The good news:

- Okay Alexander doesn't transform into a hoverboard...

- Yay you actually get to ride a Chocobo around in the overworld of Pulse!

The bad news:

- W....T......F......am I look at? :(

Looks like shit. Wow...

So...Alexander is a tank...or something?

And wtf are those Chocobos? Seriously, just what the fuck. The more I see of this game the less interested I get.

Are those... droopy ears? Interesting. Oh well, at least they're in the game. Though, wasn't it confirmed they would not be used for transportation? Is this a last minute change or was that a mistranslation?

Has summons always been this big of a deal with Final Fantasy? I'm not a hardcore FF fan or anything, but when I played the previous games I never used the summons at all. And now, most of the time I hear new news about FF13, it's about the damn summons and my interest in these are the same as the previous games, none. I enjoyed FIGHTING the summons prior to getting them in FF12, however...

Did you play FF6-8? They were pretty important in those since there were a lot. They were really important storywise in 6, 8, and 10. That doesn't seem to be the case for 13, at least not yet.

Just saw the scans.

The chocobos look pretty standard. Just with a more pronounced mohawk and....long feathery ears. What the...?

And at least Alexander still sort of looks like Alexandar. That's more than you can say for Bahamut.

Everything other than melee and buffs was useless in XII.

Anyway, watch them reveal Vanille's summon one week before the game is released. :/

This might sound a little weird and possibly slightly racist but that isn't my intention at all. Does anyone think there will be any non-Asain motion capture actors? It's not a big deal, it just looks weird when a character is clearly not Asian yet they have an Asian face (thought it was weird in Advent Children as well).

Edit: Also FFIX's summons were awesome.

You think everything from IX is awesome.

Perhaps in the late endgame, but if my recent play through(which included all hunts) is an indicator, offensive magic is useful throughout unless you grind(to get the best weapons) or you went after the ZP early. Melee is certainly king, but i wish people exaggerated less (of course the higher levels spells paled in comparisson to the -agas and summons were always garbage).

As for the scans, that has got to be the ugliest chocobo i have ever seen. And Alex-tank does no surprise me one bit.

Haha.

uh erm yeah, this just looks all kinds of bad.
Wow, that looks pretty bad. Like a PS2 emulator rendering at 720p or something. Easily the least impressive FF13 screenshot so far.

You're making me nervous. Maybe I shouldn't have asked :/

There's nothing inherently wrong with the question, but they ARE a Japanese company. Why shouldn't they use Japanese models?

That's true, but I think it would be more progressive when the character models reflect their intended nationality. Capcom has no problem doing it. I know they try to appeal more to the westeern audience, but the FF fanbase is kind of equal in Japan and the west if we go purely by sales.

Again, this isn't a big deal and it really doesn't bother me. I would just assume with the way Wada is talking about appealing to the rest of the world, they would be more open to finding oversea motion capture actors for non-Asian characters like Capcom does.

Final Fantasy doesn't take place on Earth, and the models don't look like real people do anyway.

The PAL boxart better be the logo on a plain white background still.

Don't go changin' a good thing now.

This whole game has the art style of a bad trip of a character from another Final Fantasy game. Watch the game end with Marlene waking up from bed as a teenager, looks into the camera... then fade to black. THE END.

Eh, I guess. I do know a guy that looks like Sazh though.

here's a good example of why Asian mocap actors should be used by pretty much every game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH_H-2PHJCE

:lol :lol :lol

There's exaggerated movements and then there's...that. The horrible voice acting and lip syncing makes that scene amazing. Looks like I need to get Clock Tower now.

CGI animation will never evolve if they keep using mo-cap actors for everything. Animation is supposed to come from the hand of the animator!

He transforms into some sort of shooting fortress? Isn't that pretty much the same thing as his non-Gestalt mode? I mean what?

EDIT: Oh, he floats. Well, that's... still not enough to justify a transformation.
