Firmware 3.0 broke my Uncharted!

So i got Uncharted yesterday, played fine got through a third of the game in one sitting. Update came out, installed it, shook my head at the large text and went to sleep.

Boot up the PS3 this morning to play some UC and the game freezes 5 minutes in. Odd but no big deal right? Restart it and same damn thing!

Now some people told me i might need to delete the game data (not the save file) which I did. No luck, tried a new game and managed to get a couple chapters in and boom, crash.

Apparently I'm not the only one this is happening to, the UC gamefaqs boards are full of people having the same issue after firmware 3.0. Does anyone here have the same issues?

Sony is innovating, first firmware to ever break games?

Eh, was meaning to delete my UC data anyway; I wanna go in fresh so I can flow right into Uncharted 2.

Sucks for others, though.

HOLY MOLY, omg, how do I revert this firmware to previous? I am still playing uncharted currently, if it screws up my file i will be mad! I am not continuing uncharted until i hear more info on this.

I wouldn't blame Naught Dog, afterall they aren't the ones responsible for testing the firmware update. The game worked flawlessly before, direct your hate at Sony on this one!

I noticed that some of my pictures that i took in LBP pre-3.0 arent working anymore, but thats about it.

Not Uncharted, but my Batman AA was stuttering through some of the Bink video prerendered cutscenes, which I imagine normally shouldn't happen, and crashed when I tried to exit to XMB when I was done playing for the night. I had to manually turn it off with the switch in the back because even holding the power button wouldn't do anything.

I guess we'll know if 3.01 comes out soon 3; If it is a problem with the new firmware I hope it comes out sooner rather than later. Otherwise I have to start fearing for my 60gig ;'(

Mine works just fine, I loaded a file from a year ago and played 2 chapters no problem!!!!!

Doesn't mean you're in the clear for sure, Best I've done is get 3 chapters in after starting a new game. Thought for sure it was fine but then boom, crash time!

Keep playing, you might have issues as well.

Edit: Awntawn, I heard that reinstalling the game works for Batman. It seems 3.0 did something to mess with harddrives.

We're 4 years into this generation and you people are still clueless.

:lol Why don't you try it out?

Firmware 3.0 did break my Wipeout HD's sound (playing with fury add-on for any curious folk)

EDIT:

Upon further inspection, cross that out... Firmware 3.0 only destroyed my PS3's ability to output dolby digital 5.1. Hey Sony, I kinda wanted that.

EDIT2:

And now, after a round of fat princess (which was outputting in PCM) my ps3 decides it will start outputting DD5.1 again. I think I dislike this more now, knowing that my machine can just randomly decide to not output in surround sound.

My friend is reporting this. I lent him Uncharted, and it freezes whenever Drake goes to look through the telescope on top of the tower.

Where are you at? Because there IS a game-freezing glitch late in the game that was never resolved.

It first happened in chapter 6 after you get the key from the tower, in the outdoor combat scenario. But it happened on chapter 3 and 4 when I restarted.

People on gamefaqs are saying it's happening to them in ANY chapter.

First thing I thought about.
Well it looks like people are reporting it freezing at various points in the game so it does seem something is wrong. When I first heard there was a problem I put it in to see if it would happen to me, and while I didn't freeze it was running noticeably choppier than usual.

Is this just on the older ones or the newer ones? A friend of mine bought Uncharted as his first game with his Slim... :lol That'd be a not-so-good first impression.

Could you be more specific? I don't think I'll play the first Uncharted again in the near future, but they had better not mess with Wipeout.

edit: Oh, well that's also interesting.

I have the Uncharted 160gb bundle.
I doubt it's the game.

I remember playing it once I got my ps3 and it was flawless.

Im replaying it now for trophies and HD (had a SD back then...)

It may or may not be related, but Crash Commando just crashed on me after installing 3.0... I don't know if it's the game, or FW 3.0, but CC has never crashed on me before.

So apparently you cant revert to older firmware! so wtfreak am i supposed to do, not play and finish Uncharted? I am almost done. This is horrible.

Buy a new PS3 and don't upgrade it

Your save file isn't going to be damaged, I'm pretty sure.

What made you think you could revert to older Firmware? This has never been a possibility on anything.

Same thing happened to me. I uninstalled the game date and after a couple of reinstall attempts it worked. It froze twice more after that though.

Annoying as hell. I'm trying to get the plat!

That's really strange, I finished Uncharted on Crushing today, I played maybe the last 3 chapters today, I updated my system, started the game and finished it.

What ever this is hope they get a fix soon.

A little off topic, but has there been any mention of a bonus in uncharted 2 for those that beat uncharted 1 and have a save file of it? ND should give the people that supported them something extra, even if it's a costume or something...give us a treat

Wait, what?!
What output are you on, optical or hdmi?

Can we get confirmation from others on this?

(I haven't yet updated, and sure won't be now)

Wow this firmware just keeps on giving it seems! It definitely messed up something in the HDD, My Stardust HD just crashed.

Basicaly it makes the system useless! Official bricking!

Reconfig your audio options. They added some new settings that are probably conflicting with your previous settings.

I have no problems so far with my 60gig launch.

My system defragged automatically after the update though. (rebuilt database).

.

Phew, I havent upgraded yet and I am about 1/3 through Uncharted. Good thing I read this thread. I won't upgrade until I finish Uncharted

WELL, gonna play chapter 6 right now and see if it crashes on me.

Is it possible to force mine to defrag, and if so how?

Well don't tell the kiddies on the PlayStation forum. They're already having a shitfit just about the grey boxes on the friends list, the startup sound, the large font and the scrolling info box and ohgod what else.

Same here, 60gig, rebuilt database, no problems. Though all I've done today is play Rock Band 2. I was going to start Uncharted soon, so if there is indeed a problem with it, I hope they take care of it quickly.

Ugh. I'm about 70% through a Crushing run that I've been working on for the last two weeks, I'll be pretty pissed if I lose my progress.

YEAAAAAAAAAH I just played through the entire chapter 6 and no crashes for me. I don't wanna call this thread FUD...but it's probably a simple matter of a dirty disc.

Ack, so it's just a bugged installation then? But I installed it after I installed 3.0 ;o

In certain situations I could play through 3 chapters flawlessly and then crash. My disc is brand new and many others are reporting the same issue when there was none before. It's not just chapter 6 either, could be any chapter. I also doubt that my Stardust HD ''disc'' was dirty.

Edit: Game crashed within 3 minutes, same damn thing!
