Final Fantasy XV - Omen Trailer

No, I mean she mostly isn't the focus in the game. I know we are trying to get to her, but in the mean time all the game focuses on are Noct and his companions.

Luna has been so out of focus (in the game itself) that I didn't really felt anything when
she died
at the end of this Omen.

Exactly. I'm actually quite surprised people don't get this.

And by the way, that's a quite curious slip right there. :p
 
I liked it and liked how it seemed to emphasize the idea that
things will go poorly if Noctis goes this alone but with his friends things may turn out better. Curious though if any of this will come up in the game at all as well as whether that weird black dog that was leading him astray will actually be a thing or not.

Also wondered who was patting that dogs head as we never actually saw them.

Also, was Regis talking to whoever he was through the Crystal?

It's got so many subtle things that are extremely disconcerting for people who have been following information about the game - the overarching feeling of loneliness portrayed by Noctis travelling alone without the support of his retinue, the chair in Luna's room being overturned, the Regalia being totaled, when you realize that thing in the desert is a boat and the desert is what remains of Altissia, Magitek soldiers using the subway and smartphones and reading a paper like normal people, the Escher-esque construction of the station, Pryna affecting a demonic form and the reversal showing things may not have been as they seemed all along.

It stands in such stark contrast to what the game is all about, yet is given the creative freedom to do what it does when framed as a premonition.

I'm right with you. The subtlety and symbolism in this trailer is remarkable, perhaps in part precisely because it is a game trailer and you don't typically see this sort of artful approach to marketing. As a purely story trailer, I think this is about as successful as you can get and I don't say that lightly. Very well done.

More along the lines of
we don't know that that "seeing the light" ability is really supposed to be. Not only does he not know his dad is dead but she didn't know about Gladio's dad either.

My guess for this is that,
unless the crystal itself has a mind (and a more malevolent one than we probably thought) Regis is probably speaking to an Astral here. The cover of the book on Astrals suggests that they gifted the crystal to humanity, as Bahamut is depicted presenting a crystal. Given that we've seen Ifrit posing as a very obvious villain in Chapter 0, I wouldn't be shocked if Regis was speaking to Ifrit.

Edit: Ehhh spoiler tagging just in case even though everything I'm discussing is either conjecture or has been featured directly in promotional material.
 
After thinking about it, I think this trailer made Noctis click for me, and made me understand why he's the main character as opposed to other characters in the game. From what I understand, he's a spoiled brat who was raised knowing he'd be "the chosen one," he didn't take it seriously (how could he, given his upbringing?), and now it's way more than he signed up for. I think that arc is going to be really relatable to a lot of millennials and adolescents if they pull it off right, given the archetypical complaint about our generation is "spoiled and entitled, was told the world is theirs in their youth, now growing up to realize it wasn't true." If they parallel it right, his development could end up being a really powerful redemption story. Obviously take this interpretation with a grain of salt, I haven't been following FFXV as much as some of the others in this thread, so I might be missing something.
 
If the malevolent voice truly is Chaos, then it would be super cool if XV was a reimagining of the first Final Fantasy.

Or it turns out to be a prequel to it and Noctis gets corrupted and becomes Garland haha.

Anyway, I think we knew what "seeing the light" meant in Versus... it was literally a ray of light, no? Unless I'm seriously misremembering things we saw it and Stella talked about it during that party scene. I've sort of assumed the ability has stayed the same, but maybe not, we haven't seen anything like it in XV. And maybe there was more to it anyway. But if not and if it's the same I'd say you wouldn't be able to know exactly who died with that ability
 
Evil Noctis? My predictions are coming true for each trailer.

Also damn!! Noctis pulling a Senran Kagura and finally looking good! Still not Gladio material but good enough eh 😎
 
It'd be cool if the crystal was evil. It'd be like Type-0 but a step further, which Type-0 would have benefited from. Also this trailer may hint at some parallels between Niflheim and Bravely Default's Duchy of Eternia. Looking at Regis' shady business with the crystal/whatever that scary voice is it makes you wonder if Niflheim's intentions aren't entirely nefarious.

My vote goes towards Ardyn being the ambiguous one, merely using the empire as a pawn to get to his goals. Whether or not his goals are ultimately what you would call evil will be known.

It seems like XV would have a lot of callbacks to the older FFs if we do have Ardyn take over the Empire like Kekfa did. Reminds me of how a DQ game would use the same story beats but twist or change them when necessary.
 
I'll be honest with you guys I was really not feeling any FFXV hype after the last couple of demos and that bad graphics presentation. But they seem to have fixed a lot of that.

But hot DAMN that may be the slickest game trailer I've ever seen.

Consider me re-hyped. Just pre-ordered the $90 deluxe edition.

i'm hoping its just because they are just trying to not spoil things. i haven't looked at any of the recent previews though
 
First ffxv promotion that actually made me want to buy it. Well made trailer, showed hints of possible story but have no idea what the game itself features.

That sounds very plausible. I still think Ardyn is a red herring though.
 
I can see how this is from the same company that help with Kingsglaive. At least frantic scene cuts works better in concept trailer than in full movie. And Noctis looking dope.
