F1 2011 - September 23rd release

Hahaha yeah instead of leaving the pits at 10mph your pit crew just walk in slow-mo and take a minute to put the tyres on this time.

Ah. That would be so good.

They should bring special 'FIA messing the rules during the season' mode into this game. :)

Yeah, here's an upgrade - but you can't use it from Silverstone - but you can if you drive a Renault engine car!

Here are the impressions on the handheld versions.

3DS Version

Vita Version

Who's doing the handheld ports (is it still Sumo Digital)? Did the PSP version sell/received well enough? Thinking about picking the Vita for some portable F1 action.

@Lucius86
One question. When driving the cars, do they feel like they have actual weight on the track? Can't describe it fully... can you feel the suspension or the car reacting to your inputs? Sometimes in 2010, felt like the car float around the track.

Put simply, yes. It is hard to describe, but you are definitely more connected to the track now.

Thanks for all the videos Lucius. Wet definitely looks like a new beast. Also happy to see people skidding around without being able to recover, will provide more of a challenge and risk in pushing the car to the limit.

Yup it is still Sumo Digital. After reading those impressions, I am kinda dissapointed with both the handheld versions of the game.

only annoying 2010 achievements are expert championship win (but can be cheated via in-race assists) and being taken in by a higher ranking team, which right now on my file is annoying to get lol.

Online stuff is just grinding to 50.

For those of you waiting for a daily deal, it's £6 today on Steam. BUY IT.
Already have :p now to give it 3 days to install at a slow download rate.

I don't know how anyone gets to 50. Most of us have played for nearly 200 or so hours online now and I don't think any of us are even at 40 :\
Last time I played 2010 online on my xbox it took about 2 days to get from 22 to 24 and it feels like forever just to get it to 25, it really is a bit too slow.

But 2011 comes out soon, which it's a much better game and nobody will play 2010 anymore. :D
maybe so but it's still a good game and a great time waster for the next few months, I also want to see the game running on my pc with mods.

What are the essential mods? I'd like to remove the piss filter first and foremost.

I'm so stoked I got this game for $10 today. Patience really paid off.

Same here. I've been waiting for a deal every day and it finally came! I'm picking up Terraria while I'm at it, even though I had the chance to pick it up for less earlier.

I kind of miss the "Alonso is faster than you - Lose to Alonso as Massa in any race" achievement, but apart from that, quite the solid list!

They should add a "Lews Hamilton - take out 3 drivers and go on to win the race" achievement.

Some good stuff you can feel the body roll now in corners which is great, no more magic carpet :p
That sounds great. F1 2010's handling wasn't a bad first effort in my opinion but nailing the feeling of the car on the road is what I really wanted to see them do this season.

So the essential question is yet to be answered: does the AI actually race this time?

AI was hard to assess, as it is still currently being worked on. However, it was super aggressive in the build we played.

F1 2011 Fact Sheet

* Go Compete! F1 2011 builds extensively on the multiplayer options from F1 2010. Split-screen racing is included for the first time in a high-definition FORMULA ONE title. Competitive online racing is extended with 16 players going head-to-head in GRAND PRIX™ with up to 8 AI drivers added to simulate the full grid of 24 drivers. An innovative new co-op Championship enables two players to lead their favourite FORMULA ONE team to Driver and Constructor glory across the course of a FORMULA ONE season. These enhancements are complimented by additional quick fire modes including Time Attack.

* New Circuits for 2011. Two stunning new additions to the race calendar extend the number of circuits to feature in F1 2011 to 19. Players will be able to debut ahead of the drivers on the Buddh International Circuit, the home of the first FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF INDIA and players will be able to test themselves on the iconic Nürburging circuit for the first time in High Definition, as this legendary track returns for the 2011 season.

* Be the driver, live the life. From the paddock to the track, F1 2011 takes players closer to the experience of being a FORMULA ONE driver than ever before. A new Parc Ferme area, an expanded and revamped Paddock, new Pit Lane, celebration and reaction cinematics and an enhanced media interaction system fully immerse players in the glamour, pressure and excitement of being a FORMULA ONE driver. Players progress from rookie to FIA FORMULA ONE DRIVERS’ WORLD CHAMPION in an extensive career mode where gamers fight to become priority driver and shape the development of the car by performing well in races and earning performance upgrades.

* KERS, DRS and more! F1 2011 includes all the new rule changes set to make this year’s season the most exciting yet. F1 2011 debuts DRS (Drag Reduction System) – the new system which enables drivers to adjust the rear wing on the car to give a boost of up to 10km. KERS also returns, giving players an extra 80BHP for up to 6.67 seconds, enabling drivers to blast past rivals. Combined, these systems encourage close wheel-to-wheel racing with new options for both defence and attack. This season’s new Pirelli tyres are faithfully simulated in the game, and if players push their car too hard they may experience a range of authentic new damage failures.

* Full Day / Night Racing. The 2011 FORMULA 1 ETHIAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX comes alive with a full day/ night transition which recreates the special atmosphere at this unique track. Every one of the existing circuits from the 2010 roster has been given a complete visual overhaul. No safety car despite having an achievement for pitting in safety car conditions is strange, or maybe they have a safety car period but they don't have an actual safety car running on the track.

Happy to see they implemented day/night transition in Abu Dhabi. I actually enjoyed driving in that track in F1 2010 (except the last sector).

Is it September yet? No? Right, back to sleep I go.

The more I read, the more I want to play.
