Seriously, having tough optional boss fights with material rewards available all the way through an FF game is one of the best things ever added to the series - way, way better than just sticking one or two of them at the end and giving you rewards that are largely symbolic at that point. Always something fun and challenging to do when you want to take a break, capable of being very rewarding if you do them early on. In theory, anyway; it bugged me in FFXII when I'd go beat some ultratough Mark that had JUST become available and then have the guy who gave it to me thank me and hand over 100 gil and ten potions instead of, say, 2,000 gil and a weapon one grade higher than the other ones available at that point in the game.

Not only that but some of those sidequest/mission/optional boss fights usually are more difficult than the actual bosses :lol

Isn't that the point? At least when it comes to clan marks.

it bugged me in FFXII when I'd go beat some ultratough Mark that had JUST become available and then have the guy who gave it to me thank me and hand over 100 gil and ten potions instead of, say, 2,000 gil and a weapon one grade higher than the other ones available at that point in the game.
That only happens once, with Behemoth King, but that mark also unlocks the possibility of getting 500.000 gil at a place, so...

Besides, hunts in FFXII don't reward you only once. The updates you get in the clan's shop for them are worthy just by themselves, as it gets strong spells and accessories, especially the overpowerfull nihopalahoa. Not only that, the hunts also gave you an excuse to explore new places most of that, which is also something worth by itself.

I loved how rewarding they were for all that. Hope that in FFXIII it's the same.

Maybe some future DLC...oh shit. Don't read this SE!

Depending on how big or advanced they are, that's one of the rare things I would be willing to pay DLC for. But I thought they said everything was included in the original game. Or was that story only?

And holy crap at this scan I saw. Some HUGE looking dinosaur and you can the character like sort of smidge. Epic battles incoming!

Edit: Adamantaimai is the name.

If the "hunts" are well made and rewarding enough, this could be fun. Personally, I didn't like the FFXII hunts, though, but that was probably because I didn't enjoy the battle system in general and having to find the perveyor before you could even start looking for the monster was a pretty tedious ordeal imo. It had been much better if you could just go directly from the hunt board to the monsters and then get back to the board to receive your reward.

The only problem with the one in XII IMO.

Yeah, that was a hassle. This system sounds like it's similar, but eliminates visiting the board - you just stumble across hidden symbols that unlock the quests?

Optional super tough monsters ala Hitoshura? Yes please!!!

Do not confuse tough and cheap. Giving a boss an instant kill move that can only dodged by retarded means is not tough it's cheap. I assume you mean DDS boss where you have to keep cielo asleep?

Back on topic it's really nice the hunts are back. It was probably one of the best aspect of FFXII. And for Vanille well I guess we won't know her summon for plot reason. Even on the official site it's written that she is hiding a dark resolve.

Hitoshura, much like Ruby Weapon and the like are a strange mix of tough and cheap.

I saw the scans. Wow. Missions = hunts. Confirmed. Pulse = FFXII. Confrimed. Drooling commencing. Confirmed.

So we can confirm this game is taking stuff from last gen FFs and(hopefully) improving on it?

X: Sphere Grid
X-2: Battle System, Job System
XI: ????
XII: Profit(Marks/Hunts, AI Control)

Summons are a mix of X(actually useful) and XII(time limit).

Well the best part of X-2 was the visual differences between the jobs, but other than that you are correct. Not to mention full control...

There is one other thing that you are missing on that list, but it is doomed to send this thread OT

VII: Dramatic death scene
IX: Charming characterization
X: Sphere Grid
X-2: Battle System, Job System
XI: ????
XII: Profit(Marks/Hunts, AI Control)

Summons are a mix of X(actually useful) and XII(time limit).

Fixed!

Still hoping Overclock is in there as a more tactical (and user-executed rather than automatic) Trance!

Also, remember weapon upgrade system via items (VIII) and talented composer (XII)

She looks to be the dumbest of them all imo. Quite literary. Maybe it's just because she reminds me of this girl I knew. Boy was she DUMB.
Yeah. All of the characters seem to be pretty one-dimensional. Granted, I know next to nothing about this game - so I'll reserve my final judgment. As I implied in my previous statement, the more I know about the characters - the less I like them. I'm positive this will be the case with Dia Vanille.

I guess Jihl will be a badass though. I hope so, anyway. I don't really mind that silver-haired dude, either.

The DLC they mentioned would probably fit in with XI's expansion packs, though not nearly on the same scale (at least I'm assuming not on the same scale, but a GTA IV sized DLC expansion might be interesting to see).

Those two are the least dumb IMO

You could make a case for Vanille since she's the biggest mystery.

But Snow is a total jackass. I'm hoping they subvert his happy-go-shonen personality, but right now he is my least favorite.

I really hope there is some sort of Limit break system in the game also, it seems really odd to remove it because they always add a lot of characterization to each character in battle, i know there's a bigger concentration on Summons this time but i still hope for it

Well we know summons(which they said in an interview would supposedly take the place of Limit Breaks) won't be the only thing to use TP, but I don't know what, other than Scan, will be included.

I'm sorry, dumb junior member here. Looking through the topic and can't find the latest scans you peoples are talking about. HALP!

EDIT: OMG please don't ban I'll find them myself!!!

I don't recall there being any "supposedly" about it. What I recall is that Toriyama was asked point blank if Limits were in FFXIII, and he said no, because the summon Driving Mode/Gestalt attacks are powerful enough that adding limits on top them would throw off the balance.

Scans are banned here, can't post them, can't ask for a link to them.

Gotta find them yourself.

Being a junior isn't an excuse for duckroll, erase your entire post lol

I hope he ends up very emotional for some reason
