Fake games you wish were real

*sigh* I still remember this shit. Saw it in the magazine and stared hyperventilating and pacing around my living room. Called my friends over and over even though I kept getting voicemail.

I would kill for this to be real. :(

I really miss classic EGM and their April Fool's gags. I can't remember the others, aside from Sonic and Tails in Melee, for the life of me though.

Some time in the late 90s, there was an article in a german magazine about a playstation game in which you control a football referee. You had to make all the crucial decisions a ref has to make: awarding freekicks, handing out cards, spotting dives etc. There was even a little whistle included with the game! This was around the time Libero Grande was released btw.
Little me was super excited when I read about the game. In the next issue, however, it was revealed that it was just an april fools joke :/ Still think it's an interesting concept. Maybe for an Indie Title? Although having real teams and players would even better! I definitely would fuck up teams I don't like. Neuer saved a penalty brilliantly? No sorry, the ball already crossed the line! Some Schalke player is fouled in the box? Clearly a dive, that will be a yellow card.

The Simpsons used to have such amazing fake games back in the day.

Then somewhere along the line it all went to shit.

Quiddich...not to actually play it (I glossed through those chapters in the books), just to use the flying broomstick.

Maybe if we're going Segagaga games then Final Pharmacy VIII. Was Chopin the 3rd a videogame? [Lupin 3rd but with Chopin instead complete with holding conductors baton...]

fakedit:Right on cue...The Bankslammer

Mine is definitely Larry the Looter

thats one criminally underused topic in modern videogames.

what's yours?
How could I forget the Arcade games in the Simpsons? (I've forgotten the names of most of them too) Cat Fight was one I liked. Though I guess if Cat Fight were to happen it would be deemed sexist
someone is going to mention dead or alive...
.

I guess they died like arcades did...

Not a game but a peripheral. A 3DS to Wii U adapter like the old Gamecube Gameboy Player. I'd go out and buy a Wii U right now.

There was some doing it but I didn't keep up with the project.

Is a recent one since all the Simpsons ones and the Californication ones were already posted.

Sometimes in books, TV shows, movies or even videogames there are in-universe videogames that sadly don't exist in our reality.
Which one(s) would you love to play?

It is real. It can be played in a old Simpson's adventure game.

I played this adventure game. IIRC Larry the Looter is unbeatable, you get shot pretty much instantly. When I was a kid I was obsessed with trying to keep playing, but never figured it out. Virtual Springfield if anyone wants to see.

Wasn't there a futuristic/industrial Zelda rumor? I'd love that...
