The only "feeling" that trailer evoked was with 3PO. Problem is, 3PO is old saga and also I ask myself... is 3PO friends with any of those new characters? I dont think so.
Nerdrotic thinks 3-PO maybe actually thinking he is looking at Luke, Lei, and Han as he makes that statement. Either 3-P0 is having some kind of delusion while he is killing himself, or does he see Force Ghosts behind the cast?

Interesting thought, but would ghosts show up on electronic equipment (droids)?

It was a mistake to make a trilogy that picked up in the era that the original trilogy actors were still in it. They should have jumped at least 70-100 years into the future. That way the storytellers wouldnt have been constrained by trying too hard to tie it into the Skywalkers and it would have left the EU stories up to possibly being legit. Lucas's drafts for the new movies were trashed and the new films lack the soul of their creator in all aspects. The Last Jedi could have been the end of the current movies and that would satisfy me at this point. Left it open ended like Final Fantasy 7. Then pick the next movie up decades or more later. As they continue in with the next movie, it's basically a stupid as hell mcguffin chase that leads to Palpatine being alive and then dying again. Rehashing ROTJ isnt my idea of a good ending for something that was over with in 1983.

Actually that trailer gave me a bit of hope.
JJ did some good things with TFA, it's just that BJ did his own shitty thing and killed the whole PT with that ego trip of his.
I hope JJ can salvage something out of that clusterfuck that was left behind by BJ.

Carefully optimistic.

JJ is a lot like Kojima in that he can cut together a good looking trailer at least.

Y’all can take that Kojima comparison and extrapolate whatever else you want from it too lol.

I have zero hope for this.

Yes Johnson did not make the movie people wanted, but the blame cannot be placed solely on him. There was never a plan with these movies, JJ decides to not do the second one, no one has any idea what to do next, they bring Johnson in and let him do whatever he wants, the keys to the kingdom so to speak, I can only imagine he was like a kid in a candy store. The whole thing was fucked from the start. How do you green-light a trilogy and not have a plan for it? I am surprised they didn't bring in Uwe Bol for Rise cause who gives a fuck really at this point.

Really underwhelming. Disappointed to see that annoying chub Rose again too. Trailer really doesn't do much but show who's in it. I'll still go see it, but it's going to be heavily influenced by modern Disney leftist politics I'm sure.
With Palps coming back they will probably make him more orange and give him a bad comb over. You know they can't resist doing the Palps=Trump.

I am just wondering how they will stick in the open borders immigrants are the best message in there.

Im not being a sexist, but thats what happens when you put the new saga, in the hands of a female with outspoken leftist agenda, anything goes, equality, free your ideas and all..

Whats the point?

We know Rey can kick Kyles ass, she did it twice already. Its not like with Vader where he beat Luke and chopped his hand off.

Clearly Palpatine is not going to win and take over the universe its the final movie of the trilogy.

Luke/Leia/Han are all dead so there isn't any big deaths to see.

Finn/Poe have no story arcs or any stakes.

We all know the movie. Palps is back, tries to recruit Rey, Rey says no, kicks Palps ass, while Poe/Finn/Lando destroy 1000 death stars. Reistence/Rebels win and Palps is "dead" again until they need to drag his corpse back for the next round of movies.

I guess they are hoping the big twist will blow everyones mind in regards to Rey's "parents". Instead its going to become probably a big of a joke as medacholorines.

I think this is going to be the Room of Troll 2.

Kylo should of face turned last movie while Rey went heel. At least there would be stakes in this movie if Rey can turn back to a Jedi and Kylo would be a little cool.

But nope gotta make Kylo another simp thristing after Rey, who friendzoned him a while ago.

does not look good tbh. Rey's makeup is weird and off or something, like her forehead is too shiny. the hairdo is kind of ugly. also she also seems like she is still confused about her place in all this, which is just really tired. she is just a stock standard Chosen One only with a "villain is your father" twist. LOL at the first part of this showing us her training sequence that TLJ denied. haha retcons away!

Kylo is just full on pout mode, looking as miserable as ever. i don't care for this whiny, miserable murderer. it is not a deep character. it is repetitive as fuck. at least Vader had to switch it up from situation to situation, person to person. he is always full on Pathetic Affluenza Creep. maybe he should have kept the mask on the whole time.

Rose looks bad character design wise. Finn and Poe are fantastic SW character trapped in the wrong trilogy. the Lost guy looks very generic. that shot of Rey in front of the animatronic Emperor looks so generic, just some bland person standing in a field of grey. it all screams TV Show. especially that Monday Night Football main theme remix by some guy who is not John Williams.

btw is John Williams even doing all the music in this? did he do all the music in the previous films? they are getting videogame soundtrack people to do the main movie music now.
Yo i can get behind Finn being fantastic character argument due to him being ex-stormtrooper backstory but Poe? To me he is poorsman han solo, i don't get what's so fantastic about him, but i'm curious about your reasoning

i meant from a purely superficial point of view. a rebel guy as a lead is a good idea and he has the look down. he's got the chin. he's got a decent name. TFA had him as a not too complicated, all around simple good guy you could root for. TLJ torpedoed all that of course.

Finn as stormtrooper was indeed good but entirely undercut by having our heroes continuously see him as a coward. this despite the very first thing he does is defy the FO. yet he is constantly called a coward, his experience as a stormtrooper reduced to janitor jokes. they make a big stink about the FO using child soliders, when his FIRST MISSION is when it is 23 yo. the minute you think at all about these characters it's obvious they didn't think this through.

I think beyond just making a movie I "didn't want", TLJ was just a bad movie regardless of expectations. Bad writing, plot holes, bad new characters, bad action scenes and a good third of the movie spent on some boring casino sidequest which was ultimately pointless.

But yeah, when it comes to it I wouldn't blame him for killing my interest in Star Wars. The people to blame are those in charge of the franchise, those that decided to start milking it with unnecessary spinoffs, teaming up with EA for the games, and who apparently decided that planning out the new trilogy was unnecessary and they'd just have different people make each entry and write the story as they go

Allegedly they are still shooting, the movie ain't ready yet. Doesn't inspire much hope does it? Also force ghosts were always a bad idea in my book. Always hated obiwan throwing in the towel against Vader just cause Luke was the star of the movie. The original trilogy ain't perfect either, but still miles better than Disney SW

Guinness wanted to do one movie and be out. Having Kenobi sacrifice himself was a pretty good idea in the long run. He was miserable to have to come back for Empire and Jedi from what I understand, which is strange because in one of the documentaries, he was a positive light the on the set of a New Hope who inspired everybody to keep going when things were going bad.

Always in my humble op, he could have been offed in a better way. How about an actual awesome light sabre fight between Vader and obi? After all they are well versed in the force and Vader comes out on top. More reason for Luke to hate him eh. Also no force ghosts pls, so these masterful dudes bite it but hey the cushy after life is calling lol

a Kenobi like figure could have easily fit into this trilogy. Obi Wan as wise old mentor was not just a role, it was the casting as well. this is how you make these classic pulp films, you bring in a few heavyweights to do the serious parts. Peter Cushing and Alec Guiness brought a gravity to the proceedings that can hardly be matched by the likes of Hux or Mark Hamill. don't get me wrong, Hamill is a fine actor, but he is no Alec Guiness (nor a Liam Neeson).

thing is they did not even need to lay it all on Luke. he did not have to be the Obi Wan of this. TLJ could have started with a time skip and done an entirely different story. but Rian wanted that dumb joke in there. easily they could have come up with some other Jedis, since Luke was at this for 30 years before it all went to shit. how long does it take to train as a Jedi? shouldn't there be dozens of them going off to start other schools and maybe other sects? cast an esteemed older actor to play the role. someone with theater chops so they can really ham it up. but alas we have to sit through Luke's phoned in comic con skit instead.

I don't think it would have been possible in 77. From what I understand the light sabers barely even worked

Actually think this trailer is fake.

Where is the SJW feminist WOMANZ? We only get 1 shot of Rose and no shots of any new characters that are non-binary, trans or WOMANZ.

Clearly this is some fan made trailer.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Still ends lamely with obi letting Vader win. In 77 film tech was way behind however I still think Lucas could have made so much more with that specific scene. Also consider the epic space battle which sorta is still relevant today, so many years later.
Starting to remember my annoyances with this film, storm troopers can't shoot for shit, and supposedly these guys and their empire rule over all 🙂

So the Rebels magically get a fleet again when all the had was the falcon at the end of TLJ and the entire fleet was destroyed in TFA huh.

I'm so fucking done with Star Wars.

At this point they might as well have the Ravager from Kotor that can endlessly make capital class ships.

From what I understand the lightsaber effects barely worked, you really couldn't swing them around wildly, thus every scene with a lightsaber is pretty restrained:

From Stack Exchange"

"One of the special effects in Star Wars movies is the lightsaber. The lightsaber was made by covering a rotating pole with movie screen material all around it so it would reflect its light source back. If the lightsaber moved out of a certain area it went from being a glowing light to just a rotating pole. The special effects team was originally going to use reflective tape, but as soon as the actors hit each other the sabers would break, so they used the rotating pole instead.
As the Star Wars saga went on, ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) got more efficient and used just a pole, and later did effects and screen shots to make the lightsabers glow. The lightsaber had a lot to do with advances in special effects technology more than anything else in the Star Wars movies. The sound was created by the humming noise in a projector, because that’s what Ben Burtt thought a lightsaber might sound like."

OK fair enough, still my main peeve is with ObiWan allowing Vader to win because Luke will now carry over. At least a Vader cut that Obi couldnt avoid, just to please me lol.

I also liked Rogue One, I guess mostly due to Vader being such a bad ass in the last few minutes. How Disney went from Rogue One to the shite JJ and J (mostly Ryan tbf TFA wasnt that bad) produced is beyond me...sigh

Rogue One is the best thing to come out of the Disney fiasco. To me just having a movie mostly about the spaceships battling and no kid coming to terms with the Force was a breath of fresh air.

My guess is they are going through 3POs memory looking for something and it may be a destructive process.

Either way, all this trailer did was remind me of my rage TLJ invoked.... but it did upgrade this one from 'fuck that' to 'maybe catch it on Disney+'

I think the crew does not want 3-PO to kill himself, he just decides to do it on his own. It seems like Poe is asking him why he is staring like that, but I think its a cut to avoid spoilers. He is asking 3-PO what he is actually doing to himself.

I wish Threepio remembered that Daddy Vader built him. He too is a Skywalker. ;_;
You think at some point R2 would let him know, weird that he never does.
Edit: I forgot even R2 might not know that, never mind.

I'll be done with Star Wars once this hits. I'll have spent my time with it and the writing is on the wall that they're taking the universe to places I dont care to follow.

Even from the brief trailer there is the seed of an explanation that they have recruited people (and their ships) from all over the Galaxy.
Trailer looks pretty good, I sort of enjoyed TLJ, although it really was pretty much a nothing of a movie to have as the center of a trilogy besides the throne scene.

Holy shit why is this 100 x better than anything we've seen in the ST?!

Sure this wasn't possible in 77 but the choreography and the way that this duel is filmed is so much better than the duel in TFA and whatever the fuck that throne room brawl was supposed to be in TLJ.

What the fuck are you doing Disney.

Looks like good fun. Many people forget that Star Wars is a lighthearted franchise aimed at families and kids. If you go into a Star Wars movie expecting to see very deep, though provoking and serious Sci-fi that requires brain cells (think Frank Herbet's Dune or Asimov's Foundation) you are bound to only be disappointed.
