is that pretty much asked for a computer?

i dont know how far fetched these requirements are compared to a computer from 4 years ago.

Not far fetched at all... the 400 series GPU is roughly 4 years old now by itself.

WTF. How much did you spent on this?
Are you Toriyama?

I lost count, because of stuff I spent on unofficial stuff such as polymer clay to sculpt figures of her, stuff like that. I picked up digital art kinda because of her too. But I think everything I've spent on her is around $4000...? I got scalped really hard for some items because I was late in starting to collect, only around mid 2013.

It's a common question.

Ohaiyo Gouzaimasu Toriyama-sama!

;p

Eh? Chigaimasu. Nihon ima wa asa ja arimasen... kawarini yoru desu. Konbanwa!

Regarding the discussion going on about difficulty, I advice on avoiding playing the game on easy mode as well, it really makes the game more flat than it already is.

I don't think the FF13 series is as hated as people think. Look at how many people are planning to buy the game in this thread as a "goof" or as if it's their duty to get FF15 on PC (which is going to happen either way).

I believe the gameplay or battle system is what people have the least problems with in LR(and the music)

The gameplay and battle system are awesome (though I don't like the costume change aspect at all), but yeah, the story is like fan fiction. I enjoyed 13 and 13-2's story, but LR's isn't motivating me to finish that one.

Are you me
Well, we both really like Tales games and My Little Pony. So I think that's so amazing. I think that's an amazing wonderful thing to have in common with someone. I always wanted to meet other My Little Pony fans who like Tales.

I'm so happy that having Tales on Steam makes other people excited, too.

I have absolutely no doubt that the community will provide an undub for those who want it at some point. The question is, how good will it be, specifically with lipsync etc. I suppose it depends on many things we don't know about yet.

Personally I don't care, English dub all the way. Even if Vanille is unbearable.

The Japanese dub for this game isn't even that good, sans Lightning and Vanille. While the game isn't a XII in localization terms, it is by far one of the best when it comes to dubbing. Fang and Sazh in Japanese are shudder inducing.

I'm always amazed when people say the battle system is good... It mostly plays itself aside from you switching paradigms (which is painful in 13 since you have to watch as the camera pans to each character while they do a pose before you can do anything else, but the enemy can still attack you).

13-2 improves combat by removing the overdrawn paradigm shift poses so at least you aren't punished by shifting to a stance that is useful more than once or twice in a battle.

Auto Battle is far from being efficient, when you take into account attack animations and stats, you are better off manually picking the abilities yourself. Besides why would you complain about the passivity of a battle system but at the same time willingly stay in it when you have the option not to. Auto Battle is the default command because they want to hold your hand in the beginning I guess, I switched it to manual immediately because that way it was much more engaging and it allowed you to optimize damage done, have more control over your ATB bar spending and by consequence shorten the length of battles.

So no, there is more to it than changing paradigms, unless you willingly commit yourself to that handicap for whatever reason.

Sorry, but how did you get that tag?
I think someone told me it was based on a post I made where I said it seemed like to me that some of the... um.. more sexual jokes in some Japanese video games were a cultural difference.

Because it seems like lots of cartoons for boys and girls in Japan have sex jokes in them. I like a lot of shows that were made for little girls like My Little Pony and Ojamajo Doremi.

And it was a common joke that Oyajide is kind of, well, "ecchi" n' stuff.

I think that's where people told me I got my tag from. Maybe I shouldn't have made generalizations about Japanese culture like that. I mean, anime and Japanese culture aren't the same thing. But I don't know many characters in American cartoons for kids that are like Oyajide.

Nothing stands close to English Caius.
But having an option would have been super nice.

Oh, I agree, definitely. It's just more money for SE. Easy money, so why not? Just saying it's not the usual case with Japanese gaming/anime. XIII has a good dubbing.

A user on Steam pointed out that this might not be a port.

"Let's not forget, when we developed the Final Fantasy 13 series, all three titles, at the early stages of development we were working on PC," Kitase told Eurogamer. "Then we had to port it to the consoles. As far as the technology is concerned, it would have been possible for us to make a PC version, but we decided against it for two reasons: We looked at the market situation and we didn't think it would be a good idea, and also it would have involved lots of complex issues like security. So we decided not to do it this time around."

This means that Square has decided that the market situation is good on PC now.

Uh, the 360 version was mostly just gimped as far as resolution goes, which is a non-issue on PC. The assets were the same and we already know the game is 30GB, so clearly they're not using the 576p pre-rendered scenes.

.

All the mouth movements of the game from the prerendered cutscenes to the real time gameplay is based on english. Good luck with modding all that out

This doesn't mean unfortunately there existed a finalized version of Windows-based code.

So buying this even though I consider FFXIII and XIII-2 a low point for the series. If it encourages other Japanese/RPG/AAA developers to release titles on PC, great. Despite the criticism of this trilogy, if they're available sub $20, they are no brainers.

In all honesty, XIII isn't a terrible game. The battle system is superb. The story and pacing are horrible though.

XIII-2 is a trainwreck of a story but excellent gameplay, so... I accepted I had no idea what was going on and just enjoyed the battle system.

Never tried LR.

Well, it is kind of true that the PC market is better.

When Final Fantasy was released I've heard that the PC gaming market wasn't doing very well. But now that Steam has millions of people and is growing all the time, now is the best time ever to support the PC.

That must be why so many Japanese developers are supporting the PC. I hope things keep getting better and better.

With Tales of Vesperia being my favorite Tales game, the thought of it coming out on Steam, combined with that I use my 360 as a decorative piece on what not to buy, makes me extremely happy.

Not just Tales or FF though, I'd love even more console jrpgs to come out on Steam. Resonance of Fate, Star Ocean, just give em to me.

I hope this encourages people to try Lightning Returns. I really enjoyed it and was extremely satisfied with its ending, unlike XIII and XIII-2's.

In 2009, Steam had 25 million active monthly users. Currently, Steam has around 85-100 million active monthly users.

Insane.

Keep in mind that total accounts will be significantly higher, but people these are users who own a game and log in every month.

Yeah, every single game that's developed starts on the PC first. doesn't mean it's optimized for it, though. I wouldn't put too much weight into that comment.

More than likely, they'll probably use the 360 code (since that's direct X and thus much easier to port than the PS3 version) and then plug in the CG from the PS3 version.

AFAIK, the only things that the 360 version suffered from was a lower resolution, occasional framerate issues, and compressed CG videos. The first two issues are easily fixed by bringing the game to PC, and the third issue just requires that they use the PS3 videos. Done.

IIRC the timelimit isnt really an issue once you learn how it works and then you can kinda "cheat" it.
True, however for me just having a timer counting down is enough to rush through the game. I want to do things at my own pace at my own regard. I don't want to feel pushed due to some idiotic time limit that was implemented because the story couldn't provide the sense of urgency alone.

Time limits in games was the reason why I never played Dead Rising 1, 2 heck I've never played Majoras Mask as well. Dead Rising 3 not having a real time limit was amazing for me.

Not just Tales or FF though./QUOTE]
I'm a much bigger fan of Tales than Final Fantasy. I'm actually not that big of a Final Fantasy fan. Though I do like older Final Fantasy games, and Final Fantasy XIV and Bravely Default.

I'm just being excited because I think this is wonderful than more Japanese RPGs from the PlayStation 3 are coming to Steam. And I want to be nice and respectful to Final Fantasy XIII fans.

Tales is my most favourite RPG series of all time. And my second favourite is Pokemon. I'm a really big fan of Wolf Team. So having Star Ocean and Resonance of Fate would make me really really excited, too.
I'd also really like to see the Disgaea games, too.
