Famitsu: Bits on KH3D, FFXI Vita, Dissidia and More

I'm seriously not even going to be surprised at all when an interview gets published this year or next declaring Versus XIII to be either canceled or on indefinite hiatus. The tears will be delicious.

Too bad for you, because that will never happen.

Uh... the game is really far along in production. I doubt they'll cancel it after spending probably millions of dollars on it already.

They just had a gameplay blowout of Versus in January and the only reason they aren't giving it attention now is because it would completely overshadow XIII-2. Yeah, I know. Square is stupid and whatever. But it should be in no danger of getting cancelled.

I hope they end giving KH3 to the BBS / 3D team

If Versus isn't out in Japan by next year, then I agree.

Not going to happen.

Adapt and re-balance all of FFXI's content for a singleplayer party-based game. I don't care if you make battles ATB or gambit based or what.

Best game ever. I would buy 10.

I wish more MMO developers did this after the game is effectively finished. Blizzard could probably make 10 really good standalone RPGs simply recycling WoW assets. Write a new narrative, "film" it with in-engine cutscenes, and tweak the hardest bosses so they're managable in single player. Hell, most subscribers never see that content.

As do I. It's the one major reason I dislike MMOs, once it's offline that's it. It's completely over. If more developers would create a patch that I can download that tweaks the game to adjust to single player and allowed offline play once they decide to shut it down, I'd be a lot happier with the purchase of an MMO.

Also, how would XI work on Vita? Wouldn't that require Vita to have a ton of built in storage to run?

Pretty much, as irritating as it is.

Everyone seems so sure it's coming soon, even though there's still no indication it'll even be out next year, right?

Haven't massive projects been shelved in the past even after years of development once a company decides they've been too much of a drain on resources without yield?

If not, I retract my comment. Sorry.

Edit- ah, I just read Syko's comment. Didn't realize regular progress was actually being made on showing the game to the public.

Nomura said in this interview that development was progressing well. The reason he can't talk about the game yet is because S-E is forcing him to keep quiet as to not overshadow XIII-2 and Type-0. Once those are out, Versus will have its time... and Nomura already has a date set for that reveal (likely Jump Festa in December.)

New allies and a new type of enemy sounds good. I loved Birth by Sleep, but it was a fairly solitary game for the most part (358/2 Days even more so, but that was by design).

I don't understand why KH is being regulated to handhelds, It's a series that typically does better in the west. At least KH1 and 2 did. BBS was amazing, but the DS ones were shit.

What's wrong with the games being on handhelds? It's not like it really makes much of a difference. And Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days both sold extremely well in the west while being released on handhelds.

Cool, thanks for the info.

FFXI was the number 2 subscription MMO for about half a decade(number 1 for the brief time before WoW came out).
Sorry, no.

Lineage 1 was well over a million subscribers before FF11 came out and Lineage 2 was over a million subscribers before WoW came out.
Star Wars Galaxies was also ahead of FF11 in the time between its release and when WoW destroyed it.
Ragnarok Online I forget if it had a subscription fee in Asian countries, it did over here.

On topic - FF11 would be a bad idea on Vita.
Retail version would pretty much have to be a 32GB memory card with FF11 and every update for $40. Is that even possible?

If you want an MMO on Vita I think Order and Chaos Online by Gameloft would be a better choice.

They sell more on consoles, and while there's nothing wrong with being on a handheld, but there's no representation on the console end.
