I mean hell EA just said that they JUST started to shift their support to the Wii not too long ago. This isn't because they just realized it but more so that they had to finish all of the games they were already developing in the first place.

So if Nintendo is supporting the Wii for a long time like they say then don't expect all the meat to come until at least another year (3-4 years to create the average big game). Or they can release big games at the tip of the Wii's life cycle and start fresh and early on the Wii's successor.

Rumors:
-Little Big Planet getting Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy content packs. Official Disney LBP content to be revealed in 2009 (Steamboat Willie could be the first Disney content)
-LBP PSP version in 2009. "...fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience."

FatGuyLovein.gif

Wow, I mean, WOW. That just may keep me from selling the PSP aside from the two games I actually own for the system (Patapon and Fan Fiction...errmm...I mean FFVII: Crisis Core)

And a Steamboat Willie level as DLC would be really fantastic.

Pretty good review scores for the games I want. But I'm very sad that Crystal Bearers appears to be cancelled. I have no intrest what so ever in that other game that I guess is taking it's place. Crystal Bearers looked really cool. Bummer

LittleBigPlanet PSP could work, but there's a lot of shit they need to cut out, like the right analog controls for hand waving and the tilting controls that control Sackboy's head. But the actual gameplay seems suited for a handheld.
