Fire Emblem Coming To 3DS

Sorry. Yuka Tsujiyoko already retired. IIRC Paper Mario 2 was the last game she did the music for. She may have been assistant role of the other games but I really can not remember.

How did I miss this? That blows.

Maybe they can get the team from Sacred Stones then, they did a pretty good job.

I might have to buy a 3DS when this comes out.

Hopefully it's not as bad as the Fire Emblem for DS though. I couldn't even finish this game. More like PoR, Radiant Dawn, and the GBA games please.

Two of the main composers from that game Yoshito Hirano and Saki Kasuga don't work at Intelligent Systems anymore. They still do some work with the company though. I think Hirano last did Radiant Dawn and Kasuga last did the first DS game.

Do both units gain EXP? In one of the clips it seemed that only Chrome gained EXP. Maybe they show the supporting unit's EXP after?
We didn't see it exit to map so maybe after Chrome's level up there was EXP allocated. Also I wonder what the Green EXP bar was about...

Also, got to keep some things secret for Famitsu, Nintendo Dream etc to have exclusives on. Then again if only the lead unit gets EXP it could be just to discourage people from using this method.

So did I. Excellent investment in terms of Fire Emblem.

I bought a US Wii just for importing Fire Emblem (of course, the European release came a few months later, but I couldn't wait).

FE4 continues to be my favourite in the series. omg. It just did so much right. The maps were fantastic, large and pretty, the narrative was awesome, and the point system + battle system introduced was great. I love that game.
Want to know what's the best thing about the FE4 maps? Piece them all together, and you have the whole continent! No other FE did that.

WARNING: Really HUGE file.

I am excited, but I don't love the art style, and I hate heroine's mess of a design, so I doodled this.

She doesn't fit into the FE universe. So obviously.. it MUST be a disguise! >___> BELIEVE!

I am happy about the co-op attack activation though! It's kind of like the sibling criticals and stuff in Thracia? Look forward to awesome support convos.. I HOPE.

The first piece of FE13 fan art?

Hurray!

She will probably be a cleric or something. It's normal for them to wear-battle inappropriate clothes in order to stand behind your lines and get killed by ballista

:(

I never knew about this. Holy shit this is fucking awesome, you have made me love this game even more now.

Radiant Dawn is shit now? I don't think we can be friends.

Compared to PoR yes it's pretty bad. The first half of RD was terrible.

What is there to like better about Path of Radiance over Radiant Dawn besides like, really liking Tormod. I guess supports, but I just liked everything else about Radiant Dawn a lot more. Even though supports are like, one of the most satisfying things about Fire Emblem I enjoyed Radiant Dawn by leaps and bounds.

Well I guess it was nice not having to use Sothe.

Their response is always "no current plans", but that's the standard Nintendo response so it means squat.

The optimist in me wants to believe the game is being saved for a very late DS release, which will lead the way to FE 3DS.
Is the second DS game substantially better than the first one, or should I not care if we ever get it?

... Okay, that's probably unfair, but it is true that I really didn't like the DS one we got much, in comparison to the others released here... I got it, but didn't even finish it once before going back to the GBA games. I've played both of those over and over, and like the GC/Wii ones a lot too even if I haven't replayed them quite as often as the GBA ones, but still haven't bothered to play much more of the DS one. The graphics are bad, they made some poor design decisions, the story is bad (I know it's a NES game, but the newer ones have such good stories, I can't help but judge it negatively in comparison, to some degree...), etc...

So yeah, this one being a new game, unlike the DS titles, is great news. I really, really hope it comes out here!

Only 80, you don't replay the games?

Not well enough to warrant the release of 12.
Maybe Shadow Dragon sold worse than the previous ones, after word of mouth wasn't great?

Just get ready to import. Fire Emblem games are very easy to play with no Japanese knowledge. I got into the series around 1999 and we didn't even have translation patches.
If you don't care about the story or characters, maybe... but while that might be not so bad for the DS remakes, for a new one I'd want to know the story...

And Nephenee annihilates both. Nephenee in my games would never get hit, double every time, and then have criticals here and there. She was an unstoppable killing machine of hhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnngg!
Bah, Ilyana's better. But then again, mages and flying units are my favorites in FE, not swordfighters (apart from the main characters).

Just because Micaiah has shitty friends doesn't mean the entire package is awful.

I actually enjoyed almost dying with Micaiah and co. Really made them feel like the underdog! xD

Yes.. but most of them don't wear doilies on their head (my cousin says they look like panties attached to a string of panty liners). :l She is SO OUT OF PLACE.

Nod. I liked playing the new characters and seeing the old veterans like Nephenee and Ilyana again.

Shinon is probably the only FE character I happily let die.

Everybody else I restarted the map.

I let this smug motherfucker die without a second thought in PoR. His bitch ass deserved it too, thinks he's too good for my team of steamrolling badasses.

The character art reminds me of Suikoden Tierkreis and Castlevania: OoE (same artist IIRC, but this reminds me more of the former).

Uncommon maybe. I think it goes for $40 or so used in good condition. Can get it for about $30 but it would probably be disc only or something.

Used to be more expensive IIRC, a friend of mine was looking for it and used copies were all like $50+.

note this is PAL i am talking about...

on amazon UK a used copy starts at about 80 dollars... new it's 120 bucks it's insane i cannot justify paying that much!

Shinon is just too awesomely smug for you guys, my favourite FE9/10 character along with Ike and Ilyana.

Didn't really care for him in FE9 but he was one of my favorites in FE10. He's so cool in that cutscene when Rolf is too scared to shoot the arrow so he does it himself.

You should care. The second DS game fixes everything that was wrong with Shadow Dragon (save the graphics but that's a matter of opinion), including:

- The lack of character development. FE12 has HUNDREDS of base and support convos. They're unlocked the same way as in PoR, and every character feels like part of the story now.
- The bullshit requirements of the Gaiden maps. They're actually harder to miss now.

The game also adds several new features such as:

- Customizable "My Unit". The only time ever in the series where you can name and class a playable character.
- Casual Mode (You can let Units die and get them back on the next map)
- Five difficulty levels (Normal, Hard, Maniac, Lunatic and Lunatic Reverse). Lunatic and Lunatic Reverse are by far the hardest FE ever, and it consists of enemy units with ridiculously high stats. The only difference between the two Lunatic difficulties is that in Lunatic Reverse, every enemy unit has an FE9 Vantage skill. Imagine that.

So yeah, I'm still hoping NoA will localize this somehow. There's a fan translation in the works just in case, but... it's just not the same.

Oh my god, goddamn you NoA. Goddamn you to hell.

I had Ike kill Shinon in my first PoR playthrough but saved him in all the others. I would have left Gatrie to die too but I couldn't talk to Astrid without him.

They were pretty cool in RD though.

What does Vantage do?
For future reference you can use X or Y (or something) to see the in-game descriptor.

Vantage: User attack first. Its for the enemy phase. When an enemy attacks you they would normally get an attack in, with vantage you get first strike. Its activation depends on game you're playing. In FE4 its 100% if you're below half HP; otherwise 0%, FE5 and FE9 100%, FE10 speed%.

Billychu said:
Every enemy has that? Holy shit. That's not even fair.
Only (reverse) Lunatic' difficulty in the second DS game (which is you reward for beating Lunatic difficulty)

In Fire Emblem its like Advance Wars. In battle unit that initiates combat goes first, then the defending person gets a turn. So you attack enemy, enemy fights back. Of course if they're not in range they can't...

It's all about Caineghis here, FE9 cheaped out with usable Giffca instead but FE10 made things right.

I don't think there was one Laguz, royal or not, that I actually wanted to use.

Caineghis had a pretty sweet theme though.

Thracia 776 SSS rank is still the most difficult challenge in the FE series.

Grinding isn't an issue in games as long as there's a scoring system that penalizes it. For example, you can continue endlessly in most shoot em up games, but your score gets reset to 0.

The artwork looks kind of like Yusuke Kozaki's which explains why I thought of Speed Grapher and NMH after seeing the image in the OP.

What is this blasphemy? Shinon is awesome. He might be a smug basterd, but man he is a beast in Radiant Dawn. God tier easily. A lot of one hit kills.

There's only room for one bigot on my team, and that's Jill.
