There are no numbers for now. I really doubt is a bomba, they're posting few details here and there on the topic of the sales and it seems actually to be doing pretty well (rumored around 650/750k first week). Maybe later in this afternoon we will have actual numbers to talk about from famitsu instead of preliminary numbers.

If the story is worse or at least not better, and the combat is easier, why do you like it better than FFXIII? It sounds worse.

All I want to know is if the game does a better job of making you care about the characters and setting.

If those two factors are represented well, then you can usually look past ridiculous plot points (riding a whale to the moon, main character is actually a dream, etc).

So does the sequel at least depict the characters in a more favorable light?

Yeah, I mention that based purely on minor chatter online. A few people tweeted on launch day about the game already being 25% off on Amazon.jp, someone tweeted a pic of a store shelf full of copies all discounted, etc.

To my knowledge, there haven't been any reports in the media that have pegged the game as underperforming.

Oh, I was wondering... So with regards to the monsters' growth patterns, from what I've seen, they have three types of growth:
- 大器晩成
- 成長良
- 早熟

I'm going to guess that depending on these natures, that'll affect how many of each item you have to use to make it level up through the Crystarium, with 大器晩成 monsters taking up the most items and 早熟 taking up the least...? That seems logical to me, I don't know if that's replicated in-game...

Noel looks like he's a better Enhancer and Healer than Serah, just because he gets way more abilities than her... But I guess it's better to use monsters for support if you need to fight bosses quick or to act as punching bags (ie: provoking Defenders).

Leta's stream only has 2 fragments to go for 100%. Rumors are that it opens up the true ending, but...
apparently one of the fragments comes from Slots.

Edit: Ahaha, I just recalled that there's a trophy for
accumulating lots of casino coins, so people going for the plat will have to do that anyway!

When he gets 100% is he going to rate the game against FFXIII?

Ke, this again? I think we went there. IMO Japanese developers this gen simply decided to switch to handhelds, great games came out. Look how many studios folded in the West just because one HD game was a flop. Hardly a good business model.

What a cruel mistress the gambling mini-game is.

If someone sees the max fragment ending, please let us know vaguely if it's good, how it compares to FFXIII or at least if it's better than the other endings.

We're unsure if it's true, since there is a trophy for collecting all Fragments. So... until Leta completes the game with all fragments we have no idea if there's another ending.

that Serah costume should have been the default one, it's so much better than the one we got in the game D: as if they did this on purpose so that people buy DLC.
it's preorder bonus for us so not bad.

How come so many people are importing the game? I thought it was Japanese text only?

I hope Square Enix continues the tradition of pricing their DLC lower outside of Japan. They did that for Dissidia012, and I ended up buying a bunch of the DLC (until PSN died and stopped me from wasting more money!). If the pricing is the same as Japan, I don't see myself buying any DLC other than story content. 300yen is too much for costumes and shit.

Especially when coming after the release of the game. I don't understand why someone should go back to the game just for a new costume. It makes sense in a fightning game like Dissidia because you always have reasons to go back playing it from time to time. But when you complete a jRPG, chances are lower to do so.
I'm really looking forward to BOSS-DLCs and SCENARIO-DLCs though. Hoping they'll be worth.
