EGM review scores & new rumors

Isn't that Full Auto?

I mean one thats being made by one of their Japanese teams. Full Auto is being published by them but really isn't part of Sega in game development, right? I'd go ape shit if we got one of Sega's traditional racers for launch. If not I'm sure the PS3 or Revolution may get one. I'd rather have the X360 get something from their camp since its coming this year. I've never been a Ridge Racer fan. I've sat down and played most of them but the power sliding technique that Namco uses turns me off alot.

So Sega...c'mon baby, bring back the goods here:)

Visual Concepts making a game starring Hall of Famers
Hmm I remember somebody here posting this a bit back as a wish... I pretty much disregarded it then.... that's alot of legwork VC has/had to do to get Hall of Famers approvals...

Ridge Racer heading to Xbox 360 at launch (!!!)
+1 purchase

PS2: A-
PSP: B

I get the PS2 one... lots of good titles like Genji and such coming down the pipe... but the PSP gets a B?!?!?! What did I miss?

I think they should do FF7 with real time combat.

Well...there's another reason for me to dislike you....

The A- rating for the oppressive mass of end-of-cycle shovelware known as the PS2 line-up is hilarious.

Well... as others have already pointed out... you don't have a clue what you're talking about....

But if Solid Snake is running around showing off his converse while listening to his iPod, I'll have a problem.
This battle with The End is brought to you by Viagra because there are better ways to die

This battle with Ocelot is brought to you by the NRA, because guns dont kill people unless you receive several bullets in the head

This battle with The Boss is brought to you by Xbox 360, because if we cant get the game we'll at least get in it

Isn't that for japanese launch, there are already too many car games for US launch; PGR, NFSU, Full Auto, Test Drive, possibly Burnout

Mark said they took into account that they got to see GTA PSP.

I think by the "also had" and the laughie (remember- laughing at your own jokes is COOL) that he was saying that they all sucked or that it brought the list down.

I didn't even know it was at E3 until I checked Sony's E3 page.

Is that not the game where you go around trying to kiss as many people as you can? I read about it like... 2 years ago.

It's coming here? If so, any idea from who and where? (Sony, I would gather, since you mention from their E3 webpage.)

Ah hell, I'll just go check around and find out. :D

I'm more interested in this game than most of the other "Mainstream" games like GTA and stuff. At least it's some original concept.

Anyway, glad to know it's still coming. :)

Che on Conker:

"Its level designs feel outdated....Graphical polish can't disguise tedious collect-a-thons and and an abundance of cheap deaths."

And this is the guy that gave it an 8 :D

"tedious collect-a-thons" :lol :lol :lol

It's one of the only Rare games that has NO collect-a-thons!!! The only items you need to collect occasionally is chocolate to regain health! OMG every game with health restoration items is a collect-a-thon!!!!!!!!!!!111

Am I the only one who always thought Coded Arms would turn out mediocre? I didn't read/see anything special about it.

E3 REPORT CARD

PS2: A-
Xbox: C-
Gamecube: C-
PSP: B
NDS: B+
GBA: D
Buh? Why'd GBA get a "D"? It had a sleek new redesign plus tons of great games (Gunstar Superheroes, Metal Slug 1, Screw Breaker, Rebelstar, MMBN5, MM Zero 4, Riviera, Fire Emblem TSS, Wario Ware Twisted, Dynasty Warriors, Mario Tennis, Harvest Moon, Scurge, Sigma Star Saga, Pirate Battle, Racing Gears 2, etc). GBA had a better E3 than Xbox, GameCube or PSP really. :/

Dont' forget

Genji
Socom III
Tales of Legendia
Shadow Hearts 3 (it will come!)

I <3 this shovelware lineup.

I'd like to add:

Fatal Frame 3
Onimusha 4
Devil Kings
Jak X
Sly 3
Radiata Stories

Killer 7 (ps2/GC) - 5.5/5/6
Destroy All Humans (xb/ps2) - 7/7.6/6.5
Conker Live and Reloaded (XB) - 5/7/8
Advent Rising (XB) - 4.5/4/6.5

Sucky scores...But depending on the person, any four of these games will make worthy additions to your library. For me, Killer 7 and Conker are definites.

Kirby Canvas Curse(DS) - 8.5/9/9
Bomberman DS (DS) - 8/6.5/8
Meteos (DS) - 9/9/9
Coded Arms (PSP) 4/6/3.5

Awesome scores...Especially Meteos, which along with Lumines makes up my two favorite puzzle games of all time. Sad to see Coded Arms bomb though. I'm still waiting for a worthwhile PSP game to come out since launch.

GTA:SA (XB) - 9/9/9.5 (TIE GOTM)
Conker Live and Reloaded (XB) - 5/7/8

Xbox: C-

It will be very interesting to see how the XBox hardware sales for the next several months. The last of the first party trio of games is now out (Forza, Jade Empire, & Conker) and so is GTA:SA, Doom 3, & Splinter Cell.

The only "huge" exclusive game left I can think of is Half-Life 2, although I still expect the big multiplatform titles to sell pretty well (Madden, Burnout, NCAA, etc).

Does the public at large know that the Xbox development has come to a semi-halt or not. And will Microsoft do big marketing pushes for the next 5-6 months before the 360 hits for the original system?

I feel it is definitely worth mentioning again, but

NDS: B+
PSP: B

WTF?!?!?!?? I mean seriously, what? the? fuck?

also disappointed that a football update and yet another GTA outscored Kirby and Meteos, two of the most original and fun games I have ever played in my gaming life. note I am not bitching about Kirby's or Meteos' scores, just that those two games scored better.

oh wait, this was EGM. missed that. my bad.

NCAA Footbal '06 (XB/PS2) - 9.5/9/9 (TIE GOTM)
GTA:SA (XB) - 9/9/9.5 (TIE GOTM)

I don't know if this says more about the sad state of the video game industry or the sad state of the media that covers it. It makes me all warm and fuzzy to know that two fucking rehashes are tied for the game of the month. What happened to the EGM that used to call Capcom out for doing this same shit with Street Fighter. Oh wait they still bitch when Capcom does it, but when EA or Rockstar do it they are rewarded with game of the month scores. Pretty fucking pathetic.

NDS: B+
PSP: B

This is just as bad. I guess they have to save face for bashing the DS the past months and drooling over the PSP so they couldn't give the PSP the score it deserved.

Well, MGS still has two 1st party releases coming (Half-Life II and Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes). Conker was the final internally produced game though.

I think the flood of multiplatform stuff from EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc will be enough to satiate the Xbox base though, at least for the rest of this year. In the exclusives deprtment Xbox is really lacking compared to PS2 or even GameCube really though.

It's called 2nd party, jarrod, 2nd party !
Yeah, I know it annoys you ;)

If one game is enough to save the PSP score, why wasn't Zelda enough to save the GC score? :P

Please. EGM was declaring the handheld war over two months before the PSP came out. It's not like they can realistically judge the system now, and not make themselves look like a pack of fanboys in love with its design. Of course they gave it a "B."

The PSP had good games at E3. You just had to look all over the freaking place to find them. I'd probably have given it a B- and the DS an A-. The GBA got ripped as well.

Spot on.

Not just EGM, but a huge chunk of Ziff Davis Editors (especially Jon Davison). Thank-god for people lile Toastyfrog, who understood that a portable was more than a nice screen.

Not that I don't think PSP is cool or has some potential, but NDS just blew it away. EGM does not deserve to wear that uniform.

I never said there weren't any good PSP games. Every piece of hardware on that list had a few good games at E3.

To be fair though, GameCube also had a decent selection of "filler" exclusives if you looked around (Fire Emblem, Mario Strikers, Chibirobo, Sonic Gems, Harvest Moon, WWE, etc) and lots of multiplatform stuff still (EA Sports, Call of Duty 2, Killer 7, One Piece, POP3, Starcraft Ghost, THAW, NFS HP, Sims 2, etc). The GC/PSP situations seem almost identical actually, one industry shaking killer app surrounded by a good amount of decent (if unexciting) filler content. In fact, I think GameCube actually had slightly more games at E3 than PSP did...

bah
Namco always does a good job pushing the consoles power at launch.

But I was kind of hoping Ridge Racer would be made from the ground up for PS3 launch.

That's surprising about Metroid Prime Hunters. Most of the stuff I read said that the game was vastly improved over previous demos. I guess it could be argued that's still "terrible."

As for Fire Emblem and Chibi-Robo being so-so.. Zuh?

Yay for Stubbs the Zombie! And Dragon Quest, and Katamari!

Awesome?! Just Good?! So-So?!

Pardon the cliche, but I just have to say: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

EGM call Fire Emblem FE "lackluster" saying "little is new...despite the added power of a full home console". They admit Chibi Robo's control and graphics are funky but say you can't have much fun with a toothbrush??? Imho absurd, its like saying you can't have fun with rings in a game with a hedgehog in '91 or pipes in a game with a plumber in '84.

Tomb Raider Legend is likened to PoP.

With Rainbow 6: Lockdown EGM slate the PS2 version in the text but say the Xbox version seems worthy.

Burnout: Revenge is said to be easier and not the same step up that B2 to B3 saw.

The complaints about Shadow of Colossus centre around the technical problems: framerate and collision detection.
