Fire Emblem Coming To 3DS

This looks awesome!
Character art looks a bit more modern than PoR/RD, but not in an offensive way. Much better than Shadow Dragon at least. Animations look pretty good too.
Looks like we'll have another Sacred Stones map, so grinding might be an option, and it looks like there's some beast-like enemies again, or maybe humans wearing skulls and hides, interesting.

For a moment there, I was worried they messed with the stats because I only saw 5 stats in the level up screen, but I guess they'll only show the stats that increase.

Waiting for the localization will suck so bad :(

Drawn portraits, 3d models that look nice and are as well animated than the 2d sprites .... WHAT WORLD IS THIS ?

looks like we have co-op attacks or something.

Do want ! NOW xD

Looks awesome and the co-op play looks really nice! I like the art style of the 3D battles much more than the GCN/Wii games and the 2D sprites on the map are a very nice touch.

Now I just need a localisation announcement... (OH and FE3 DS as well, ARE YOU LISTENING NOA?!?!?!?)

2D vs. 3D battle animations aren't an issue for me - I always play with them off anyway (FE games go twice as fast that way) :p

Would love to see this come over eventually.

EDIT: The character designs in Fire Emblem games have always been mainstream animé shit, what the fuck are you guys talking about?

She would have been an awesome character had she not started as a paladin. *shakes head*

So this is also being developed by Intelligent Systems along side Paper Mario 3DS? As long as they can handle it.

Anyway, it looks a lot better than the DS efforts, not really sure what happened then.
It's quite pathetic really, all I want to know about this game is will it be localised in English? But I guess we will have to wait...

They're a 2 game dev team. I was fully expecting a game announcement from them (and I got it!)

Intelligent Systems? Check.
Fire Emblem? Check.
PAL version? Please.

If I didnt already have a 3DS, this would sell me on it.

Eh. I would go for Nephenee for attractiveness + country accent.

With that said, I felt that Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn had the best art for the series.

Great news.
Reminds me that I need to buy and play Radiant Dawn and Shadow Dragon.
I also hope they'll release all FE GBA games on 3DS VC (I know GBA VC isn't planned for now, but they aren't making a GBA emulator for ambassadors only).

Ah, the game I was waiting for to convince me to buy the 3DS. I said 'wow' Damn this looks so good.

Nice battle sequence animations. Good job Intelligence Systems. Take my money.

Fire Emblem predates Shining Force by 2 years. Or were you being sarcastic? :)
He was obviously being sarcastic because Tactics Ogre is the first tactics game and the grandfather of the tactics genre according to many reviewers and gamers.

Not so crazy about the art as the games have had better character art. It is good that they got rid of that awful ds battle art.
I just hope it comes first to Europe like last time. I just hope they are also making an Advance Wars too as you cannot have enough Intelligent System strategy games.

I'll be honest: the decision whether I will buy this or not (and a 3DS to boot) rests within the fact whether this game has support conversation system or not. A GOOD one unlike the abomination found in Radiant Dawn.

Yeah...Radiant Dawn's was really terrible. Loved the game, but what a huge step backwards with the conversation system.

I will buy it anyway, but yeah, that's a big, big part of the game (and of the replay value).

Too many characters, would have been a nightmare to do it justice. The game itself is already about the length of one and a half FE games and has enough characters for two.

Radiant Dawn's was awful.

I'll still get this game even if I don't like some aspects of it, but I hope the support conversation mechanics impoved.

The thing is, you ultimately didn't need to have that many characters to have conversations with. You could have kept it the same basic number Path of Radiance had and spread it out.

Stuff like

"You're doing well out there!"
"Yes, let's fight hard!"

as a conversation was just downright saddening.

They wanted it out early in Japan as it was a bumped up GCN game they never got around to announcing. The fact that it is so feature rich otherwise is frankly astonishing.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the FE games that have the deep support conversation systems, especially the ones on the SNES.

Oh wow. 2d sprites in movement mode, detailed 3D models for attack animations, and anime style pictures for dialog scenes? Very interesting mix. Will probably get this when I get a 3DS.

One of the screenshots I've seen seems to imply characters can team up to fight together... unless that was a plot section or something. Is that new to the series?

The trailer looks awesome.

My first impressions during the conference were that it didn't give the vibe of the earlier games but now is gone.

Please, be my PAL, Intelligent Systems.

Yeah, it kills me that we'll never get a full fan translation (or an official one) of Genealogy of the Holy War.

I still want an English localisation of the second DS game :(
I still hope NoA will change their minds, but maybe NoE will give it a shot and then we can import it at least.

I'm afraid it's true about the anime style of FE, it seems to have always matched the common anime style of the times. Just look at the art for all the FC/SFC titles, low detail and 80's anime hairstyles everywhere. But hey, at least they're staying current, be it at the cost of maybe becoming dated later on.

But there's really no reason to gripe if you don't much care for the main characters of a FE game, you know there are going to be like 30 other party members each with their own unique portrait, and odds are at least a few have to be pretty rad.

And I for one hope to see a complete overhaul of the whole support concept. It's one of the things that makes FE special, yet it's still built into a very esoteric, grindy system. There needs to at least be some sort of visual cue when two compatible characters are in contact, and if they want to be extra nice, give us a meter or counter we can actually see which indicates how close they are to unlocking a conversation.

So this is like those Shining Force games? Oh Nintendo with their copying shit!
You know, for being such a big Shining Force fan, I have no idea why I haven't gotten into Fire Emblem. I should probably start sometime.
perhaps with this game

Fuck yes you should. I can't begin to describe how happy I was when I started playing Path of Radiance. I hadn't had a true SF-esque fix in years and it was so, so sweet.

I thought Fire Emblem 12 had like, not actual support conversations but characters actually talking to each other more often than almost never was that not true?

Also I like her ridiculous hair : (
