While waiting, you guys can play these games next month:

1. Dragon Quest VII - 3DS
2. Ace Attorney 6 - 3DS
3. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse - 3DS
4. Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness - PS4/Vita
5. Steins;Gate 0 - PS4/Vita (supposedly)
6. Root Letter - PS4/Vita (supposedly)
7. Trails of Cold Steel II - PS3/Vita (supposedly)
8. PacMan CE 2 - PSN/XBL

They really think PS4/XBO dont have Access to the internet ? Okay...well a couple more months wont make a difference with this game at this point.

If true, that's a very noble thing. That's why I'm not sure I buy it.

Like I said, they're throwing the game out to a minefield of major releases and jeopardizing launch sales out of respect for people who don't have internet? Either they were planning a massive 20+ GB patch, or this isn't the real reason, or Squeenix really has no idea what they're doing.

Cold Steel 2 will be the better game anyway

god I hope they can get it out in September or at least October

That makes a lot of sense, thanks. I can't imagine they could've delayed it to an earlier date, as all the disc pressing factories are probably booked out with all the other big holiday games.

All the fuss over delays always seems silly to me. It's two months, unless you've got some really pressing schedule, who cares? Personally I'll just play the multitude of other games that are coming out or are already in my backlog instead. They just need to make sure FFXV is actually good.

Well, Square Enix's November is barren whereas I'm pretty sure a month's delay will kill World of Final Fantasy (October 25, 2016).

I had a schedule of what to play when and this messes with GR2. I might just have to hope that also gets delayed or I'll have to make a tough decision about which one slips into 2017.

Thought it would easily be GR2 first, but I pre-ordered FFXV before our currency went to shit...

Shit what day is S;G 0 again? I need to work on my OT. Forgot it was coming out.

For me, right now, even a potential re-delay that would push FF15 back in 2017 doesn't sound like a bad idea altogether....
Since the game went gold, it's gonna be released sometime soon, be it this year or the next.... Even a 2017 release-window is still considered as "due soon" if you take into account the fact that FF15 has been in production since 2006 (a dev cycle of 10 years)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Final_Fantasy_XV

But 2018 is ruled out altogether because that is too far back and it wouldn't justify the current state of the game.

I'm totally okay with this, even if I'm not totally convinced by the reason behind the delay. More time for me to fully enjoy P5.

Ehh most of the major releases are done by that point though with like Watch Dogs 2 2 weeks before, Pokemon is a week before but thats on another platform entirely.

October is also packed:

1. Exist Archive - Tri-Ace, Valkyrie Profile team(?) - PS4/Vita
2. The Last Guardian
3. Dragon Quest Builders
4. World of Final Fantasy
5. Rez Infinite
6. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

Re. the day one patch, I have no reason to doubt anything Tabata has said about the delay, but I also think that there is a bit more to the game's unpolished state that they are keeping to themselves. Regardless, I don't mind the delay if it means the game gets to come out in a better state.

You don't have to tell me :p

There's also a number of more niche Vita games coming out in Sept/Oct as well. It's madness
EU date for 7th Dragon could be October as well D:

I'm a bit like you. I pretty much had my "schedule" of games lined up for the rest of the year. Just have to do some minor tweaking now is all.

Can't deny Sept is an infinitely better release date for them, though. They're the only talk of the town at that point, nothing really fights for attention.

All I'm saying is release schedules are a thing, especially for games where the launch sales are incredibly important. The reasoning is flimsy for the risk they're now taking, IMO.

EDIT: to be clear, I think it's way more unpolished than they're willing to admit, and the unpatched version would've been a mess. The whole "respect the offline gamers" sounds noble and all but come on, there's no chance they'd risk the launch sales the way they are doing so now just for them.

I live in a share house with 11 other people. We get 1TB of internet per month. I can't afford to download a massive game patch that would put a serious dent in our monthly internet allowance. I appreciate them putting this massive patch onto the disc.

Thats not packed at all when compared to September or November

Call me crazy but the excuse of not wanting to release the game and then the day one patch sounds bad, really bad. Like the game is not fucking working we need help bad.

Well the game has a Chapter 0 that has never been shown before so this should be all new stuff.

There's really no need to show that since it's a more story focused
with the unwinnable battle against Marilith.

SE not showing much story is fine and refreshing, but you still need to show some variety in areas when you show off a game.
