haha that's what I did.
Used the new icons, kept the old background.

too bad the new theme didn't animate like we thought. :(


I hope the PS3 community starts cooking on themes ASAP! :D

They need to make the PSBlog their primary focus when it comes to telling customers news. I mean, they should use it for EVERYTHING. The information ticker should then only be a stream of news on the blog. I like the idea, though. Can you move it around the screen?
 
I thought the message board was cool. Considering the update was supposed to be out tomorrow.. maybe they will put something useful on it.
 
seriously this "information" bar just seems like it is an advertising tool for sony, maybe they'll make it useful in the future...i'd rather have xvid support...
 
That download was sure fast, either my nearest PSN server was upgraded or else the 2.0 update was not a full firmware flash or something, because that was way under 5 minutes. Probably closer to 2-3.
 
REALLY enjoying the sorting features. I'll get to them in a second.

But I also love how you can darken your backgrounds up to 5 shades! :) Seriously! I didn't think they'd do that!

Also, it's interesting how Manichi no Isso, or whatever that free PSN Cat game is, doesn't let you sort it away into albums. Everything else does.

By the way, if you want to save time (And you don't have a keyboard) you can album everything with 'D' then later JUST RENAME THE FOLDER and all the items inside get titled correctly.

Info board doesn't seem too bad, I can handle it. (If you don't like it, at least you can turn it off, unlike with the 360 and the huge ads)

However, can't try remote play boot because I'm on 3.71 M33-2, but I set it up to. I don't like how I had to enable auto-login to do it. :-/ Seems like it should handle multiple PSPs on multiple accounts on a single PS3, for the family. Oh well. Not a big deal.

Default theme is nice. Hopefully it's easy to import our own, just like on the PSP. And you can group EVERYTHING, even game saves. Memory card sorting didn't change at all, though, didn't really need to.

PSN network category is awfully lonely.

I wonder if it made Buzz not crash anymore or Singstar work with swapdiscs... Hmm. I'll go try!

maybe it just lets people know there are games because they surely weren't aware before
 
There is also more grouping options for Audio and I checked the Store. The hand icon has changed and it seems a lot more responsive now. I'm guessing the browser got an update.

It's a neat idea but the info bar is making the XMB lag when I come out of certain options because it seems it has to reload/reconnect all the time. Turning it off. :(
 
Theme is cool. Somethng different. I guess there will be a few for sale on the store this week. I would probably by an uncharted theme for $1.99.

Ticker would be great if I never spent time on GAF and didn't know the latest as soon as its announced. But to me it's useless.

Don't be ready to buy themes yet. On the PSP we can make our own. No point in spending $2 if you can get it for free.
 
can someone help me here? I'm having a hard time making three separate sort folders in the game section- i.e. one for PSN games, one for PS1 games, one for demos... :(
I can only do two folders...
 
Currently updating the cat game, but add me (M3wThr33) if you want to try video chat in a bit!

I made 5 folders (Demos, PSN Demos, Purchased, Special, PS1)

Just make sure you give it a new name in the game itself under information and it'll go to the new folder. It handles merging names fine, too. (You can sort by recently played now, too)
 
damnit, when you press the PS button during a game the background is still black. I thought it would be the color I chose
 
You can pretty much stream trailers from the store while still downloading now!!!!

You can't seperate demos and psn games, only ps1 games and ps3 games.
 
Changed my icons. Kept my background. :)

They updated the web browser so it uses the latest version of flash.
 
Oh, something else. Using a keyboard, F1 pulls up the info menu just like Triangle and Esc goes back, just like Circle, and the arrow keys work like the dpad. Much faster than using a controller. (Not new, but some people might not know)

So, is everyone in agreement the network is a lot faster, too?
 
Info bar is pretty worthless right now, but someone mention it if they get actually interesting stuff on there so I can turn it back on. ;)

I like all the little tweaks, and the customization options are more detailed than I thought. Someone make a nice icon for the new Playstation Network, the icon is has is HIDEOUS and is the only one that doesn't change.

The store is definitely faster for browsing. Still kinda ugly and not terribly navigation friendly, but speed is always good.


And :lol at the video chat TONX invited me into. I need to get that EYE just so I can chat with my niece, apparently she loves seeing herself on TV and always grabs their cat and tries to make the cat look into the camera for some reason.

It's not really a game. It's this sorta news program/decorate-a-house program that's on the Japanese PSN. Any true PS3 owner has an account for AT LEAST the UK, USA and Japan, not to mention possibly Australia (For music videos) and Hong Kong. (For leaving up PSN demos and sometimes having English versions of JPN content.)

The new vid chat is cool. Its the white room from the commericals, haha. its ALOT more user friendly. i really dig it.

couldn't find the original post, but I agree. I've been hoping they tweak the hell out of this browser... it really can't be that hard can it? I just want a solid fast browser, I've already got a wireless mouse and keyboard set up, so I could probablly just use that instead of this to post and browse.

What happened to the disappointed people bitching about no ingame XMB? Sounds like their dev time still went into making people happy.
