Fastest you've completely abandoned a $60 game after purchase

Killzone Shadow Fall

I preordered it before the PS4 launch. Played the first mission, then got distracted by Resogun, Don't Starve and a variety of other games.

I liked what I played. I'll return someday, Killzone... someday.

I have few abandoned games from year back I haven't even opened yet, and probably won't.
Not doing this anymore, only buying games now I will play once bought.

Took me and my cousins about an hour or so to beat Pokemon Snap. Walmart wouldn't let us take it back.

Three hours into Arkham Knight on PC. Steam refund. Crash fest. Performance was crap. Plus I hated the Batmobile tank levels.

Assassins Creed 2 and the new SSX. I don't know why either. Both games were exactly what I expected, but after 30 minutes in both of them I never went back.

I actually just played this/beat it.

I don't blame you, first hour of the game is pretty boring. Gets much better after that.

To this day I have not played more than 15 minutes of Splatoon. Got it on launch week.

Fully intend on coming back to it, just haven't yet.

I played Fallout 4 for about 4 hours before I didn't return. It just didn't grab me, not really sure why. Fallout has been a game I've wanted to be into and just hasn't happened.

45 minutes. white knight chronicles 2. completely ruined the magic of the first game by destroying the battle system. never been so dissapointed so fast

Crysis 2
Played MP for <10 hours, Quit campaign after chapter 2. Never touched it again until I sold it years ago.

I'll be honest, apart from Uncharted 4, It's been a while since I have spend $60 on a game. Last one might have been Witcher 3 on digital.

Sonic Unleashed. Returned within a day. My wife had to stop me from throwing it as far as I could out the door after nearly a day straight of playing meant I still couldn't proceed to one of the daylight stages. Once I discovered you had to S rank shitty stages ( and nearly ALL were shit) or you'd never have enough tokens to proceed to the far and in between enjoyable daylight hedgehog stages I pulled the thing out, boxed it up, opened the door and she had to grab my arm before I let it fly. I was literally quaking trying to keep my volume down as I went back to the story to return it. I'd foolishly bought into the hopeful reviews and footage that had almost entirely been non-werehog or shitty friend gameplay when it turns out that was almost ALL the game's levels were.

Worst mistake I'd ever made. They sympathized actually...I was a regular and I wasn't the first to apparently arrive in the same state back with their copy after launch. No questions full refund. Best I was ever taken care of by Gamestop.

The only one I can think of is GTAV. Got maybe four or five hours into the story and my interest just plummeted. Something about it just felt off.

It would be a massive list for me. Between 2003-2010 I was a PC gamer with a lot of disposable income. I used to buy brand new PC games for $100AUD, play them for like an hour, realise they were garbage then buy something else.

I have over 100 PC games in a box in my house and I would say atleast 20 of them I didn't play for more than 2 hours.

A few that immediately come to mind are:

Universe at War
Sacred 2
Stormrise
Two Worlds 1 & 2

The Division. I thankfully didn't purchase No Man's Sky, I played it at a friend's house and realized quickly that I wouldn't like it. The same friend had hyped up The Division to me before release, thus I was surprised to discover that I honestly hated it. It started off strong with neat loot and customization, as well as a somewhat interesting world, but that all quickly fell away and the initial love I felt for it was gone. I probably have 10 hours logged in it on Steam right now. I want to try it again, especially when the new expansion is released, but that's a ways off and more games will be out by then.

I bought Assassin's Creed III on a Tuesday and traded it in to GameStop on Thursday. I spent maybe 6 hours with it before I realized it was a waste of time.

Gotta be the first Watch Dogs for me, I played the intro level then I found out it had the worst driving in any game I've ever played. I couldn't take it so promptly returned it.

It has to be Zelda Wind Waker for Gamecube. My Mother bought me the (silver) Gamecube bundle with it when I was a kid. I was really excited, i set up the console, inserted the disk and... I think i've played (literally) 10-15 min max before asking my Mother to return it for either Mario sunshine, pokemon colosseum or starfox adventures. Needless to say i didn't like it at all even as a kid and i really don't know why. Maybe it's just not my kind of game, but sometimes i ask myself if i would like it today if i had the chance to play it again.

Xenoblade Chronicles X, a few days after I bought it. Got blindsided by an enemy way out of my league not long after I killed the first Tyrant. I wasn't super happy, so I turned the game off, and I planned on playing it again the next day. Never did, and it's been 11 months since then.

I don't buy 60$ games because I'm broke af.
The biggest purchase and regret for me was Overwatch. I got more entertainment value buying bf4 premium than Overwatch ever gave me.

I don't think I've ever bought a $60 game, not counting limited editions (which I wouldn't really count as just a game).

I went from GameCube to Wii to 3DS to Vita, and bought a PS3 only just this year (and I'd be hard-pressed to buy a $60 game for PS3 at this point).

That said, I can't think of any significant cases where I bought a full-price game and dropped it quickly. Backlogged it? Sure. But if I started it, I usually made it at least a good ways in before calling it quits.

Total War Rome 2. Launch was a disaster and I ended up playing it for like 6 hours before I decided to wait and come back when everything got patched. I never ended up coming back.

It's currently a tie between SFV & Doom for me (although I didn't pay full price for Doom).
SFV I bought on hype and ended up regretting it immensely.

Doom on the other hand, I bought on word of mouth and have not found myself enjoying it's light hearted / whimsical 'look how cool i am' gameplay... I knew going in that this game wouldn't be as serious as Doom 3 but even compared to the latest Wolfenstein I still can't enjoy it :(

I'm not going to be original, but I spend just 3 hours with No Man's Sky on it's launch. My issue with it was more specific though. I could imagine having fun with the game as it turned out to be exactly what I expected it to be - a huge walking simulator collectathon that would be my new "time to get comfy" game of choice. The thing is I couldn't deal with having so few "backpack" slots. It just didn't make sense to me to introduce a mechanic that directly contradict with the main premise of NMS. I am aware I can get more slots through upgrades, but I just didn't want to go through it.

Destiny
The Division
No Man's Sky

I won't ever let hype get the best of me again. I've been burned more this gen than any other gens combined.

Wonderful 101, on like the second level. A bunch of the specials weren't registering and I was like "fuck this I'm going back to Splatoon".

Probably Skyrim. Played 2 or 3 times and it didn´t click. Long intros before you can start playing is something I hate and then the combat was too slow and clunky for my tastes.

SFV. I play the game for like 20 mins before tun it off and never touch since :(

Not that it is a bad game or anything, it is just has absolutely nothing to do single player wise.
