Near the end of KQ Ep1 (I think)

Killer Queen has potential, but it hasnt been as good as I hoped so far.

Killer Queen EP1 spoilers (?)

So it looks like Gouda set up the Game, controls everything, or seems to be posing as a contestant.. dont know if she's actually behind everything though.

Suddenly Nagisa's personality seems to have changed as if she knows more than she's letting on

EDIT: Wow!
Nagisa could be the 'Game Master' who set up everything up, WTF? Or maybe she's Gouda's daughter/sister or something

I give EP1 7/10 - it had potential, but every time it looked like there'd be a twist in the story it seemed glossed over.
For a sec I thought the game fast forwarded to the ending for some reason, but this was just the end of EP1 (?) and we still dont know everything. The game is over but... not over...? No resolution as to why they were kidnapped? Why is Sakumi now being an asshole to Soichi if he so much as looks at another girl... FFS

Just started EP2:

WTF?!?

So now they've given you someone who looks like a YOUNGER version of your girlfriend, perhaps she really is that?
After all, Soichi did say they kind of grew up together

They did give the reason you were kidnapped in the first EP
Your being used for entertainment for very rich individuals. If you mean Soichi specifically. It's probably because of the unique qualities he possessed him running into Sakumi at the beginning was probably engineered by the people running the game.

The 2nd EP is just... whoa
OK...
So theyre going with 'she looks like your girlfriend' thing again.. only this time, she looks like Sakumi from EP1, and she's dead already. WTF?

ANOTHER ONE!?

I mean, I'm glad they're making the effort to license stuff, but I would prefer to at least have one of the other kickstarted games first...

Eh, anyway. Now that I posted here, guess this time is as good as any to post my final impressions of Killer Queen.

My overall score would be a 7/10 with a polarization of -2 (due to the amateurish art and the way both routes end) and +.5 (If you really loved the whole Battle Royale scenario)

Where to start...? What I liked, I guess. The way the tension feels during the first part of both routes. You don't know who might be hiding and who's going down. Of course, the people you're with at the end are guaranteed to survive due to Plot Armor, so it takes a bit of that tension at the end, and why I specifically mention the first part.
On that regard, I really liked how in the second route this was subverted and everyone minus the main character and the heroine of that route.

What I disliked: To be honest, the sudden revelation that (First route end spoilers)
Nagisa was in league with the 'bad guys' (to call them something) and just like that decided to switch sides came as somewhat idiotic.
Likewise, how (Second route end spoilers)
Yuuki decided to spare you and forget about everything that she did before to start a new leaf. I mean, I'm fine with the character wanting redemption, but the way the story handled that was, again, stupid and came out of nowhere.
Another peeve of mine was the art. Yikes. Not good at all :(
And lastly, another thing that bothered me is how the game had an interesting premise, but even though both ends end on a somewhat happy note (or bittersweet at worst), the ending was entirely unsatisfying for me. NOTHING gets resolved.

I think I've said everything I wanted to, so I'll finish this minirant review with the following: It's fine if you want to read something fast, and I certainly don't regret reading it, but it's not a necessary read for me.

Btw, guys, do you know how the translator decided to translate this? Because it's funny; GundamAce didn't really liked the novel all that much. He only wanted to translate the second novel of the canonical VNs (can't remember the name and I'm using the campus's internet, so browsing VNDB.org it's not an option right now), but since that one had a lot of callbacks to the first one, he needed to translate that one first. After reading it and realizing that some stuff would be better explained if you were to read this, the non-canonical novel, he decided to start with the first novel the company (Flat) released...

Sekai please put out a game so I can stop making fun of you. Please.

Irrelevant to that, I had no idea about the reason Killer Queen got translated, so I did a little looking and ended up MORE confused. It seems that Killer Queen is the prequel(!?) in a semi canonical(?) fashion to "Secret Game Code:Revise" in that KQ was remade as "Secret Game" about 2.5 years after the original. And yes, those are the real game titles. I guess I have more interest in those than KQ, not really sure why he had to translate an alternate version of a prequel first but whatever floats his boat.

Well without surprise the strech goal was completed ..and there is a DEMO now

Code:
The team over at SRL worked hard in getting the demo ready for Kickstarter,
they ported the game to Ren'Py so things are still under development and will change over time.
This demo is a bit shorter than the original Japanese one as it was made specifically for Kickstarter.
We also had to remove voices because at the moment we cannot include the voices due to licensing reasons.
i hope they can unlock the japanese voices , i'd rather see the game with voices than without.

What I would like feedback on (well I take every feedback possible in fact) :
Kira Kira / Deardrops if like I imagine the porn is limited and these are good slice of lives
Go! Go! Nippon!
The Hakuoki series
Muv-Luv
Rose gun days

What excites me :
The What a Wonderful... series, I'm in love with the art style.

TL;DR new to the genre, what do I play ?

I can give feedback on my muv-luv. It is a traditional harem story with very boring character. However, the sequel muv luv alternative is my favorite VN of all time. Even above steins;gate.

Quoting myself from the 52 games thread:

Killer Queen - 10 hours

Very disappointing game. The premise the game has, people trapped in a building playing a game having to survive, is always a good one. So when the final product turns out to be really shallow it's always a big disappointment. First things first, the art this game has is very ugly, the eyes, oh god the eyes. Second, the characters, they are very boring, trope-y, and seem to have almost no development at all. The few times that some characters get development it's not even subtle, they realize something and suddenly change in the blink of an eye. Third, the story is very predictable and just generic all around, some twists (not all of them) you can see coming from miles away and the most annoying thing is how oblivious the MC is towards these situations. The endings are the worst offenders, it's like the writer doesn't know how to write a fitting climax, so he just skips in time at a very weird moment.

5/10

Would not recommend playing this one.

I'm on Killer Queen Ep 2 at the moment. More tension than the first episode but I agree overall it hasnt lived up to expectations so far. Disappointing.
Edit: Ugh...
It sounds as if Yuuki (the little girl) was probably raped or assaulted :(

Now this is just wrong...
I get theyre just taking a bath, but damnit, Japan. Theres no need for you to touch "down there"

Killer Queen beat.

Episode 2 was better than ep 1. A lot more tense, fast-paced and just overall disturbing.

That being said, the only part I'd really call "good" would be the climax. Predictable twist yes, but I won't deny the lead-up to it was actually pretty cool and effective, though maybe that's because I'm just a sucker for twists like that even if I see them from a mile away. Nothing amazing or anything, but neat nonetheless.

Actual ending for both episodes was shit, though. There's still so many questions.
What was the deal with the organization that set up the game? Was there any reason behind the alternate stories, or where they nothing more than that? If Yuuki was so clever and manipulative, how did she get killed the first time around?

Don't think I'd really recommend this to anyone. I love these kinds of premises, and even I thought it was underwhelming. I'd still probably play one of those alternate sequel things provided they answer stuff about
the organization behind the game.

I finished Fate/HA recently. In short, I wasn't impressed.

I appreciate that they wanted to do something new in terms of progression structure. As VLR has demonstrated, you can take out all the needless repetition of the standard multi-choice ADV structure while not damaging the storytelling or coherence of the whole work. In that case, thanks to the clever integration with the setting, it might even have enhanced the atmosphere.

Conversely, at least for me, the structure Type-Moon chose for Fate/HA only serves to make it more obvious just how meaningless most scenes and how arbitrary most story triggers are. Add to that an overall story motivation which was simply boring compared to most of their other stuff, and you end up with quite a forgettable ADV. And that's coming from someone who really enjoyed Fate/SN a lot. Perhaps it's just because I was younger, but I really believe it's significantly better on many levels. Of course, it also helps that while reading it you discover the rules of the setting and its characters for the first time, which is almost always more interesting than a rehash.

Just finished Killer Queen
or at the ending. I was expecting a twist like this, but not (kinda), having a kid/love interest be the killer as no one suspects them, when it came, it was rather cool and well done, actually quite chilling

Well, I enjoyed Killer Queen Ep2 more than Ep1. As cosmicblizzard says, it was much more tense and just disturbing.
I thought the twist with Yuki was actually pretty cool - predictable though but the actual ending was crap - it didnt say who kidnapped everyone and why, among other things, the 'alternate stories' or the criminals behind the game
