I always thought that Emma's star power was vastly overstated. People conflate her notoriety as a feminist with her fame from acting and just assume that those two make her a bankable star. In reality people who may like her as a feminist don't have to like her as an acting, more likely, they are completely indifferent to her acting wise.

Having seen this movie I can say it's not undeserved. It's a pretty weird movie about a pretty weird place, and no amount of star power can make a movie about some sort of weird ass, Amish, woman hating cult, led by a paedophile do superhero box office smash numbers.

She's a little boy in a B-Cup who has profited from JK Rowling's ability to write heart-warming tween books. I'm not surprised by this news.

urthermore, the film opened in only three theaters in the U.K., with a simultaneous home-streaming release. And given how expensive it is for Brits to go to the movies (nearly $20 a ticket in some London theaters), it’s probable that many Emma Watson fans opted to watch Colonia on their laptops instead.

That's still a really pathetic total, even from three cinemas. And London is the one place you'd think would eat this sort of shit up.

I would blame the films marketing team, i did not see a single ad or marketing piece for this film at all. First time im hearing about it is here on gaf

wait a minute, so the movie made $61 in theatres? Like in 1,2,3,4,...59,60,61 individual dollars? So it sold like 4 tickets? Is that even possible?

If she gets some of that box office she'll have the oportunity to evade like 10c in taxes! Panama here we go!

I didn't like it and I had high expectations because of how shocking all the events surrounding Colonia Dignidad are.

All the chileans talking and giving speeches in english in the middle of Santiago makes no sense and took me out of the movie. Those people were supporting socialism and were directly fighting the influence from the US. It looked so dumb.

That's just one example. In general It felt like a really fake story inside a real one.
