Fighting Games Weekly | April 9-15

I wonder if any Japanese are going to Stunfest. There hasn't been any announcements so maybe not? They've made a habit of attending big French tournaments, but maybe they're going to skip this one.

I know of a few coming out for Garou: Wata, Tsubo and Kento. Haven't heard anything else yet though.

Like....mugen????

naw, like LoL kinda. Say there was 50 characters, and they rotated who was free each week or something.

Or if it was like TF2. Everybody is available to play. You got your default costume and that is all. Then you had to pay for skins, clothes, colors, replays if you wanted (for the storage and upload), replay editing feature, stuff like that.

Say Capcom made a generic super hero fighting game with the MVC3 engine. They designed their own superheroes, and build around it. Charge for special villain month.

IDk, just thinking out loud.

I know twitch was having a problem this week/late last week where any archived video over two hours basically got deleted. Not sure if that could be why it disappeared.

Yeah, that's been a problem, but the archive was actively removed in this case.

I just tried the banana snapple Yipes and Matrix were raving about. It truly is amazing. It tastes like a delicious and light banana smoothie. Shoutouts to Yipes and Matrix.

There is an IRC, I don't remember what it is though. Popped in during the GAF blackout and last I checked it was full of SF-GAF, banned GAF, and Hates-Every-Other-Game-SF-GAF.

Yeah I know about #gafranbats and they're cool dudes, but it's more sf centric than the sort of theoretical channel I'm talking about. Besides that channel already has it's established little thing going on.

Im talking something more general and hopefully larger. You get what I'm trying to say?

Looks like he has them hidden. You can hide your archives. According to his stats, he has three videos.

Edit: I was right.

you guys bring up a good point-- why the hell not? it worked for joe.

Players can get the community to rally around them for these sorts of things. Just like joe said-- you don't have to have a connection to the product in any way.

For all the sponsorship talk, there isn't a lot of creativity in getting money to players. on the other hand, I don't think a lot of them care.

Yeah. I'd be down for it. Could double as a GAF stream chat too.

So I was bored and decided to count the number of players pre-registered for each game at Power UP, and here they are

UMVC3: 46
SSF4AE: 44
SFxT: 58
MK9: 28
SCV: 25
KOFXIII: 27
VS: 22
ST: 6
SK: 22

For those of you who aren't familiar with older games or lesser known games
VS = Vampire Saviour
ST = Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
SG = Skull Girls

Just a couple of reminders, first off expect those numbers to grow because tons of people always show up at the door. But at the same time, you shouldn't be disappointed by the early numbers nor the final numbers. They just started 2 years ago and neither of there first 2 tournaments had turn outs anywhere close to the likes of CEO or NCR, let alone monsters like the past Winter Brawl or Final Round(both 1000+). Two years ago when SF4 was the only hot shit, they had 74 people for that game. Last year when MvC3 was the hot shit, they barely broke 100 with 106.

It doesn't sound like it needs to be a 3 day event, but I guess that's not their main concern. Hopefully everybody who attends has a good time and we can stream monster it up. On the plus side, Power Up also adopted the $20 per game model that Season's Beating started last year. So there is more money on the line compared to most tournaments.

Probably anywhere from 240-320 for the three capcom games. Probably 60-100 for MK9, and SC5.

I wonder where KOF 13 will end up. Final Round showing was nice, so hopefully 128ish. As far as Skull Girls is concern I hope it does well, even though I'm not a fan it. I think 64 for that would be really good.
