Fighting Games Weekly | Dec 2-8 | Everybody Wins!

Okay, time to stop derailing this thread with emo.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to make a normal training session stream more interesting and fun to watch?

I'm thinking of trying to stream really regularly in the future, but one thing I run into is that it's hard to make boring fighting game stuff (like combo practice) more interesting and fun.

So what do people like seeing when they watch streams like that?

Obviously Aquasilk has his crazy SPD/U2 reads, and PR Balrog is an extremely high-class player. But on the flip-side, a lot of excellent players get somewhat ignored when they try and stream. So what's the x-factor?

Well, you'll have a good number of viewers on the first stream, 'cause you're famous now, so that's your chance to show that you are funny, or that you can show boobs, or that your stream will have some appeal

I would like to learn how to use training mode more effectively instead of just grinding out combos because I'm bored.

Huw you've earned my respect because you actually went to a tournament and competed--something I really want to do soon.

Civil War is so far away ; A;

epic tournament confirmed

Wtf, who forgot to close the door to deckards cave??

this made me lol

Let's see, 5-9 was an 80% increase in recovery time on the dive kick. Yeah, that might have been a bit much even with height restriction lowered. Losing unblockables and adding delayed wake ups should already do a number on the one knockdown is fatal thing that characterized SF from AE onwards.

It's hilarious seeing Rufus players act like an extra frame recovery on their divekick is the end of the world a patch affer Yun got an extra 2 and in the same patch Cammy got an extra 4.

If I can find the Cammy Divekick on hit and on block chart a Cammy poster on SRK made everyone would realize how stupid another 4 frames of recovery was.

Cept the fuck cammy that cheap ho crowd.

I say keep Ken as he is for the most part and buff everybody else who probably needs it. I want a strong cast where a lot of characters can win and are fun to play. Not a bunch of weaklings where anybody can win because everybody sucks.

Would be ideal, but I doubt it will happen. Already a heap of people crying about Ken, doesn't help that Eventscrubs says his sweep is unpublishable so their stupid readers take it as fact.

And no Mr Valle, Ken's 7 frame sweep that's -6 on block isn't the same as Gouken's which is 6 frame startup and -3 on block.

James' suggestion to just bring back Super Cammy actually sounds really good.

Yeah, I would like to see Cammy as the strongest character in the game again too.

Considering Dreamhack I am probably the worst person in the world to be talking about Rufus changes, but the one-frame recovery increase on his divekick made it feel really off. It's getting fixed happily.

It isn't unpunishable, but -6 isn't really too punishable. Akuma's sweep is also -6 or something like that, but in most cases you're not going to be able to punish Akuma when you block his sweep.

Ken's sweep has always been harder to punish, was the trade off for being the slowest of the shoto sweeps.

Ryu - 5 frame startup, -14 on block (can combo into on crouching characters, only character able to IIRC, lol @ DWU hurting this advantage)
Akuma - 6 frame startup, -9 on block
Ken Vanilla/Super/2012 - 8 frame startup, -6 on block
Ken AE - 7 frame startup, -7 on block
Ken Ultra Current - 7 frame startup, -6 on block (you can pretty much lock his Ultra sweep being like his AE sweep I reckon....)

Obviously you don't expect any additional buffs after the first round of changes, with that in mind... if Rufus had his DK recovery added frame removed and lets say the ultra dmg nerfs got cut in half, would you be happy enough as in, "I still have something to work with" as opposed to "R.I.P in peace Rufus".

And keep in mind that the stronger looking characters atm will probably be toned down a bit as well. See Ken, Juri and Evil Ryu getting hit with the nerfbat from 2012 alpha to 2012 beta. Pity those 3 characters didn't get through as they were...

I don't think we can use that list as indication that Divekick is coming to the Xbox One unless you think LittleBigPlanet Vita is coming to the One as well.

Not that it wouldn't make sense for Divekick to also be on the One but I wouldn't use that list as an indication of anything.

“All developers care about is being able to make the games they want and get them into the hands of as many people as possible. Now, thanks to ID@Xbox, Iron Galaxy can bring Divekick to a Microsoft platform for the first time. We've been working on Xbox One games for a while now, and because of that you can bet Divekick will take advantage of all the platform's unique capabilities.”

Ah okay that's cool. It's good for it to be on as many systems as possible. Now hopefully we can get at least a vague release date soon.

Make it a social thing. Either have a friend over so viewers can listen to you guys banter, or actively engage the stream chat. Respond to questions from the chat. Ask the chat for their opinion (e.g. "Is Ken gonna be top tier in ultra? press 1 for yes, 2 for no"). If viewers can participate in the stream it will keep them coming back. Popular streams like FGTV, Bum, and Aquasilk all do this. There WILL be trolls; either ignore them and answer the serious questions, or embrace it.
