Fire Emblem Warriors - Warriors' Awakening (new trailer)

Ofc more sword users.... And melee in general. This warriors seems like a misfire... I want it to be more diverse and better but it's not working for me.

There's only one sword user out of the four new characters, and one of them is a mage, so someone more akin to mid-range combat. Obviously there will be way more melee characters than anything else, it's the case in every Warriors game.

I can't believe believe Frederick made the cut, haha

The devs must be huge fans of Awakening's earlygame, which primarily focused on the Chrom/Frederick/Robin/Lissa dynamic (aka the best part of the game)

So if it's 5 characters per game, I wonder who they'll chose for Fates/SD.

PS: Tharja is DLC so you better pony up.

Mystery
Marth
Caeda
Tiki
And who the Fuck knows - Navarre is popular but SWORD
Draug - (Foot Spear)
Linde or Merric (most likely Linde)

Don't think Tharja is dlc, but will be a villain like Camus.

Draxal how could you forget about the supreme Queen herself, Minerva

They want people to throw money at this game so I doubt they'll make Tharja a villain. But villainy isn't really her thing.

I expect:

Caeda and Tiki from Shadow Dragon
Tharja and Cordelia from Awakening (if there's still more from that game)
Azura, Takumi and Camilla from Fates

Can't wait to see how wrong I am.

You know who also forgot Minerva, TMS #FE, and they made Palla the second queen of Fliers instead, so who knows.

I don't think Tharja is a villian perse, but she and gaius were the only enemy npcs that were recruitable in gameplay during Awakening. I'm betting they take advantage of that fact.

Lissa with an Axe?

Really?

Really?

What a shitshow.

latest

Axe lissa better come to heroes eventually.

That said I dunno if I'm ready for another musou game. Hyrule warriors is still nowhere close to complete for me.

Have they revealed any lance units?

From awakening, I don't see too many additional characters to add. They'll probably bring in Tharja.

From Fates, we've still got Azura and the rest of the royal families.

From FE1, we still have pretty much everyone: Ceada, Cain, Draug(?).

Sumia and/or Cordelia could work from Awakening.

I hope the Flavia and Basilio dream isn't dead.

Caeda is a lock.

Jeigan might get in as will Draug.

Azura and Hinoka are our best shots from Fates.

no but chrom was already shown to be able to use lances as well

Guess with Frederick there, it really lower's Titania's chances :(

Just give me Hector I guess

they've already said which games they're focusing on. shouldn't expect either of those, would be awesome though

I choose to optimistically interpret "focusing" as still having a few fan favourites from other titles!

War Cleric Lissa is amazing. I'll have to learn how to play her well because Lissa with a huge axe is never not going to be fun. I mean the optimal promotion in Awakening is probably Sage, but who goes for optimal all the time?

Frederick is nice for an axe cavalier, too. He does need the "Pick a god and pray!" line, though.

Lucina and Robin... eh, expected so they're nice, I guess. Robin could be fun with the tomes. There has to be a big Thoron spell that clears out all the enemies in a line in front of robin.

Oh snap, War Cleric Lissa? I still resent this game focusing on 1 13 and 14, but with this I am now considering the idea of considering picking it up after all.

Anyone from Echoes would be day one. I've given up hope for GBA/GCN characters.

This Frederick renaissance we're having right now is incredible. Finally the best FE character is getting his due.

This is Hour's Left world and we all live in it.
We've got a long way to go before I achieve complete Global saturation. This is a good start though.

Did they say whether characters will be able to use different weapons like in Hyrule Warriors. Link used a variety of weapons even though he was primarily a sword wielder. Everything from a Spinner to the Great Fairy. Same with some of the other main characters. The variety thinned out a little bit as DLC characters were added. Linkle got a pair of boots in addition to her crossbows.

In regards to Robin ... I'm going to assume he'll play like Lana did. It's hard to not pair them both up as having the same movesets since they are both Tome users.

Contrary, I can't imagine Corrin using more than the Yato Blade. There will probably be different levels of the weapon that will be represented in the different forms the Yato had in Fire Emblem Fates.

It would really help the variety if classes were applied to different characters. You see Lisa as an axe wielder but perhaps this game will introduce a limited way to either take different classes or upgrade classes like the recent Fire Emblem games do. Hopefully they will introduce some plausible alternative classes/weapons for the announced characters.

Surprised they haven't hinted the inclusion for any of the heroes from Shadows of Valentia just yet, as I would be down with playing as mage Tobin & mercenary Gray.

Palla, Catria, and Est as a 3-for-1 unit would be pretty cool.

I imagine Shadows of Valentia will be the first DLC pack with Alm and Celica and an Adventure map or whatever this game's equivalent is with either Ike or Roy as a bonus.

I figured they might make Robin magic only to reduce the number of sword users.

I hope this isn't the case. Not a deal breaker, but my hype will seriously be deflated if that's the case. I primarily used him as a badass swordsman and was, by far, my most dominating unit in that game. I used magic sometimes, but the versatility of the unit is what made him fun to me. I hope they didn't knee-cap him by pigeon-holing him into a silly mage spec.

I liked this trailer, and I'm glad to see some of the other Shepherds get into the game.

Makes me wonder if the next two trailers will focus on Fates and then Shadow Dragon

It is kind of neat how he's become one of the "pillars" of Awakening

Deserved, because Frederick is hella cool

Yes, he is. Awakening is full of great characters that don't get enough attention due to Lucina and Tharja hogging all the spotlight.

I'm hoping this means that Frederick is taking his place as a core FE rep for expanded properties that utilize this IP.

If characters are going to appear with different classes, I hope Tharja is released as a sword-wielding dark knight.

In before Bride Class.

You don't need to catch me in technicalities. I get you want this game to be hype but the amount of interesting non-traditional melee/ non-melee characters in Hyrule Warriors was to be applauded. If they stuck to that design doc for FEWar I would be much more hype. Axe pretty much means Sword in my book. It's a shame and a valid criticism.

Lissa really? I know that War Cleric is a possibility for her but seeing a 15 year old girl in a dress and pigtails wielding a two handed battle axe... of all the axe users they could choose they decide to go with the little girl in a dress and pigtails...

Lissa was nowhere near the top of who I was hoping to see in the game but that sort of juxtaposition is exactly why I'll allow it.

I don't understand how it's valid, when you're saying that any melee weapon isn't good. Axe is a sword? I don't even get that.

You say that as if little girls can't use two handed battle axes...

And this one is barely 11! /sarcasm

Mind you it isn't like I don't get the hate. After all, if we are to take this seriously, Lissa is technically OUR FIRST AXE USER TO BE REVEALED FOR THIS GAME! In that sense alone, I can see where people can raise concerns since if there was at least one or two other Axe users revealed before hand, you could at least argue that no one would care as much about Lissa using an axe as they are right now.

Edit: I'm trying to think of any "Joke characters" in Fire Emblem, but I can't think of one at this immediate moment. I could say it would be like if "Donnel was revealed to be the first spear user for this game," but it isn't like he is a joke character since he can become a nightmare if you train him well.

So we've got...
- Lissa with an axe (interesting if she's being considered a war cleric in this game)
- Freddy with an axe (taking a page from FE Heroes rather than giving him his default lance but whatever)
- Robin (my Birb) is a mage (of course though still curious if he'll get use of a sword)
- Lucina (sword of course and I miss Laura Bailey voicing her...)

Now that we've got these guys confirmed, I'm ready to see some heroes from Shadow Dragon as well as DLC that will probably feature heroes from other FE games please.

Oh and was already buying this so I just wanted confirmation of both Robin and Lucina, which I just got with this trailer.

Boring melee is boring melee. Do you understand that? The hack n'slash formula was a lot more varied in HWar than it is presenting itself to be in FEWar.
