Fire Emblem If to feature Base Building mode and head rubbing mode

But it's just a small part of the game? That's probably not mandatory, if Pokémonamie is any indication?
Does that make the game suddenly not worth playing? How does it become a bad game because of an optional feature?

And I not only direct this question at you, but everyone sharing the sentiment. I don't get it.
I dislike the direction they're moving into by incorporating these elements and appealing to a demographic that I want to actively avoid/nothing to do with. Not buying this game means I'm simply voting with my wallet to show that I'm not interested in this kind of stuff in my Fire Emblem.

As for the "it's optional" argument - it's absolutely taint by association that sours the rest of the game for me in this case.

It's like... you and your family kinda like the chef at this one restaurant and visit often because the food's good. But then the chef moves into some sort of mafia-owned brothel and staffs the kitchen there. Sure, it's still technically the same delicious food you've eaten before, and you can just totally ignore the sleazy types roaming around your table and the topless waitresses... but if you're really honest with yourself, it's just not the same.

Still very fully clothed and bad-ass.

Why the hell is there a belt pointing up between her cleavage?

She still has boob armor unlike Titania's uniboob. And to be fair to the series, I think Kita's always been the exception as well, her Pegasus knights are actually armored!

What's the point of adding this feature if there's exactly 0 chance to own any of these Amiibo?

I own all of them, so I'm happy ^_^

No seriously, just the other day I thought "man, I can't see them not using the FE amiibo in FE If", especially since we've seen them implemented in Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Good to see that thought confirmed.

In a way, that makes sense, and truth be told, I'm not exactly happy about it either - I just don't think that it should taint the whole game for you. Your comparison is a bit too harsh compared to what I think the changes amount to, but if you feel that strongly about it, I can't fault you for not wanting to play the game.

Such a shame Robin and Lucina didn't get updated art...Oh well it still looks great.

So wait, what does the Smash FE amiibo do for this game? Unlock their characters for use in the game?

Yes.

The character designs are much better than Awakenings, minus some seriously fanservice designs.

Armor design in general is much better (Paladins/Armor Knights look a lot better in this game).

Although, I do think characters like Lucina/Owain are incredible, and Kozaki's better at having them in dynamic stances than Kita (Kita's art was just way too static).

Until today, Camilla was the only real groaner (I think Charlotte's pretty silly as well).

They look about as armored as any of the other pegasus knights in the series.

Sigrun is definitely more armored then the rest, and thanks for reminding me how awful Pegasus knight armor in this series has always been. There's barely any armor at all.

Btw, could you please edit your images and put them in quotes so they don't take up the entire screen? Thanks.

Yeah, the Nohr armor designs are awesome. Look very menacing. Also happy to see very few pirate boots.

Other than the two breast monsters from Nohr, I'm loving all the other characters shown so far. Abs girl from Hoshido especially haha.

IS should stop beating around the bush and just go full dating sim at this point.

Nah, I like to have multiple optional features like this in t-rpg or rpg.
Look at Witcher 3, no one is making a drama by being able to bang every available girls or have a threesome.

Grow up people.

The analogy is obviously only half-serious and exaggerated for comedic effect, but the core of it is definitely true.

Bottom line is that I don't want to support this with my money or even tacitly acknowledge it by ignoring it.

I'd rather drop the series and play classic Fire Emblem games or other SRPG titles while drying my tears with the money I saved. :p

;_;

I love base building!

Hell I'd love if they basically fully ripped off Suiokden's concept of a place improving as you get more people fully and able to run around the place and do crazy stuff like food contest etc.

Also no problem with the art.

*shrugs* I don't find either of them more armored than usual.

Tanith isn't, you're right. Sigrun does seem to be more armored but I think it's because her armor matches her outfit so it might be an illusion on my part.. You're example of a Pegasus knight is actually the first Pegasus knight's armor that I actually like. She actually has hip plates.

BTW, please put all your images in quotes, so they don't take up the entire page.

I want to see them use the artist for the Fire Emblem card game. Specifically this artist. The armor is really stylized, but I really like it.

Technically, isn't that Caeda a Wyvern Knight? That art is from before New Mystery, so her promotion was Wyvern/Dragon, not Falcon Knight.

The Pegasus Knight design from the card game was this one, already posted above:

Here's Falcon Knight art from the same artist (for a FE4 card):

Technically, this game has a reasonably armoured pegasus knight as well (with pants?) - it just happens to be Tsubaki. Kind of infuriating that it took a male pegasus rider for Kozaki to give one of them anything more than a miniskirt - the impracticality of bare legs for mounted units aside, I'd actually have much less of a problem if both male and female units had the skirt. The same goes for the mysterious disappearing stockings of the female avatar...

I don't see anything to indicate anything other than a close platonic bond. There's more evidence for a romance between Ephraim and Eirika.

Golnei, I thought you'd be my supporter in the discussion of gay relationships in FE. What happened... ;_;

I'd love it if they were incorporated, but it's spectacularly unlikely. Nintendo's output is conservative even by the standards of Japanese media - I could see the 2024 mobile revision of Tomodachi Life including gay relationships, but for a series targeted as heavily towards the domestic market as Fire Emblem, acknowledging anything other than heterosexuality in text seems like something that'd take even longer; especially considering that the current success of the series could mean they have further incentive to play it as safe as humanly possible. I'd love to be wrong, but the series could conceivably continue with just the errant fragment of subtext and occasional queer-coded villain for the foreseeable future.

They lost their way IMO. All of the pandering and extraneous fluff is a devolution of what Fire Emblem used to be.

I didn't enjoy Awakening for this reason, and I probably won't enjoy this one for the same reason. I suppose those of us who only enjoyed the classics are a niche demographic.

Exactly, more than likely this stuff will be optional anyway. So to me this isn't that big of a deal and I think it will be a nice way to take a break from some of the fighting and a nice way to relax.

No, that's from the card game. The DS remake art's done by Masasume Shirow. That's not his style. The card game came out before the DS remakes.

I joked about this in Awakening and now its here lol. I mean I wasn't impressed with Awakening but this is silly. And as easy as it sounds I don't think Ill get it anyway.

It's rubbing a stylus on a 3DS screen.

This.

Camilla is too sexualized. Her design is ridiculous. They should tone it down before release. At this rate I'll probably play Hoshido.

Wait a minute. What are people upset about? Fire Emblem has always been about this kind of stuff. Have you seen the fanart it generates?

I loved the conversations in Awakening so I'm glad that whole system is being expanded on here, but the rubbing did make me pause for a second.

Game looks excellent, building up your camp is a great idea.

Why the hell is there a belt pointing up between her cleavage? She's also wearing a thong.

Lol at the belt pointing up, absolutely trash-tier, the reference is so clear.
But we shouldn't judge so fast, maybe there's an emotional and justified reason for why she's wearing that, just like bikini Quiet.

I still don't get why some patting and hugging in a very small side feature somehow destroys the game for some fans. I think it's blown way out of proportion.

I just hate pegasus knight armor design in general for the entire series, there's only protection for the shoulders and chest. And they ride with short skirts and thigh highs. My memory was faulty of Kita's designs (For some reason I thought Elincia was much more armored than I thought she was).

Big thing that Kita has over Kozaki, is that Kozaki doesn't do Uniboob on his nonsexualized characters (like Elfie)

Pretty much everything generates "fanart".

This kind of stuff though tends to allow people to get more creative lol.

My personal issue though is it feels like the strategic game play is very watered down in Awakening in comparison to the classics. That's why I feel like they've lost their focus. Maybe it'll change in this one--but I doubt it. They're set on appealing to a certain demographic where they make money.

Good on them.

I really miss the super detailed battle animations too. It doesn't seem like they're putting as much love into those either.
