Firmware Version 2.00 - Official Press Release

Does anyone have a direct link to the FW update on a sony server? I tried updating the date on this URL: http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation...9c95692d4dd1c1e17c2b0ce5dcaebba1/PS3UPDAT.PUP But it didn't work, I don't think I'm doing it right. Is it up on the Jp server?
Try getting it from the Australian site, perhaps? Do firmware updates from other regions work?

A PS3 owner online said that he can now recharge his headset while the console is on standby... can this be confirmed? If so, does it also apply to controllers? (It's not a big deal as I can use any USB-supported device to recharge, but it would be cool nonetheless.)

All of my USB equipment (including the PS Eye) were still on after turning off the PS3, even without the remote play on. So I'm fairly sure he's right.

One more thing : My launch PS3 unit is much more quiet now than before !!
When i was on XMB prior to this FW , my console was in phase 3 in a couple of minutes.
Now it's stuck in phase 1 for almost 1 hour right now ! :D

Indeed. Just noticed that as well (about the PS Eye).

Controller IS NOT charging tho. And I have the system in remote start / stand by.

Is there a site where I can get all the themes? I noticed after the download there was only 1 theme. I'd like to do it latter on from my PS3 (if possible) so they all get installed correctly!

I've done that on mine, and after updating my PSP to the latest FW, I can't remotely wake up my PS3. Note, I'm trying to do this from within my LAN.

I wonder if my network setup is the problem. I'll be pissed if I have to forego enhanced security just to use the remote turn on/off.

You have to turn "Wake On LAN" on in the remote play options screen once you download the update.

I did that. I know it's enabled because I can ping my PS3 even though the damn thing is off!

PS Eye still on while the PS3 is on Standby? Wake on Wave your Hands, coming soon? Or just surreptitious surveillance of PS3 users?

Probably a few new themes on the PSN Store today.

Ok.

Media server - Disabled
Remote Start via Internet - Checked

PS3 automatically turns on after around 8 minutes.

It's definetly the Remote Start via Internet option that causes unwanted auto-starts. If I uncheck it (meaning I can remotely start the PS3 only locally via Ad Hoc WiFi PSP-PS3 connection) it stays off.

TTP, as it was discussed several pages back, the auto-turn-on from Wake-On LAN is caused by router settings and/or NIC/discovery pings from the router.

can you update for ps3 with firmware from other regions? if you can that would save me sometime because im at work right now.

Yes. The FW is exactly the same throughout the world.

For those who are getting weird Wake-on LAN performance (ie. turning on randomly), can you the following test: from another computer in your intranet, ping the PS3's network address.

Is this information 100% correct and proven? Wouldn't want my PS3 to brick because of this...

I'm not tryin to be a dick... but I remember a while back somebody installed the JP firmware and it caused problems for them.

Sweet update.

Putting everything in folders very helpful
The theme looks pretty darn good imo.
The play videos while download is great and worked almost instantly.

Remote Play doesn't work via the Internet for me. Does anyone know why? It works via Intranet.

Do you have all the correct ports forwarded through your home router? The manual says you need to forward TCP or UDP port 9293 but I've seen other reports via Google that indicate three TCP and 3 UDP ports. I set it up with those 3&3 and I can connect via the internet to my PS3.

The manual entry for Remote Start also only mentions 9293.

Worked now, it was a bit weired, because I had to start the PS3 again to make it work after I shut it down via remote play via intranet. is it normal that you can only start it once?

I think someone posted earlier that they tried it from home but over the internet and the first time they try to connect, the PS3 turned on but the PSP connection timed out. After they tried to connect the second time right afterwards, the PS3 was on so it worked.

i just checked my PS3 and 2.0 is not available for download....neither is Uncharted. >_<
Uncharted isn't up yet. Try restarting your PS3 to see if it detects the new FW then.

Which quality do you use for Internet-Remote Play? It's a bit laggy...and streaming hd movie files doesn't work too great.

Anyone notice that Divx files no longer show up as "unsuported data" on the media server. I mean they still don't play but they no longer show up like before.

Any word on if the FW decreased the amount of RAM reserved for the OS?

FW doesn't do that. SDK updates do. They are independent of each other and the SDK usually gets updated months ahead of the FW.

Correct "doesn't work great" with "doesn't work at all anymore".

I can't get online anymore with RFOM, since I installed 2.00 this morning. I hear more problems with this... You guys????
