Final Fantasy XIII on Steam October 9th, $16; full trilogy by Spring 2015

Not really. I have a PC capable enough and I'd still prefer actual ports. The HD collections for KH and FFX put emulation to shame.

You're not alone. I always prefer official ways to play my games. I'll use PCSX2 or Dolphin because of the benefits, but I'd rather play a remaster done by the developers.

I dunno, JRPG's are traditionally console based games, It won't feel right playing this on PC at all, especially on a small monitor.
Get a bigger monitor. I've got a 27". Doesn't sound like a lot compared to TV's, but its massive. Basically like having a 70" TV or something in front of me in terms of how big it is in my vision.

What's funny about this picture is that neither of these guys have a job anymore :lol
Shit, I didn't even think about that. haha

Yeah you can position it just right. Heck, their stake in the industry is probably welcoming PC more and more.

You can get an HDMI cord and use your HDTV.

I'm surprised it's so cheap. I thought at least $20. Well if thats the case, I wont even be bothering with a sale. I'm going to go right in. My computer should be able to handle this game and I'm actually really excited to see XIII running on PC and hopefully beefed up. I hope the PC port is good.

Good job Square.

I can take LR off my PS3 to buy list, thank the Lord, PS3 version is an ugly, poorly running piece of crap.

This is me. I own XIII-2 and I think I am going to skip it on PS3 in favor of the steam version. Spring 2015 is not that far away.

Ironically enough I just realized the current price for the game (preorder) is the same price I paid for my ps3 ver back in Black Friday 2011 for a new copy. Tempted to buy it again now but I will wait for a sale or when the complete trilogy comes out.

I rented the game on Xbox 360 at its release and I stopped playing when I saw Vanille and her horrible walk cycle.
Ok, that's not what I hated about the game that made me stop playing after 1 hour

I'll give the game a fair chance this time. I wanted to buy the game for console since it's 15 bucks in store but on PC if it's 60fps and 1080p I'll wait.

Yeah all I'm missing is LR. I wouldn't mind a PC port. Thing is.. nothing grabbed me to play XIII-2 or LR on console. Having them on PC might benefit the series entirely.

Well, glad they kept the price low. I went ahead and bought it, had hoped they'd launch the entire trilogy together, though.

Now the real question: will XIII-2 and LR come with all the DLC? If that's the case (and they're priced similarly to XIII), that's a pretty good deal, especially for XIII-2.

Yeah, same here. Even though it's possible to change the bindings, I think I'm going to just go with my wireless 360 pad.

I'm probably the only one to notice this, but they misspelled "Backspace" on the key.

I'm so fucking weak. Pre-ordered 2 games recently (this and Binding of isaac) despite speaking out against pre-orders before. Forgive me GAF.

I actually really enjoyed FFXIII, it's the only FF game I bothered trying to get ultima weapons in once I beat it. So definitely pumped for this (mostly XIII-2).

I don't think anyone will ever fault you for preordering either one. FFXIII has been out for over four years, and everyone knows Isaac Rebirth is gonna be awesome. :D

Alright. Selling the PS3 collection of the trilogy was $20 at Gamestop. Got Steam credit for this.

Despite the cringe-worthy plot, and long hallways for most of the first game, it's still kinda' fun. I'm looking forward to diving into this again with a better machine.

I find it hilarious on the community discussions on steam there's like 10 topics saying "DONT BUY IT RETHINK YOUR PURCHASE PLZ!!"

I looked at these threads.Funny they aren't actually hate threads but more about being cautious to see if the port is any good.

Does anyone else think it's hilarious and/or infuriating that SE is charging the same for this as they do their iOS games, most of which are ports of decades old games?

Edit: For reference purposes:

FFIV, V, VI: $16
FFT: $13
DQ8: $20

And so on and so forth

Great to see not only FF XIII coming to Steam but the full trilogy as well.

It seems that these games are not for everyone and this is no surprise, there is also some people who loved the game, others who really disliked and need to voice their opinion regarding the games. Either way, by coming to Steam I know that many GAFfers that never played the console version or simply didn't have one will soon have the chance to play them all or just one of them and have great fun or not since tastes are very different.

What matters in the end is that, more people will have the chance that in the past only the console users could and that can never be seen as something negative. Good or bad I'm sure many will play this game for the very first time on PC and I'm sure they will also voice their opinions, for good or bad. In the end, I just hope it's going to be a good port and I hope you all can have fun. ;)

The thing is people know what they are getting themselves into. They're not buying it because they don't know, they are buying it because they want more SE games on Steam.

They probably required the same amount of work to port, so they would theoretically cost the same.
