Episode VIII is "The Last Jedi"

You seem to be suggesting that girls won't be able to handle seeing another girl get hurt onscreen.

Why

They sold toys of Luke after Luke got his hand cut off.

What's the difference
Not the girls so much as the parents of said girls. There have been similar reactions to other entertainment depicting violence against women.

Luke ends up being a bad teacher and Rey just leaves in the first third of the movie to do her own thing. Finn goes dark side with his new robo-spine and Rey has to win him back in episode 9 with hugs and a new neutral force philosophy. Snoke is actually a foot tall. Every internet reviewer says "Empire Strikes Back" and/or "dark middle chapter" at least 5 times in each one of their reviews. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I must rest. Soothsaying is taxing.

The manner in which the violence is dealt has a lot to do with people getting upset, I'd imagine.

What similar reactions are you referring to?

Because there are sequences in The Force Awakens where she gets hit/kicked and is forcibly mentally violated by the bad guy and I don't remember much of an uproar from concerned parents of sensitive little girls, much less concern so signficant that it threatened toy sales.

In fact, so far as the toys went, the movie came out and people were pretty upset that they couldn't immediately go grab a Rey toy.

You're suggesting if she lost a limb in a fight, or a leg, or a hand, that people would be so upset a girl got hurt they'd turn their back on the story, regardless how she lost that limb, or whether the losing of it made sense in the story proper.

I don't know why that'd be the case.

One thing im super curious about, Daisy posted an instagram post during filming where she had her hair covered and said she had to for spoiler reasons.

What could it mean?

Be hilarious if she dies in the opening 20 minutes

The internet meltdowns

We finally get the Poe and Finn buddy cop film we deserve

It'd be weird if it was a padawan braid. How would Luke even know about those?

"Huh. They used to do... that.

...yeah, no."

The force ghosts!

Who will make an appearance

I am certain yoda is in episode 8

Force Ghost Yoda shows up and teaches Luke all about the Jedi hairstyles. Come on, imagine a comedy sequence with an 80s pop song where Yoda and Luke go through hairstyles.

There better be a training montage where Rey wears Luke in a backpack.

This is what I expect and then a timeskip happens after Rey and Lukemeet

I seriously doubt that. They would have just included the rest of the scene in TFA and started with a timejump as usual, in TLJ. But clearly there are more important plans.

Seems like a waste of time, to me anyway.

So long as we dont see that helicopter pan shot from the end of TFA again, literally the most horrible thing in any SW film to date, took me completely out for a second.

Yeah I could have done without it. Most horrible thing is a ridiculous exaggeration though.

So Mace Windu really is dead

I really hope the only major character from the PT who ever returns to this franchise is McGregor.

I don't get what's bad about it at all. The whole thing plays out maybe a bit too long but I don't get the vitriol.

I think it just looks a little awkward, not because of the moment at all but because of the framing. Makes it look like the actors are just literally standing and holding for that shot.

Well, they are! I just thought it was theatrical, like yeah it plays out too long I think but for it to get that level of hate is strange.

You know Finn, we really are the last Jedi.

Even though it doesn't make sense.. can we use the Bobby picture for this too

I agree at the level of hate. It's funny.. people are like OMG NO CREATIVITY and one of the things they do that's quite different and risky different OMG THIS THING SUCKS.

I don't hate it and I commend JJ for trying to make a saga defining moment. He almost succeeds.

Because some folks massively overthink it and and try to contextualize the length of the shot within the story of scene and mock the implication that arrises, that Luke and Rey stare at each other for literally a minute, which is a stupid thing to do.

Oh yeah this is what people do with everything about Star Wars, which is amusing as it's a pretty simple thing.

As simple as Rey being cloned from Luke's old hand and introducing the audience to: the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker.

But nah.. fans don't struggle with the simplicity of Star Wars.

Everything needs to be original, but it also needs to fit into the pattern, the pattern which is assumed to be tradition, —which is likely neither tradition nor a pattern—but is now stupid for daring to believe its originality is better than the formula that brought us all here, nobody came for all that, they came for what works, but made better, made newer, because everything needs to be original, but it also needs to fit into the pattern the patt—

The post of a madman brought to his breaking point by nerd insanity.

If you stare into the endlesstrash.gif too long, the endlesstrash.gif stares back into you.
