In what way? Genuinely curious.
It's definitely exactly as Bobby describes it -- it's got that Naboo feel mixed with Kings Landing (especially since I think they're filming in the same city).

Here's a pic (minor location spoiler ofc)

Oh, interesting. I can see what you guys mean now. The architecture is definitely rather reminiscent.

Thank you for sharing!

TPM was full of visual pageantry, to an almost distracting degree. I guess given how much I enjoyed TFA I shouldn't worry about one super ambiguous description. A lot of the same creative people who helped TFA's understated aesthetic work so well are bound to be working on TLJ.

I wouldn't take it so on the nose. I can see a bit of Naboo in the set designs so far but it's not like... anything over the top. I didn't have that distracting experience with TPM though :p

And he did say also with a dash of Game of Thrones, so there's that.

Going by what disney seems to be setting up with rebels in season 3 I really think that the end game of the sequel trilogy is no more jedi and no more sith but only enlightened grey force users will remain.

I don't know how I really feel about this direction, I have always kinda disliked the concept of grey jedi because it comes hand in hand with the concept of a light side which makes the force a lot less nuanced and interesting.
Same. I like Star Wars having clear cut good guys and bad guys. The dark side has always been a clear corruption of the light side, and I want it to stay that way.

Having more guys like the force sensitive non-Jedi in Rogue One is an awesome idea though.

I like the idea of getting rid of Jedi and Sith, there's a reason the Jedi Orders keep failing miraculously, they fucked up with Anakin then Luke apparently fucked something up too when he tried between trilogies. There's probably a reason why this movie is called the Last Jedi. This I think could lead to some really good and different ideas.

The Last Jedi panel is on the 14th. Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy are hosting.

At Celebration in 2015 we got the second teaser from Abrams at the Force Awakens panel.

You will absolutely see the teaser on the 14th.

Oh oops I forgot the panel is on that day. How have they handled trailers at celebration in the past? They never hit on the first day?

....is that assuring?

Was Phantom Menace's aesthetic all that unique to begin with?

Unique? Sure. Good? Very debatable.

I actually like a lot of the set designs etc, but yeah, the overall look of the prequels...has probably been discussed enough by people who dislike them as much as me. Although, I'll admit, to me Phantom Menace probably looks the best out of the three prequels. Which is faint praise coming from me, but well, there it is.

No idea what that quote could mean though. Hard for me to wrap my head around.

Man if there's one thing I can't hate on in regards to the prequels it's the art direction/set design.

Also again... don't take it so literally. The quote was that it was basically a mix of prequel set design and Game of Thrones, it doesn't mean that we're back on Theed folks. Probably just that there's some elegant/Victorian inspired locales.

Looks like something I'd expect in the next Harry Potter movie.

Man I'm pumped I was watching collider videos and they throw the idea that maybe Rey turns to the dark side in episode 8....my head would blow up.

I'm going to say no, but she could definitely sorta begin the idea of what a "gray area" Jedi is. Someone with Force powers that isn't a bad person but doesn't shy away from things either. Not noble peacekeepers or galactic police, just... a person.

You don't have to follow some stupid archaic code to be considered a Force powered good guy. Rey isn't going to be held down by any governing shackles which is partially what led to Anakin's severe fuck-up.

My favourite planet by far. I'd love to see it within the context of an actual story that isn't complete slop (its fleeting appearance in Rogue One not included)
Always wanted to see a big ground war on Corsicant, which Genndy Clone Wars kinda did way back when.

What a surprise, the 2nd movie in the trilogy brings in the Walkers.

Yadda yadda it's like poetry blah blah

There were new types of Walkers in Force Awakens. Also Rogue One, although that probably doesn't count as the second movie.

I mean, Star Wars movies use Walkers. Don't see what's bad about it. What other franchise is going to use them?

While I agree that you can go too far with references, I don't see the problem with Star Wars movies having Star Wars things in them. It's what they paid billions of dollars for after all.

It's going to be this same song and dance with every single movie isn't it?

Things that are in The Last Jedi:

- Old exiled Jedi Master teaching new apprentice
- Walkers
- Side characters dealing with B-plot in a city that looks nice but probably sucks
- Protagonist learns who her parents are... maybe

This Buzzfeed slideshow article writes itself. I don't even have to watch the movie!
