Fastest you've completely abandoned a $60 game after purchase

Watch Dogs. Thirty lr fourty minutes maybe? Really didn't like the protagonist.

I want to go back to it, to see if I'll enjoy it more with lowered expectations.

NFS Rivals is another.

Destiny

I was hyped after the first showing but wasn't really keeling up with the game. I assumed it's full on open world MMO with great loot variety and easy to meet players.

Maybe it's fixed now but at launch I wasn't a fan at all and returned after I tried it.

Didn't pay that much for it, but Spec Ops: The Line. I don't care how great a story it may have, I abandoned it after a few hours because the gameplay is seriously clunky.

A bunch of wii games that gaf hyped me for and that very quickly i realised they were just not for me. The mario soccer game, the endless ocean or whatever... many i don't even remember now.

Maybe i should try them again but my backlog is huge and with probably much better games than those.

Deus Ex Human Revolution on Steam. Installed it, payed 60$, and then:

The Last of Us. I played for about 45 minutes and was bored to tears. I realized I didn't give one shit about the game or anyone in it. I purchased the remastered version on PSN but have still never installed it.

I was excited for no man's sky.

Ended it with that first atlas quest bs thing or whatever.

All you do was mine shit so you could fill fuel crap up... Like wth.

I was hoping space exploration would save it for me but that didn't pan out at all.

No man's sky is probably the most recent. I also bought FIFA 15 only to play it for 5 minutes and never again.

Max Payne 3...just ended up doing every cinematic action game cliche that I hated in the first 2 hours. Once a cutscene went on long enough to turn my controller off from inactivity, and get me killed in some QTE-like sequence, I just couldn't care less to go back to that game.

This is basically No Man's Sky: The Thread.

That said, I saw that disaster a mile away and avoided it.

I haven't paid more than $38 for a game in years, so technically I haven't actually bought a $60 game. But the quickest I dropped a recent release and immediately got a refund was definitely Destiny. It was absolute garbage and a total let down at launch.

I'm aware its come a long ways, so have been tempted to pick up the Collection for $30 or less. But am unsure if it's too late to bother....

Came so close to pre-ordering NMS and I'm so happy I didn't.

I just don't pre-order or day 1 anymore other than a select few developers/series.

Been burned enough to know better.

I picked up the Assassin's Creed game that came out during PS4 launch, literally played it for about 20 minutes, thought to myself "you idiot you hate Assassin's Creed games" and took it to GameSTop.

Splatoon - only tried the single player mode as my wireless connection didn't work at that time. Never returned... thought that I couldn't keep up with other online players later on because no practice.

Fallout 4. Completed the first boss, died at some random enemies, got sent back to another barren forner and thought that I finished this game already, it's called Fallout 3.

I think mine was Unlimited Saga as well. I was at a stage of my childhood where I loved rpgs and thought the best way to measure the quality of an rpg was how long it took to complete. When I read in a magazine that Unlimited Saga was over 700 hours long I thought it'd be amazing but I quickly learned longevity wasn't everything!

Seldom do that except I'm motion sickness because of it.
For example Hitman, I dunno why I'm okay with all other games, but Hitman just give me dizzy.
I always come back or just keep it as collection until 1 day I will play it.

All Bethesda games due to their horrible gameplay, Battlefield 3 cause it was unplayable, Just Cause 3 cause it was just not as fun as JC2, Black Ops 3 campaign because wtf were they thinking

Fallout 4 on PS4. I bought it on release day for 60 and dropped it after three days. I did quit before the Brotherhood of Steel popped up. Bought it on PC a few months ago for 20 and gave a second chance. I managed to pump 75 hours into it and I'm still not finished. Great game on PC.

Other than that, probably FIFA 12 on PC. Bought it on release day, played three matches and then I dropped it.

Mafia 3 and Deus Ex Mankind Divided both spring to mind of recent games. I have no problem dropping something if not enjoying it regardless of how much it cost. I do not equate money spent with time commitment. If it's no good it's no good. Stop drop and roll mother trucker.

The Witcher 3. While the writing was excellent, it wasn't enough to overshadow the awful combat. I didn't find the open world all that interesting either.

Recently purchased WWE 2K17, played it for a few hours and got extremely bored.

It's not a bad game but I just can't reignite my previous love of wrestling games back from the PS1/N64 era.

Took it in today and traded it for Dishonored 2 instead.

Skyrim on PC

Bought it on release, played about 6 hours of it that weekend, never had the urge to go back to it, even own all the DLC as it cost me like £3 for it all at a xmas sale on steam a coupla years ago.

I did just download the free SE Remastered version though

Was super excited being a Max Payne fan back in the day as well. The fact that any of the New York Noir atmosphere and plot was stripped out sure as hell didn't help the absolutely ridiculous unskippable cutscenes.

I still have absolutely no idea how anyone into videogames would want to sit there for 10 minutes and watch a Z-grade Hollywood blockbuster plot and then be allowed to play for about 1 minute until the same shit repeats. I guess I'm old but...it's a VIDEO GAME, why the hell did they think it was a good idea to just not let me play the damn thing?

Seriously hated this game and dropped it after about an hour.

The cutscene issues in MP3 are absurd. Especially on a replay of the game. I figure it was to hide loading which is understandable. It's just that as far as I can remember there was never a time when the loading was ready before the cutscenes were over lol.

GTA IV

Bought the LE launch day 2008 and played it for almost a week. I think I very very very briefly played it again back in 2011 or so?

But yeah. All but abandoned.

Skyrim - Put it away the same day. Installed it on my 360, played the first section, German synchronization turned me off so I wanted to change it to English. Switched the system language to English, played again, still German. Could not believe it, looked up if there is DLC or an English voice pack. No.

This pissed me off so much I have never touched it ever since. Played it for 30-40 minutes.
