Last time it appeared at famitsu top 100 for the first half of the year at 110k. It sold 4k between july and december. I guess it was where people got confused.8k more, but yes these games seem to have extra poor legs in Japan
05. Dragon Quest VIII [864.865]
06. Dragon Quest Heroes [782.135]
It seems like Nintendo platforms have a lock on software sales in Japan.
Wow... Nintendo pretty much owns Japan
That xenoblade number is fucking awful.
It must have done better in the west.

I didn't really follow its numbers but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of that was frontloaded before the negative word-of-mouth started to set in.
Does my heart good to see Fire Emblem Fates do so well. Finally proves the naysayers of the Awakening/Fates formula wrong.
Crtl + F Disgaea
Sigh NIS. Pick up better release date next time please.

Obviously this only covers the games in the top 100 (and there are plenty of games which sold less than 65,000 copies in Japan last year), but they should give you a rough idea of where the platforms and publishers stack up in terms of software sales in the country.
It looks like the FE Fates listing includes both versions though. So it's not that impressive that two games sold better than one...
It does not show those who "double dipped" digitally, plus the special edition with 2 versions in one cart counts as one copy only.

I didn't know US number, but 70k is quite nice. Hopefully there's another Disgaea in the pipeline.
SPLATOON!!! I'm sure not even Nintendo predicted this success for the game in Japan. That's really cool.
That xenoblade number is fucking awful.
It must have done better in the west.
655K for MGS V is such a great result. The MGS audience in Japan hasn't faded one bit, right ?
700k+ with digital for MGSV iirc.
Is Mario Party 10 the worst selling Mario Party game on consoles?
Probably. I found this in an old thread
Second Week:
06 NGC Mario Party 7 - 30,000 (114,000)
It probably ended up higher than MP10
Fates vs Awakening is even more impressive when you consider that awakening launched prior to the eshop offering digital versions retail 3ds titles, giving it the advantage of 100% retail sales at launch.
It's sold around 70k in NA so its doing better here then in Japan which I believe was always its core player base.

majora's mask did pretty well. zelda's been on the decline in japan, but the remake wound up about 150k short of the original.
Yep.
Agreed. It makes me excited to see what effect NX has in the Japanese market. I wonder if it can revitalize, to some degree, the console market for that region.

The lack of legs for Bloodborne is probably the most outrageous thing here. Will be interesting to see how fast Dark Souls III can reach 200K.
Also, we have Yakuza 0 at 240K for PS3 and 140K for PS4. We will see very soon how the situation has turned in favor of PS4 with Yakuza Kiwami release. Not to mention Dragon Quest Heroes II in May.
Is Mario Party 10 the worst selling Mario Party game on consoles?
ll.
Source? creamsugar had Disgaea debuting at 26k units.
Data shop lists 70k+ people who've registered on the Disgaea Servers NA on the game. It doesn't include europe or japan.
2:1 ratio of digital to retail makes me suspicious by default.
Data shop lists 70k+ people who've registered on the Disgaea Servers NA on the game. It doesn't include europe or japan. It is basically the internal analytics in the actual game. There is a menu option that shows how many unique IDs have played the game. It was around 50k since launch and now its 70k.
Wouldn't that be PSN accounts though and not necessarily equal to copies sold?

You can be suspicious but this is the number, you can go on the game right now and check.
I can only vouch for the NA edition.well...how much does this data shop list for Japan? I mean you probably can't check it yourself but still
Can you clarify?I am not suspicious of the number but of what it represents.
Can you clarify?
That it represents sales. Such digital to retail ratios are unheard of, as the launch number would suggest close to if not exceeding a 1:1 ratio.
The number is itself just a number. I have no reason to doubt its quantity.
Those 26k when it released I believe don't include digital, collectors edition, sales from NIS store. I don't have information on how many of those copies were sold on digital and on their store, but the limited edition selling out, launch day edition selling out, and Disgaea 5 charting higher digitally then Dragon Quest Heroes and Tales of Zestiria might have played a role.
It may not be 70k or 60k but its definitely not 26k anymore according to the Data Shop.
Does thia number count the demo? (I believe there was/is one.)
it does not.
Third parties would have to fully support it so lolnope. It's PS4 or death for the console market.
