Fallout 76 announced more at E3

good, let's get all the shit (rage 2, fallout) out of the way and focus on the cool stuff at E3 beth. Gimme Starfield and Doom 2 - I'm so ready!

It could be fun. Need to see which studio is developing it. Bethesda gets a lot of grief, some of it is justified, but to their credit they invest heavily in the titles they develop compared to titles they only publish. That gives me some hope.

I really like the idea of a fallout survival game as long as the online component is semi optional. I need to be able to make a private or friends only game and I'll be good. I'd actually love for a couple buddies to join me in the wasteland reclamation project!

Yup, just copy Ark and allow single player/small co-op settings. And I highly recommend split screen co-op if they can do it. Or at least have it as an option on PS4 Pro/Xbox 1 X. Such an awesome option on Ark, it can't be overstated how cool it is to play a split screen co-op survival game like that.

So Vault 76 is the vault that first opened right after the war, so it's the first one to rebuild, hence. survive. Seems fitting.

Wonder if there will be intermittent feral rampages like State of Decay 2 =P.

Edit: And one final edit. Don't skimp out on the HDR, Bethesda.

Split screen would be fantastic!

It sounds like it will take place much closer to the war than the last couple of games so the area might be much more barren. I am thinking something like the vault being your home but your supplies are low and you need to start foraging? Getting out of the vault for the first time is always an iconic moment in these games.

I can definitely imagine hoards of ghouls or something similar as well as raiding parties.

Yeah Vault 76 is the first vault that opened 20 years after the war. That seems...early. So I imagine some Metal Gear Survive like radiation field/hazmat gear required. Things will probably be in total chaos, which makes it a perfect time for a survival game. It's quite fitting.

Wonder how the Enclave will figure into this game, if at all (I'd have to re-read the history on that).

Also, it takes place in Capital Wasteland/DC per the wiki:

Not all vaults were designed with experimental purposes. Vault 76 is one of seventeen known "control" vaults, meaning that it was used as a baseline to compare to experimental vaults. Vault 76 housed 500 occupants and was programmed to open to the wasteland outside 20 years after a nuclear war. According to the Vault-Tec Terminal in the Citadel, Vault 76 is located somewhere in Washington D.C.,[1] likely in the outskirts or outlying areas as it does not show up on the Capital Wasteland map.

I sense asset re-use. Maybe the reason for re-mastering Fallout 3, lol.

Asset re-use makes a lot of sense here. I hope this does mean a fallout 3 remaster is still coming to current consoles, I have been wanting to play it again. Keeping my fingers crossed for a PSVR version too.

Yeah I mean why not, they re-used assets from Age of Conan in Conan Exiles. So if they're making Fallout 76, and remastering Fallout 3, why not use them.

Edit: And again with Metal Gear Solid 5 and Metal Gear Survive. I guess asset re-use and survival games go hand-in-hand.

In regards to content and asset reuse, unless the game being described in all the leaks is substantially larger in scale than what's in my head, I can't see the justification of a $60 price tag. I highly doubt that this will be anything remotely comparable to any of the mainline games or even New Vegas.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll get it at a significant discount day one either way (assuming it's decent) but the price tag is most likely being massively inflated by the IP it's attached to.

Remastered in 4k (without bugs too!!)... All I want is more single player that is all.

If you want to play those games, then go play them. Updated graphics doesnt change the core gameplay. There was like 7 years between Fallout 3 and 4. 4 came out less than 3 years ago, a new game is going to take awhile.

Those all exist, just not on consoles. I'll never understand why anyone would even consider playing Bethesda games on consoles. Especially when that means you don't get script enhancers, graphical mods, community patches and custom content ranging from simple texture mods to larger projects like DUST, Tamriel Rebuilt, Skyrim Home of the Nords, Project Nevada, A Tale of Two Wastelands and even total conversions like Enderal. They're not even difficult to run, even at 4K.

Perhaps because not all Bethesda games can be played in the living room? i.e. if someone here knows how to get Fallout 3 & New Vegas (for example) to work with a steam link please enlighten me, because until then I'll be playing those two games on Xbox. My own PC (I do actually have a gtx 1080 & I7 8700k cpu) is not in an ideal location for relaxed gaming, ergo consoles still have their worth.

I can get Fallout 4 & Skyrim to run on steam link but not the aforementioned titles, so here I am currently in a playthrough of Fallout 3 on Xbox One. I suspect there are others who're also console players by default, rather by choice.

Rumors going around that they'll be removing mod support from the game and using the "over 18's mods" you see as an excuse so the can push creation club. Creation Club will be safer for them to keep an eye on what created and obviously charge people money.

If this is true why didn't they just contact nexus mods and say they don't agree with those mods and they will remove mod support for future games unless you stop posting "over 18's mods". Problem solved IMO but it's not about that it's about their Creation Club not being able to compete with free mods simple as

Why are so many people against the online part of fallout 76? We need variety and the fallout universe is perfect for games like this. I am excited to learn more, I have waited years for an online fallout game to play with my friends.

Once when we wanted to play Fallout 3 / Fallout New Vegas with the posibility of multiplayer by roaming, killing each other or funny moments and few modders manage to do that in afterwards seen on youtube videos, now we don't like to play online. :/

I want to know what is about, how it looks. I want to see it.

If Bethesda announced a regular fallout in the same engine as fallout 4 everyone would be screaming about their lack of innovation. It doesn't matter what some gaming companies do, it seems they are going to get hate regardless.

But you are right, I have wanted a fallout or elder scrolls game like this for YEARS. Elder scrolls online is great but I want to see what they do with fallout.

Without knowing what this actually is, the idea of a co-op Fallout game with base building sounds awesome to me.

The real problem going on is that they did this stupid announcement of an announcement approach and now we're all just guessing at what it is and complaining about guesses we don't like.

If it's true and if they ban free modding without giving tools to the community like Creation kit, then there is no point to buy Bethesda game anymore for PC users.

if its some persistent online world... why would they keep mods? Like... sure community content is one thing but why would they keep mods? I dont understand how people actually are disappointed or even had this sorta expectation for a multiplayer game

Because it's a trick to impose pay mods? There is many games that got modding within being online(Minecraft, Conan etc), also Fallout 76 isn't about competition it will be a co-op RPG.

Anyway it's very difficult to make people understand what modding represent nowaday in video gaming world... Since we are in the era of consummers who want Free to play game to then SPEND tons of dollard in it (????????).
It's the whole irony.

This looks like an extremely bad idea. You can't add multiplayer to a Bethesda RPG without heavily compromising the single player experience.

Despite its success, Bethesda's RPG mold is showing its age and needs serious improvement in a lot of fronts (engine, technology, tools, writing, quests, etc). Their next offering could go in almost any direction and it would still be a step forward. Multiplayer is one of the few wrong directions they could choose. Base building is another one.

If rumors are true and this is being built as a base for Fallout 5, I guess that makes two Bethesda games I don't need to bother with anymore.

ARK has mods. So if it's like ARK/Rust/Conan Exiles, it's likely to at least have mods on the Steam Workshop, possibly anyhow.

Yeah I could see that release date with this type of game (good timing honestly). Or at least on Early Access/Game Preview on Steam/Xbox Live by then.

I read about it three days ago. I'm really surprised because nothing was telling this coming. I'm really interested why 76, probably what your have said - maybe it will take action in the year 76. I'm still haunted by the previous versions of Fallout, probably my favorite game of anytime.
