FFX/X-2 HD: Vita or PS3?

Wish I hadn't bought FFX-2 from someone for my vita when the game came out :( Had no idea FFX was never going to be sold as a stand alone so now I have my handy dandy PS3 disc and X-2 on my Vita but no X :(

It's 19.99 on PSN.

I would have thought PS3 would be your best bet but having recently started playing it on Vita I am absolutely loving the ability to pick up and play using the suspend/resume function. Go for Vita.

If you can only choose one then definitely the Vita. You were able to play ffx on consoles long time ago. The portable aspect has such bigger value

Yep, Vita for me as well. After P3P and P4G, I can't stand being chained to a TV for long stretches to play console RPGs.

Bought it yesterday for my Vita, so worth it just for the suspend and resume function. Though I'm biased since I like JRPGs on my handhelds than I ever will on consoles or PC.

You literally said a big screen is 'the way games are meant to be played.'
Well yes my mistake. It's true though I'll prefer to play any game on a tv. That's why I wish the Vita had more exclusives. Pretty much every time if there's a console/PC version of a game I'm going to chose that version.

I had the option of getting the vita version or ps3 version but I went with the ps3 version of the game. I'm not disappointed so far, game looks great.

I already own the PS3 version from launch and with the sale this week I'm really tempted to get the Vita version since I'm more inclined to play portable RPG's these days.

For a grindfest that FF X is, I'd say the Vita version is the best option. I really wouldn't care about any of the bonus/monster arena/celestial weapons quests if I had to be on sitting in the sofa exclusively.

Question RE FFX

been years and years since i played it at launch: does anyone remember how long it takes for the game to "open up"? ff games always take a few hours to get going and i want to set aside some time to play the intro in one go

It never opens up. The game is pretty much a linear straight path the entire way through, it gives you some 2 min divergence dead ends for a chest here and there but until the Calm Lands it's a straight road. At around 30-35 hours you get the airship which is operated via a map system which allows you to revisit the same linear areas, the end game is pretty much undoable without faqs either, the endgame is designed to be played with a guide, like most JRPGs, but this game especially as you have to do some asinine castlevania 2 leaps of faith to actually do anything with the endgame.

The Final Fantasy X maingame is a great game with a great battle system and lots of strategy and a decent plot. The endgame is for people who have obsessions of completion as the quests to get ultimate weapons are extremely tedious for the most part, monster capturing is tedious, blitzball is wack, the chocobo game is random and is a pain, and if you actually do the lightning dodging you might have to ask yourself some questions(lol@having Analogs to control chocobos being a negative). I did do some of those quests as a teenager, but you're better off using your time playing other games rather than playing the 40-50hour extra endgame.
