Will buy once price drops. Graphically, it looks "okay". The reviews out of Japan have been very good, and the few people on GAF who have played Type-0 enjoyed the character development and lore. Isn't that the main reason why most people play FF games, not the graphics?
Is the game confirmed 60fps?
Video ain't.
And the rts bits still look like shit. Just high resolution shit with bloom![]()
Nice, but not worth $60 imo. Should've been $40. Got a pre-order thanks to WM
Yeah... if the excuse of no 60fps because they couldn't get a locked 60 with THESE VISUALS... there are bigger problems that need to be addressed. If this was a cheap low budget port , sure, But this is a $60 game with visuals of a B tier ps3 game at best with closed environments and they pretty much redid everything (so the excuse of animations being tied to 30 fps should be null).
Did they ever get 60fps to work properly for the animations for the psp emulator?
It's downright shameful for SE to charge $60 for an up-rezzed PSP game that came out 4 years ago that has had features stripped out. They know people will buy it because it never came out here and they're throwing in a FFXV demo but I hope most people vote with their wallets and let SE know that this kind of crap won't fly.
TL; DR: Will buy it at $20 a year from now because I hate myself.
I cannot believe this is a deal breaker for people.
The main reason I enjoy the FF games I do like is due to the stat grind and combat gameplay, so that's what has to be decent for me to enjoy it.

I think they did a decent job with this. The price tag is the problem here.
Yeah. I actually had not checked on the price yet, but $60? Who the fuck are they kidding? It doesn't look like it's worth more than even $30 at best.
First thing that I noticed was how good the PSP game looked, it really did look nice.
Next, the crystal theme is the best theme in gaming for sure.
I honestly would have been more comfortable if they charged less for type 0 and pulled a GZ with Episode Duscae, just selling it separately.

It's a to each his own situation. You fall under the Optimizer/Power Gamer type of RPG player. Others won't give a rat's ass about that and look for games that tell them a good story, etc. They're weird.
Definitely the same for me.
I played about 20 hours of the JP version w/ patch and enjoyed it, but could see it getting a bit repetitive. I do love how diverse the characters are with playstyles, though.
How long is the game? I'm sure its been asked before, but how is the story compared to say Final Fantasy XIII?
$30 for Type-0, $30 for FFXV demo.
It's not exactly related to the PSP to HD comparison, but since this is the most recent Type-0 thread, gametrailers played the game and uploaded an 11 minute video with tons of footage (and some spoilers).

Main story I think is shorter than FFXIII (about 35 hours or so if you power through), but there's a lot of side content. I think for a 100% playthrough you would have a 100 or so hours game. Specially if they keep the options of redoing missions on a harder difficulty (which can get pretty hard if you like that stuff).
A lot of stuff is missable also, even the airship is missable.
Cool, way shorter games come out for $60 these days. I mean how does the story compare to a mainline title, like XII or XIII? Does it feel spin offy, or does it feel like a real FF title with politics and plot twists?
I've said it before, but I put this between Crisis Core and a mainline title.
It doesn't feel like Crisis Core, but it doesn't feel like FFXII. There are politics, there is a deep plot (and the world has a lot of lore), but they kinda ditch character development (story-wise) in favor of constantly throwing in new characters and having you interact with them.
It's a good story. I enjoyed it more than XIII (and I am not a XIII hater).
I mean I'd love to be able to look toward games like this for a good story. My problem is 98.9% of all games have miserably written stories and so I find if I don't shut my brain down before the narrative horror critically overloads my brain cells I'll end up not enjoying my experience in these types of RPGs
Ah, you're on my trusted GAFer list, so if you say you enjoy the combat I definitely perk up. What did you like about it if you don't mind expanding on it a bit?
Not sure if there will ever be a point in the game when you're forced to use specific characters, but with 12 or 14 characters, I could see that being an issue.
It is not my deal breaker. I'm going to buy it.
However, the graphic of this game is not even better than FF XIV on PS4 and FF XIV can run steady at 60 FPS.
