The next Jump scan(s) should be interesting. Chocobos are going to be shown, and apparently they look really cute. And Hope's summon is also revealed as Alexander. :)

Yeah, just saw that.
Interested to see what Alexander looks like... hoping he looks less stupid than Bahamut.

Lightning - Odin
Snow - Shiva
Sazh - Brynhildr
Fang - Bahamut
Hope - Alexander
Vanilla - ???????
Given that we've seen Siren, Ifrit, and Carbuncle and it's at this point no longer possible for them to be for unassigned characters, I'm leaning toward the earlier statements that Vanille might be a summoner who can call upon multiple organic summons. If that turns out to be true it's phenomenal guesswork.

You are mistakenly assuming that Siren, Ifrit and Carbuncle will be gameplay summons. :P

True... I'm not sure at all what to make of the fact that Siren showed up on a TV in-game.

It's not just Siren. All the footage of the "organic" summons from the old trailer.... are TV footage within Cocoon's cities. :)

Pretty good possibility that they started off intending to use them in-game and never progressed beyond the prerendered stuff for early trailers. It'd be cool if there were some kind of shoukanjuu-fighting arena minigame that everyone watches on TV, though, I guess?

Hmmm.

Who's left?

Either it'll be something totally new al a Wagner Race Car or an oldy goldy. Only element left is water/lightning...Lets start bets!!!

Odin's moveset seems to be lightning elemental, actually. I don't know about Bahamut as far as elements are concerned... could be Dark-element, could be genuinely non-elemental. Also there could theoretically still be earth and air!

If it's anything like FFX it's five elements and non-elemental, in which case it'd be water that remains to be filled in. But who's to say?

She better be darkness(or if Fang is dark she can be wind/earth) to balance it out.

Also, hell yes Alexander!

Would be awesome to see little Vanille bust out Diablos or something...He has always been my favorite summon ever since FFVIII lol

Its strange, usually I would be avoiding spoilers for a game like this like the fucking plague. Oddly it hasn't been an issue so far, though I'm sure I'll avoid any specific story related information all the same.

It is because deep down, you know where the story is headed.

Or it just seems so lame he doesn't care. (like me)

I am in both camps and have been there since i started playing the series.

The only one that has surprised me so far was 12, but that is only because Matsuno had a hand and so i was expecting great things.

Suffice it to say, i was mildly disappointed.

I kinda hope that Vanille gets a new summon like Sazh, otherwise the 5:1 ratio of old to new looks odd.
I just realized that Sazh's summon is the only new one.

As long as Vanille doesn't get something weird like a squirrel helicopter, it better be a new one. :lol

Basically :lol
=/

But by the same token, I won't so much as LOOK at another screen of BBS. Double standard!!

Well Watenabe's talentless drivel aside(No will not let go of this until he atones for 12), i can actually see BBS doing all sorts of crazy unexpected things.

If I had to guess, I would say that similar to how Sazh's summon is a new original summon which "replaces" Ifrit's role, Vanilla's summon should be a new original summon which "replaces" Leviathan's role.

Unless 7th's theory proves to be true.

If Hope gets Alexander, shouldn't Vanille get a dark-themed summon? :/

One would hope so.

If she is given a "new" summon, I can only imagine it'll be a replacement for either dark or, like duck said, Levi.

Hmmm.

Maybe Atomos!!!

Im sure Vanilla - Carbuncle it was one of the CGI we saw and Carbuncle turn into a CD :lol

Hmm, yes. But only if we assume that:

Odin - Lightning elemental
Shiva - Ice elemental
Brynhildr - Fire elemental
Bahamut - Non-Elemental
Alexander - Holy

However, I'm thinking about how Bahamut looks and the color scheme he has, which is black/purple. Do we really know Bahamut's affinity? My point is, Odin, who is traditionally non-elemental, seems to have been changed to lightning elemental this time around; so couldn't that mean that Bahamut has changed as well?

If my theory proves correct, Bahamut has a darkness affinity this time around and the final one is non-elemental. Vanille's name might suggest it, too, since Lightning has Odin and Snow has Shiva. Vanille's could be a "vanilla summon", as in an/a "as is/neutral" one.

The new list would be:

Odin - Lightning elemental
Shiva - Ice elemental
Brynhildr - Fire elemental
Bahamut - Darkness
Alexander - Holy
???? - Non-Elemental

But I'm probably just getting carried away conspiring. :lol

Edit: The final one could also be water, as duckroll? suggested. But only if it's about balancing out rather than "fitting summon for char x".

Carbuncle is far too organic to be a transforming summon.

Plus l'Cie summons come from tatoos and not CDs. :\

Looking at that awesome artwork of Carbuncle, if they do a CE for this game, it better come with an artbook. I would love to see all the different versions of Lightning they went through.

Maybe he'll turn into a back pack or something, he's too adorable!

Though technically, his "power" (reflect) would have to be augmented in some way...

Hmmm.

That and the tattoo bit.

He can be a cute bag for Vanille.

Elements in FFXIII are Lightning, Ice, Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, Light and Darkness.

Sword Familiar said:
Your point being?

That I don't think they're going to go with a non-elemental summon and Bahamut has to be either Earth or Wind.

I don't think Vanille's summon will be just Leviathan's replacement, though; with how much they're making us wait for its reveal I kinda expect it to be something pretty surprising.

Sword Familiar said:
Hm. And why can't Bahamut be Darkness then?

Would be interesting, considering his design uses such dark, heavy colors, it is possible. Though frankly I prefer he be shoehorned into Wind or some such thing as 7Th said. Given that they didn't use Ifrit...who knows.

Next week: CHOCOBO BLOW-OUT IN FAMITSU!

If I owned a magazine with a Chocobo special I would spend millions so that for just that one issue, when you opened the double page spread with it on, Chocobo music started playing.

I think "I called it" on Alexander. Or maybe it was someone else and I'm just taking credit for it. My memory is not what it was. Anyway wooo for Alexander! One of my favourite summons. My bet is that it transforms into a train.

Now we just need a Leviathan summon with jetski driving mode.

Well, Brynhildr being there doesn't really rule out Ifrit. For all we know there might be more summons per element. Maybe one for each enemy that can use them as well?
