EGM rumor: Next Need for Speed logo? (Criterion, Underground Reboot)

Is it me or are the letters corresponding to the locations?

R = Rome
G = Greece
E = England

Although the U looks like London Bridge so maybe it was a coincidence.

Criterion only takes the popular NFS brands from the past, the actual NFS game they've made so far have little resemblance to those original games, pretty disappointing so far, specially with Most Wanted. their games are pretty lifeless and boring grind, it's like taking Burnout and removing all the 60fps and crashes...

Please bring more Car Customizations... Criterion, don't just focus on multiplayers/autologs which you are already good at.

I can imagine EA would micro-transactioning the hell of it already...

So is the plan to basically have Criterion make a whole new series of NFS games with the titles of the old ones, with only tenuous links to the originals aside from the title?

If this goes batshit insane with car customization, then it's a worthy reboot of NFS because lets face it - that was the main feature of the Underground series, if not - then it's just another Criterion racing game with the NFS name and a previous game's subtitle.

I'm guessing it's just going to be like MW2012 but we'll see...

I hope it's actually like Underground 2, not the most recent Most Wanted. That felt more like a Burnout to me.

Kind of.

I think Criterion's games are at halfway house where they don't really satisfy the wants of the Burnout fans or the Need for Speed fans. It's a weird situation to be in. Both Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit were these weird hybrid games where they kind of didn't even really scratch a Burnout or Need for Speed itch.

Plus I don't really feel Criterion have ever really nailed the actual driving aspect of their games. The handling is never quite right.

This is kind of how I feel about both of those games.

I thought the handling in Hot Pursuit was kind-of interesting though.

Underground 1 & 2 are easily the best in the series IMO, Criterion just better bring back full customization, and I mean on par with the previous 2 Underground games, if not more.

Criterion racing game?

Underground?

Of all top level complaints I could have, I hope they'll actually throw some actual car modding back in.

Loved the Underground games and would definitely pick this up but I hope someday Criterion goes back to Burnout. Most Wanted was fun but I'd much rather have Paradise 2 or something.

drive around a city looking for races? I don't know ..that is why i am asking.

Hot Pursuit doesn't take place in a city and isn't an open world racer (although you can drive around freely if you chose). Much more focus on exotics and sportscars.

Most Wanted is like Burnout Paradise. Drive around a city, looking for races.

The Underground games had a strong focus on import tuners and customisation. Underground wasn't a city racer, but 2 was.

This will be incredible if they build upon the previous Underground games.

I absolutely loved the drag races and incredible levels of customisation. Lets hope they don't ruin it.

Can there PLEASE be full-blown customization this time? I want to put ugly decals and vinyls on my cars, to me that's half the fun of an underground racer. Also, more varied car selection. Heck, just look at Midnight Club: LA for guidance, Criterion.

I hate both past NFS Underground, its all what NFS is not about, need for speed is about exotic cars chased by cops, that has been since begining, not that lame F&F cash-in horrible tunning style game.

Truth. I love Burnout. I love NFS. But they're both meant to be different styles of racing. The past two NFS games by Criterion (particularly the latter for me) just felt like a halfway hybrid of both and they don't mix all too well. Serviceable, but not great gameplay.
