Unlikely considering that Maiko is not only older but her backstory is that she was a Gravure Idol and her latest trailer showed her modeling.
imho Kiria previous outfit was very VERY tacky because lol at the zipper tong but I do think they could have done it better if they also changed her garterbelt and made it white
To be fair, if this is an idol game, my thoughts are that it the pose that we can see isn't why the outfit was changed.
But again, who knows, as someone else pointed out, there are skimpier outfits in the game. Hard to say.
We'll find out next week. I'm not super in love with the edit either, I think it's just a quick and dirty thing because, "oh god, we need to get this out and why are we changing anything?"
...but these aren't singers in the west.
Again, if it was a localization edit, i'd understand, but...it's not.
I mean...pretty sure it's just a reference to izanami.
Context doesn't matter. This isn't a real life person.
The hair hasn't changed.
Point taken. What if Treehouse is in talks with the dev staff and said changes are being implemented because the game is planned to be brought out west anyways?
Of course as you said that would be a localization change and shouldn't have any reflection on the original Japanese release.
I don't really want to bring this up, but I doubt this is a Nintendo thing. The most recent cases of censorship outcry recently was from Fatal Frame a Nintendo game, and now this one has changes too which is also a Wii U game. Then there was the Arc Rise Fantasia example posted above which was also again a Wii game.
There is also the Street Fighter V changes and the KT on the fence about DOAX3's Western release which disproves that trend.
Then again Bayonetta 2 was published by Nintendo and did not have any changes, so maybe it's just a recent trend because of the more critical eye on the portrayal of women in games as of late.
I know that the composer, Yoshiaki Fujisawa, came from a professional music/idol production company Avex Group. I couldn't find anything specifically about a fashion designer but again it certainly wouldn't be out of the norm for a project like this.
I've always found this argument a bit bizarre. It seems to say that, even though there are people who dress themselves a certain way in reality, those people either shouldn't be depicted in games or shouldn't be depicted accurately. Obviously strippers or nudists in games are fictional and have no free will. No fictional character has free will. But they're depictions of people who do have wills of their own, and every type of person who exists in reality, be they strippers, nudists, or idols, should and will be depicted in fiction.
It's bad thing to admit I'm not at all familiar with any of these characters?
I mean I tried to play some of the GBA Fire Emblem games but didn't really get into the series heavily.
My interest in this particular title is mainly due to the SMT and Persona style elements included therein.
So I look at the picture above with the girls in the swimsuits and I'm drawing a complete blank.
But when it comes to stuff like press-turn combat mechanics, post apocalyptic Tokyo, Shop references to SMT Demons like Jack Frost, I can relate tp
I don't care about the Idol thing really, it's inclusion or not does affect me. I'm still buying this game when it comes out west because it's a RPG by Atlus.
Although from what I understand it the SMT: Strange Journey and SMTIV directors are behind this particular project. So it being something new isn't a problem.
Even if it isn't merger of SMT and FE that some people were expecting.
Yea but the post you originally replied to was more in response to the people saying it was stupid because no one dresses like that, even though people do dress just like that in that industry. That isn't "pulling the context card," it's telling people who were saying that it doesn't make sense that they're wrong. Of course you're allowed to roll your eyes and think it's dumb, but you can't say it's unrealistic and has no place when, in the context it's in, it's perfectly normal.Right, but there's a nuance to it. It's not about whether something can be depicted in fiction or not, it's about the fact that the context card is all too often used to try and shut down any sort of criticism. If Miley Cirus appeared on a TV show with a thong that has a zipper outlining her labia majora, plenty of people would roll their eyes at that too regardless of the fact that she chose to wear it.

That's Izanagi, my friend. So, um... yeah. I contributed to this thread now.I mean...pretty sure it's just a reference to izanami.
This game's existence might be the most disappointing thing in gaming this generation (for me). Some of us were dumb enough to believe we'd have a freaking WiiU Fire Emblem, I imagined it was going to be like the Devil Survivor games, which combine SRPG with SMT combat. Somehow we got a Persona game set in TokyoI really like Fire Emblem and I love SMT, but this game just looks like hot trash to me.

Oh BTW, idols don't perform in thongs. Go watch some ABCDEFG48 concert, zipper thongs are NOT a thing (you see, because they're so pure, and they can't have boyfriends and stuff).
I mean, bikinis are a different thing, and this game has bikinis. Not zipper thongs. What? Yes they do.
I've seen TV commercials and stuff where they're wearing bikinis, it's definitely a thing.
Yeah, I mean, I used "perform" for a reason I know they do bikini shoots and stuff.I don't know about performances specifically cause I don't watch them, but AKB48 has a million swimsuit/lingerie calendars and shit. Not that it matters since they're far from the only idols in the world.

That already happened!Good. Now let's move onto getting Cammy some pants next.
Do they perform in thongs? If they don't, my point remains.Well you said thongs, not specifically zipper-thongs but sure, bikini/swimsuit and a thong, what a world of difference.
How did she manage to wear all of the 90's at once? That already happened!
The pants look like they were lazily added last minute.

I like how this topic gets like more posts than any other #FE thread.
Well, you see, censorship is a very serious issue!I like how this topic gets like more posts than any other #FE thread.

I stand corrected, idols perform in bikinis (and there are bikinis in this game, so yeah).

It went from bad to bad, I agree that muchBad design is a serious issue, stop trying to twist it.
wow not only did the censor her crotch but also her personality
It went from bad to bad, I agree that much
To be fair, that was in Final Fight: Streetwise, which was pretty much shit in everything it tried to do. Thankfully, Capcom didn't try to put Cammy in anything loose fitting ever again. That already happened!
I won't feel AS uncomfortable now if I ever play the game.
Not really, they are idols. Sexualization is their job. That and catchy tunes.
