Oh shit. I hope you all like tapping the A button. I was a bit interested in this game at first, but it looks like it could be extremely tedious and repetitive. Guess no one will be mining in this game.
It might do okay. Konami's AC clone (Magician's Quest) has done exceptionally, as did Capcom's Felyne spinoff, so there's at least some room in the genre for success outside the king. This game is going to bomba so badly, and it makes me real sad. Real sad, man.

On the other hand, launching after new 3DS installments of AC and MQ probably isn't one of Hino's smarter decisions. :/
Professor Layton's Fantasy LifeLevel-5 should rename themselves to "Layton Game Studio"

Dat music though :/
Is anyone going to make an OT for this? I picked it up and it's surprisingly good. The atmosphere is nice and the music is catchy at times. There's a lot to do in the game as you'd expect of a game borrowing cards from Animal Crossing.
I actually prefer this from tobidase because of the setting.
personally I am more more interested to this game that Animal Crossing
I have (and love) Animal Crossing and for the most part can get past the language barrier, would the text prove too much of an obstacle in Fantasy Life? Thanks! Is anyone going to make an OT for this? It´s absolutely fantastic.
It doesn´t play like animal crossing at all. And it doesn´t play much like harvest moon either.
It´s more of an adventure game where you actually use all the stuff you collect, find or make. Make new weapons as a blacksmith or new clothes as a needleworker. But to do that you need cloth and ore.
So you need to set out as a prospector.
And so on.
Everything fits together in a very nice way.
I am having a blast so far and I´ve barely scratched the surface.
Great game.
I've played this about 10 hours and I am really liking it. I am still in the starting area, switching professions. I get each one up to the ippashi (second rank after you graduate from novice) rank and then switch. They each have a short story that you need to play through before you can switch again. Once I have all the gathering and crafting professions, I'll go with kings guard profession and start exploring further out and doing the main story with all the armor, weapons, food (buffs), and potions I've crafted.
I am not sure if it will last, but it is pretty fun so far. If you like gathering and crafting it is definitely fun. The crafting mini-games are pretty much the same across for all professions, only with different animations and work tables. Still it was fun chopping down trees to make furniture for my home.
The combat is kinda simple, but I haven't tried much but the starting dagger and bow you get with the huntsman profession. I haven't fought any boss fights either.
Also, it takes like 10 seconds to save every time you save, which becomes really irritating after awhile. I've never had a game save take so long!
Haha, let me tell you about a dark time called the 32-bit era.
FF IV on the PSX is a great port with a nice fresh localization.
It however takes almost three minutes to save. I swear the first time it happened I thought the game had frozen.
