IF HM went away when Doom got hit, it would be useless. Due to how long he is out. Doesn't give him horizontal coverage unlike drones.

That is one of the most least thought out nerfs.
Bullshit because its the responsibility of the point player to cover his assist. If people can protect Drones they can protect missiles. You think people are going to interrupt Doom while stuff like AV, Swords or Sogenmu is on screen?

And if by some chance missiles becomes useless (unlikely) Doom still has two great assists to fallback on. Rocks is a better anti teleport/rushdown assist that missiles anyway.

Doom stays on the screen way longer then Sent.

HM would be useless. both when I fight a HM team, and when we watch an average match with a HM team, Doom gets hit more then half the time he's called in.
 
Panda is making me lose my shit here, but just replace Missiles with Photon Shot. Still good for screen coverage, just not OP.

And Doom is a better character than Sentinel, Hidden Missiles tracks even at SJ height, combo breaks (even in this nerfed edition they will combo break if the player gets them all out), can OTG while also providing a lock down.

Doom gets hit so often because people are so willy nilly with the brain dead assist in the first place. You incorporate that nerf in people will allow Doom to get hit less often and will be smarter with their calls. Right now there is no such thing as a "smart" Hidden Missile call, you call it whenever it's off cooldown. ChrisG uses it whenever even if he knows that you can snipe it with a hyper because that just means Morrigan or Vergil will run you down while you are low on resources.

Hell even if all you changed of Doom was replacing Missiles with Photon Shot Doom would still be a staple character. People act like Hidden Missiles is all there is to Doom when the Doom was performing the most TAC infinites at SCR all day long.

Pretty much. If people think HM nerf will be the end of doom, they are indeed on some drugs. He has the easiest combos, the easiest infinite, and builds meters like nobody else. She Hulk was put into the fucking dumpster, and Doom has everything going for him, and then some. I know people like their marvel brain dead, but the no strategy mash HM shit is just laughable.
 
I am just waiting for the Sanford rant and putting EC on blast. Even though ChrisG is the best nobody can deny that he was getting worked all through that top 16. This should be a wake up call for the EC.

Would this really make him Top Tier though? He doesn't gain and speed in movement. Although no denying how much damage and dangerous he'd be.

Well, it'd give him access to Turnabout much faster and more importantly which would give him the priority and reach needed to battle folks, finger of doom and all that. His paper work becomes like straight crazy ass projectile in Turnabout because of how much space it covers as well. Plus, giving him the ability to touch of death characters more readily would allow him to function as a part of a team.

I'd generally agree that he needs a full redesign though.

Doom would be fine if they nerfed HM. His other 2 assists are awesome. You would just have to cover HM better when they are flying up and out.

I rotate between all 3 dooms assists, but when I play HM I call that shit all willy nilly. Haha.

so good characters should have shitty assist?

You cant balance an assist on how good a character is, it should be on the functionality of the assist itself. there's good reason why Drones disappear when Sent is hit, but Bomb Drones dont, the speed the assist comes out and recovers and the space it occupies and for how long.

outside of combos, Hidden Missiles is not an issue a FULL 2-3 seconds on when its called out, unless your right top of em in the air. making Missiles disappear when hit would make that assist as useless as Daggers of Denak.

I think reducing the amount of missiles or lower its homing ability a bit are better ways to address this assist.

Why are people not calling to nerf Vajira since it breaks combos and yes vajira can AA if not blocked but is a hard knockdown which means makes certain characters more powerful. Or nerf Jam Session since it does equally as much as hidden missiles?

HM becoming ASS would be HURT character variety in the long run. HM as an assist is one of the things that makes point Hawkeye good.

It covers the gap of his arrows.

Means teleporters would maul those who use HM at the beginning of the match. Making those teams worthless. It does need to be worked and fixed but that nerf would totally obliterate several teams and make several characters unviable in the long run.

Because you can punish bad Vajra calls hard.

Or when you are in the air and then you try to follow up and get punished.

People having trouble with teleports should use Rocks or Repulsar Blast. Buff up Iron Man.

Vajra should be nerfed too. Jam Session is alright because it doesn't give you full screen presence like the other two. Once you fix the top tier characters in terms of their damage scaling, the multiple hits from Jam Session would be a big factor because any hit from Jam Session wouldn't lead to much high damage. Right now Zero + Jam Session is broke because Zero can confirm off that shit easily and doesn't give a crap about scaling. If his damage scaling was Firebrand quality it wouldn't be as scary or if his lightning wasn't as busted.

Obviously complimenting HM nerf would be nerfs to the rest of the top tiers too. Vergil/Zero etc would get nerfed. Vergil is really the only teleporter character that gives zoning players trouble.

NO characters should have broke assists. Doom already has Plasma Beam and Rocks plus a nerfed Missiles would still be a great assist so it's not like I am cracking down on good characters with good assists. It's the same reasoning for nerfing Lariat and Gustaff Flame, those assists were broke and brain dead despite the quality of the character itself.

Varja is one hit the chance of it breaking a combo is low as hell, while with HM any single one of the missile can break. Not only that but the missile doesn't even need to hit because they're so many if then if you see it coming it cover so much ground that even blocking over evading it kills all combos. I'm currently posting on my phone so i can't post video example but I'll do it later tonight.


As for jam session even though the vertical range is high the horizontal range is extremely small. It cover maybe 1/12 of the screen. While missiles vertical range is unlimited, and its horizontal range can be
1/4 the screen. You can test this out in training mode just walk under HM and so how far you actually go.

We haven't even talk about lock down yet.... I'll try to compile video of all this later if it makes it any easier.

Uh what? Are you basically saying Vajra is just as OP because people can make it safe whereas HM is pretty much always safe because it is the only assist that can effectively protect itself?

Vajra is NOWHERE near as bullshit. It's a good assist, but it's not the Swiss Army knife that Doom missiles is that goes with pretty much every team composition. Doom missiles shouldn't be able to OTG fucking TWICE on top of being a godlike lockdown assist and missiles persisting after punishing Doom. Missiles stands alone in the amount of shit an assist can do functionally, and pretty much has all the good traits an assist can have whereas others have downsides. The only thing Missiles is missing is invincibility.

Eh that's a lengthy discussion, have to take it to the OT.

This thread is just for Hidden Missiles salt.

Ideally speaking every character should be a capable point while having 3 useful assists. Right now only a few characters fit that bill like Dante, Doom and Strider.


Every character in the game goes with a beam assist, saying get rid of HM kills character variety is really stretching it.
It kills variety because a shit ton of characters can't do anything about flyers hiding behind Hidden Missiles at super jump height throwing plasma..

They stated they didn't want to balance that way pre-MvC3 release. (I agree with the decision.)
 
Jam session eats projectiles, can serve as a combo extender, locks down and cuts movement of the screen in half which is a pretty big thing for a lot of character like Viper and Zero and Dorm.

And Vajira combo breaking is just as easy as HM due to the fact it grounds you if hits you close to the ground. And the way it starts up.

All I have seen in the thread is people crying for HM to be nerfed adn no talk about jam session or vajira.

EDIT: It actually would. Teleporters would run rampant and unlike MvC2 where non tridashers could compete against tridashers with certain normals/specials, teleporter just go boom I am in there, work? I win.
