Enemies In Gaming That Make You Go "Nope!"

FF7____Oh_geez__tonberry______by_hylianknight246.jpg

L1 and R1 lol

Bloodborne has so many, especially in Chalice Dungeons:
- the spiders
- the red spiders
- the brainsuckers
- the bloodsucking ticks
- the shrieking black metal guys that move in fast-foward
- the singing brains
- the hellhounds that generally accompany the Keepers
- the caskets full of skulls in Unseen Village

And, worst of them all, the #1 most awful NOPE enemy of the game:

Hahaha that is adorable.

I'm not recognizing this one...what enemy is this?

Not exactly the scary-kind of "nope" but the first time I saw Frampt in DaS was probably one of the creepiest things I saw in a while and he kept being pretty unsettling for his whole first dialogue even though at that point I realized he wasn't an enemy.

Malboros in Final Fantasy games are always a no. I've not played FFXIV but the look alone has increasing amounts of "FUCK. NO. RUN AWAY." than in other games.

I think I told this story before, but I accidentally switched two letters in my password in this game when I was a few stages in, and the game just said "WELCOME TO THE MACHINE". Suddenly there were these creepy-ass alien looking things whose heads fell off if you used your echo on them.

NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE

Don't remember what they were named but there were these rolling ball enemies at the end of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time that would just beat the crap out of you so badly you would have to run away every time you encountered them.

Water creatures in any 3D Mario game have always freaked me out.

Mario 64: Eel, Shark, Stingray, Piranha
Mario Sunshine: Eely Mouth, the fish in Gelato Beach that drags you down
Mario Galaxy 1 & 2: Googly eyed eels
Mario 3D Land/World: The giant cheep cheeps

2D honourable mention: Super Mario Bros U: That fucking Cheep Chomp

Not cause they're scary, but the occasional invulnerable Uruk Captain in Shadow of Mordor makes me just pick another target.

"Let's see what this guy's deal is"
*zooms in*

Invulnerable to Melee
Invulnerable to Stealth
Invulnerable to Ranged
Beast Hunter
Fears Fire? (currently stomping around a field with no fires in sight)

"Hmm, who else is on my list here..."

Fuck these things they're so creepy....took me like a year to beat Prime 3 Corruption because of the level where you go into a laboratory where they've been released.

It kills me that I'll never be able to play this game. Fuck Konami.

It still exists...no chance you have a friend who knows a guy? :(

edit: oh, and yeah, fuck Konami.

My answer: Like Likes in Zelda 1. They EAT your shield. And they're always in a room with bubbles that make you unable to use your sword for a few seconds. Fuck the fucking fuckers!

Facing the Hammer Bros. with no power-ups is freaking hard and I've been playing Super Mario Bros. for 20 years!

Especially on 8-3

These bastards were awful when I was 12

Also the Sanctum Knights in Dark Souls 2 Sunken King DLC before you find their tomb. Pure jerks.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Chozo Ghosts from tbe first Metroid Prime. I used to take massive detours to avoid rooms where they would spawn.

Secondly the laughing bloodstained kimono woman from Project Zero/Fatal Frame II. She really scared me when I played the remake last month.

Good choice. Nothing scares me in any game, but a time-wasting enemy like that still qualifies as a "nope". Hell, I even hate enemies with long grab / hold animations.

Everything I want to mention has been mentioned, except:

The banshee things in Mass Effect 3. Legit scary enemies in a non horror game.

Bit old-school, but chrysallids from the original UFO Enemy Unknown/X-COM UFO Defense, especially in night time terror attacks.

No joke, if you spot one of these buggers and don't kill it on sight before the turn is over, you may as well call the rest of the mission a write-off.

The boars in Bloodborne that had their heads covered in eyes...

My actual reaction
"Another boar? Ha!" *attack it and it turns around* "NO! NO! NOPE! NO! FUCK THIS SHIT! NO! NO! NO!" *proceeds to run*

Lisa from P.T.
Came to post this. Not dissapointed.

First time i saw her and she jumped right at me i literally fucking screamed like a kid calling is mom out of unbelievable fear.
Alone at home during the night and no light of course.

But the worst....THE FUCKING WORST is when she possess you and then a few minutes pass you forget about her, looking for clues for the final puzzle, THEN SHE APPEAR OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE RIGHT IN YOUR FACE AND KILL YOU. Fuck that shit.
It's awesome, fuck you Konami, fuck you.

The Bloodborne enemies that do this in the Chalice Dungeons.

Those labyrinth madmen and the naked roly-poly labyrinth watchers for me.

Special shout-out to the chalice dungeon scourge beasts that can sometimes track you down in other parts of the dungeon if you make too much noise!

And this attacked me last night and almost made me lose my shit completely. She just came screaming up behind me with no warning and started slashing me to pieces!

In the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne. If you clear a mini-boss in a room, sometimes when you go back, there'll be a flea/bloodlicker waiting for you in the darkness. The first time it happens is terrifying/disturbing.

Their appearance is directly tied to
you doing a visceral attack on an enemy.

Also, the big fat naked guys in the chalice dungeons. They are nope for me. I'm like, "Oh look, another slow fat guWHAT THE FUAKSH927Y3N MNAS,DFBAI"
