Enemies In Gaming That Make You Go "Nope!"

Everything I want to mention has been mentioned, except:

The banshee things in Mass Effect 3. Legit scary enemies in a non horror game.

Just admit it, you'd like to get that close to them for a kiss. Sexy beasts.

As for me, i hate those fast screaming zombies in Half-Life 2. Maybe me go "nope" when they first showed up in Ravenholm.

Forgot about these two. They're bosses, but I think they're still good examples. Both from Tomb Raider 1.

The giant
abhorrent brain
in the Nightmare of Mensis in Bloodborne.

Jesus Christ, I couldn't even look at the thing while I was trying to kill it.

First encounter with a Controller, ran all the out of Agroprom underground to find a bazooka or something.

This is a good one. I had absolutely no idea what was happening to my vision when I saw the first one. Despite him pulling my vision towards him, I lost track of my orientation and couldn't find him for awhile. However, the big scary beast in STALKER will always be the iconic Bloodsucker for me. Hearing one yell always made me frantically look around for any trace of those bright eyes.

In the Chalice Dungeons in Bloodborne. If you clear a mini-boss in a room, sometimes when you go back, there'll be a flea/bloodlicker waiting for you in the darkness. The first time it happens is terrifying/disturbing.

I seriously questioned myself when this happened. That was on the level of Eternal Darkness turning down the volume on my tv.

Machine gun turret, Pay Day 2. Wish the AI knew to NOPE away from the damn things.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Chozo Ghosts from tbe first Metroid Prime. I used to take massive detours to avoid rooms where they would spawn.

Secondly the laughing bloodstained kimono woman from Project Zero/Fatal Frame II. She really scared me when I played the remake last month.

One of the upgrades makes the Chozo Ghosts fairly easy, I think it was the super missile. One super, one regular and they go down.

Lisa Trevor, easily

Yeah being in the caverns trying to solve a puzzle with her around was really scary. People like to shit on RE's writing and say it's only good for B movie stuff but Lisa and the rest of the Trevors' story was great. Proof that the series can do serious well.

Almost every goddamn enemy in Fallout 3/New Vegas. Feral Ghouls = nope, death claws = nope, and cazadores = nope. But mostly feral ghouls because you enter those tunnels and you can hear them but you don't see them until they jump at you with their melted faces from behind.

It still exists...no chance you have a friend who knows a guy? :(

edit: oh, and yeah, fuck Konami.

My answer: Like Likes in Zelda 1. They EAT your shield. And they're always in a room with bubbles that make you unable to use your sword for a few seconds. Fuck the fucking fuckers!

I'm aware, but sadly I don't think anyone I know has it downloaded. So yeah, fuck Konami.

Despite all the Bloodborne posts already made, the only enemy that actually made me freak out are the Black Widows in Mergo's Loft.

It's something to do with their fast animations that I just find completely unsettling.

Bloaters in TLoU freaked me out, especially in that
hotel basement
Yup, as a coward just the scared me away from PT. However I had to finish TLOU, but the bloaters or clickers in general, ugh.. Shivering. Only could finished the location you mention with no sound, full lights and some other music next to me, that particularly is the main reason that I have yet to replay the game!

Lambent_Berzerker_Gears_Of_War_3.jpg

I don't really know why but when I played Gears 3 horde with friends when the boss round came and it were bezerkers I screamed bloody murder and I am not the screaming kind of guy.
Maybe it's what I always wanted to see in movies. Like when someone like Michael Myers walk slowly in a long halway but suddenly break out in a sprint. that's what I liked about Masky in Marble Hornets.

I was always wondering about this. Why do people say "Nope!" ? I don't get it. I never heard a person who was scared say "nope" in my life. They usually get startled or say some kind of profanity. When did this start and how common is it ?

Slurpers in Silent Hill 3 - mostly due to the horrible (and quite loud) noise emanating from any room they're in. Plus they grab you and basically rape you every time you get near them. They just feel like one of the "ickiest" creatures in the whole SH universe to me, like whatever they are supposed to symbolize is gross as fuck.

I can't find a video on youtube that does justice to the sound otherwise I'd post one.
