EGX: How terrifying is Alien Isolation?

Having played the game today at EGX (not on a rift, unfortunately), I sadly have to say I didn't find it remotely terrifying. There's just something inherently not-scary about seeing the alien patrol around on foot, it doesn't look or feel right at all for the character.

When it's jumping in and out of vents though, that actually works. It's just a shame that, at least from what I saw, there was far more of the former than the latter.

The Alien in the game is based on the original. In the original movie the Alien takes physically and mentally from the host. The original Xenomorph is more unnerving than any other version because it does things that a human being would do mixed in with the otherness of the Alien. The Alien species perverts humanity, from how it is formed to the end result, the Xenomorph.

Could be my first movie/tv license game since Escape From Butcher Bay.

GoodGod, jaw to the floor.
How incredible is that part from the preorder content where you can hear Sigourney Weaver's lines from the movie, and then you realize they're not the exact same lines, they're completely new. With an art direction that tight and that true to the original, and the support of the original cast you almost get the feeling of watching deleted scenes from Ridley's movie.

The art direction and sound design are so tight, it's absolutely incredible. I'd even go so far and say it's pretty much unparalleled in how close this looks, feels, and sounds to the source material.

The dynamic score is to die for. How far atmosphere building in games has come!!

I've liked all the prior content, but what they showed in this video was just on another level.

Please be good. goddammit.

I recently saw Alien start to finish like 2 months ago (when I was a lot younger I saw like 20 mintues of it was too scared of it and never went back). Instantly it is one of my favourite movies of all time. I am so happy CA recognized the true star of Alien; the environment. The Nostromo is what makes Alien so incredible because it facilitates the atmosphere/ immersion literally everything else in the movie.

It's good CA recognized how vital this was.

Hopefully a demo comes. I'll wait for reviews but I wont buy this until I'm done with Outlast. Cant be playing two games like this at once.

This game basically made me crap myself at EGX. Everyone i talked to said they just died constantly at it too which made me less embarassed about being shit at it :D

Might give it a buy, not sure yet

Yep, this was the surprise game for me at EGX. Went from 'meh, let's give this a go' to HOLY SHITEROO. In the brief 10 mins playthrough I had, it was awesome. And I died every time.

Sounds a bit like a The Evil Within turnaround. Awesome. But was it the feeling of the alien that could kill you at any moment that made it scary or something else?
