NOooooooo!!! not the FF12 fucking crystal! never again...

So based on all the coverage so far, are these all the named locations within Cocoon we know of?

Hanged Edge
Palumpolum
Lake Bilge
Eden
Nautilus Park

It seems that the development team is keeping true to the promise of making Cocoon feel really huge, like a world on its own. I wonder what the ratio of game content is between Cocoon and Pulse. It'll be a little disappointing imo, if Cocoon is huge and awesome, while the "overworld" of Pulse feels tiny and non-interactive in comparison. Hopefully there's a good balance and we just haven't seen anything yet. :)

Depends. According to Yoshino Kitase, the main game's length will be about 50 hours long. How long do you suppose we'll have to stay in Cocoon? In comparison, getting out of FFVII's Midgar for the first time took what, 5-10 hours (I remember 7 hours, but could be wrong)? I remember wanting to get out of that place so bad, just to see the new world map, which in turn did not disappoint. That said, I don't think Pulse will disappoint either. I have faith in S-E.

On a side note, anyone else think that Cocoon will crash into Pulse at one point? :lol

I wonder. What if you stay in Cocoon long enough for some big tragic event(maybe 10 to 15 hours w/o sidequests). Then you go to Pulse and explore the meaning behind that event(and more character development). 20 hours. Then go back to Cocoon for some showdown(the last part of the game)? Of course it could work the other way around altogether too. And there's no telling where you might end up at once you find out more about the planet :lol

Either way, the world of FF13 really makes you want to know more about the cities, culture, and people...... That 50 hours will easily be topped

That would be funny.

I'm wondering if Pulse might just be a gigantic and not as intricately detailed field covered in monsters and if that location we've seen is just going to be especially huge (like Shadow of the Colossus overworld sized or bigger). Think of Pulse as monster-hunt sidequest central, basically.

That, or it'll get detailed as a place with more specific locations in magazines in the next couple of weeks, which is more likely.

I can imagine that given the length of the last Final Fantasy, which I'd place at around 45-50 hours or so versus how long was spent in Rabanastre and the area directly around it...I'd wager it'll be the same for Cocoon.

And if the Fortress Bahamut can crash, I'm guessing Cocoon will "fall" at some point.

Yeah. It'd feel like such a cliché though. I hope it doesn't fall. To the ground, at least.

So far, from all the trailers, and the several songs from the demo, I think it's probably the worst soundtrack I've listened to :/

I do like the boss battle theme, but the average battle theme is boring and repetitive, I'm going to have to kill the audio [mute] while I play this game, I can already tell. As for the main theme, I'll just not speak on that :X

I have a tough time deciding how I feel about the soundtrack so far. On the one hand, what has been sampled so far is leaps and bounds better then the generic battle themes and swelling orchestrations of FFXII. On the other hand, I'm not altogether impressed with the tracks we've heard outside of the battle themes, I suppose I'm spoiled by Shimomura and Uematsu nostalgia.

Have it fall into an ocean.

I'd rather have it just fall, as in politically. Keep it afloat... holy shit, the false metaphores keep popping out of nowhere. Better not discuss this shit any further. It's bound to be misunderstood. :lol

Agito in the summer and Versus at the end of the year. Predicting it now.

Not happening. The PSP games have always been playable at an event about a year before release. When Agito is first playable, just add 12-15 months to that date and you'll get the release date.

I suppose we'll be able to use BBS's Western release date as a guide...sorta.

Square Enix is a very rapidly changing company though. They not only went and bought Eidos for more than they're worth, they also released a mainline Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy in the same fiscal year.

Their historical record might not be the best way to predict anymore.

Wow... in-engine shots of the actual environments.

...

Some of them are kinda underwhelming. I blame the way that the red part of the building in the first two shots look.

I want a poster of this so bad.

:O

This shot is not in-engine, as it is sporting too many of the software-rendered effects from all the FMVs we've seen. However, since thats the case, I'd love a wallpaper-resolution version :D

I don't know. Personally, I think the composition of that particular picture isn't very good. It looks like they just wanted to cram as much stuff in there as they possibly could. You hardly even notice Snow and the others riding that Shiva bike because there's just too much going on around them. The bottom half needs work, but the upper part looks good, at least.

It looks only slightly better then a messy photo shop orgy. 20 Yen says it will end up being the NA Boxart or reverse Boxart.

I don't think anyone in their right mind ever thought that was in-engine :lol

I think FFXIII could do better with some more textures and polygons.:lol Seriously though the game doesn't look polished at all...especially some of the environments. But I guess you can only go so far with making an RPG this big.

Hating on Hamauzu is a felony.

And some of those shots aren't particularly great. Japanese games this gen are just entirely too clean. They need to throw some dirt around.

The lack of cinematic DOF kind of puts it in a state of possibilities. There are some games where the BGs are 2D (or video) for a particular playable sequence. I'm almost certain XIII will do this for certain magical attacks, etc.

Still, must agree that it is indeed a very cluttered shot. Some DOF and hi/low keying might make it better. I'd attempt a "sort of like this picture" but there is too much going on in the scene for me to bothe.

Would definitely want it as a poster, because then it won't feel so cluttered when everything is big :D

The building in London or the theme park ride?

That place would be the best water park ever.

Theme park ride.

The think in London is the Millenium Eye. Unless there's some hidden London monument I don't know about....

Somebody photoshop this into a PS3 boxart. I'm gonna print that and put it in my BRD cover. Hate that crappy blank white background in the official boxart.

One thousand deaths are not enough for you -.-

Though I imagine you did it on purpose >.<
