First footage of The Conduit (Wii)

I loved the game, had so much fun with it...but the visuals were pretty mixed. It always looks pretty good to me even at its worse, but at its best it was really nice. This game does seem to look better than red steel as a whole(at the moment), but then again, it should.

Red Steel 2 will be the shit though...maybe they will finish it this time :lol

I certainly enjoyed a lot of red steel, mostly the shooting bits, I could have do without the sword fighting to be honest.

I got stuck on some ninja dude when they were attacking the Dojo, I gave up then. There was also a few bugs when trying to select a mission, I couldn't actually select it. Pissed me off.

Yeah, that was certainly one bugged up ass game. The flying enemies were the worst...but that made it kind of fun since it was so bad :lol

Like mega man 1 boxart.

Well, the AI sure looks craptastic. The first five seconds of that trailer are a Vader-masked Matrix agent missing a shot, then standing perfectly still while the player takes two seconds to reload and blow his chest off.

Well I like what I'm seeing. I like how the art style is nice and colorful, not drab and monotone like many shooters are nowadays.

Excellent interview. A from-the-ground-up pointer/waggle functionality implementation is a fantastic selling point for me, and they have some quality examples to draw from, ei MoH and Corruption.

They are going about developing/advertising/hyping The Conduit the correct way; not announcing certain features until they are certain said features/modes are at a qualitative state. /cough SK

Outside the PC platform, I don't normally play very many FPS on consoles, (Halo, Corruption and Medal of Honor for Wii being the exceptions) so I am pulling for High Voltage and hope they get a publisher who is willing to go the extra mile in advertising.

I think that in their next game, they need to go for something in a confined place that way they can really make nice enviorment, sort of like Metroid (in some instances) and Bioshock did.

It looks like a fun shooter, but the enviorments are just bland and lack any detail. But it seems these guys have potential.

It's from the E3 demo where the AI wasn't really in place so that journalists could feel good about themselves.

They now have a composer, press release from quite a few sites

Composer behind Transformers, Resident Evil: Extinction scores The Conduit

Hoffman Estates, IL - September 9, 2008 - High Voltage Software, Inc., one of the world’s largest independent developers, today officially announced that their stunning first-person action shooter, The Conduit, has been scored by famed composer Diego Stocco.

Diego Stocco’s music sound design credits include movies such as Transformers, Resident Evil: Extinction, Crank, Jumper, Lady in the Water, and videogame soundtracks for Justice League Heroes and SoulCalibur IV. His commercial credits include Nokia, Samsung, Panasonic, BMW and General Motors.

“Working with Diego was such an enjoyment,” said Michael Metz, Audio/Visual Director at High Voltage Software. “When I heard the first track he made for The Conduit, I literally got the chills, it was exactly the mood and mix of sound design and music we were looking for.”

“The Conduit unveils incredible scenarios during the game, with a richness in terms of details and action that is very inspiring for a composer,” said Stocco. “I’m very excited to be part of The Conduit; it’s the kind of project that makes me push the envelope in terms of sound creativity.”

The Conduit won several awards following its appearance and demonstration at E3 2008. IGN.com gave it three awards, including Best Shooter Game of E3 2008 (Wii), Best Graphics Technology of E3 2008 (Wii), and Best Overall Wii Game of E3 2008. GameTrailers.com also gave it Best Wii Game of E3 2008.

The Conduit is scheduled for release in Q1 2009 exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.

I would LOVE for EA to pick up this game, but I feel like it's a looong shot

I'd like to see THQ pick it up if EA doesn't. They're supporting the Wii better than most publishers (outside of shovelware, I mean).

I'm guessing their publisher (who they may be revealing as early as this week, if I remember correctly) picked up the check on this one?

So did they reveal the name of the publisher in the end?
I didn't keep up with the news...
SEGA

Edit: that post was from two months ago...

Anyway, the new vids look pretty good, though I think some of that footage is reused from older trailers...

Which part of this game is the good part?

In spite of my rhetorical senses tingling, I'd say the best part for me is the controls (or rather, what i'm looking forward to most), it seems to control excellently in the videos

The part where it is an FPS on Wii which can hopefully match Quake 2 in terms of game modes and has better than PSP graphics.

Well, as long as The Conduit is longer than 8 hours in single player and maintains a modicum of non-linearity, then it'll be easily better than every other fucking FPS on the HD consoles.

Yeah I went there.

Still not terrible impressed.

The engine is technically impressive but I still don’t like their artistry. The levels shown are particularly bothersome. Everything is so dully flat-lit. If they have to fucking bake shadows to add some environmental shadow variety then they should, because as it stands everything looks like it’s being lit by a single light shining directly on it.

It's it turns out pretty solid then I'll pick it up. I'm pissed there's no split-screen though. I certainly hope there is replay value beyond online, whether it be unlockable content or whatever.

You're right. Except for Bioshock. But don't get your hopes up too high (although mine are, actually). FPS design in this day and age means linearity 90+% of the time.

Now see, that gametrailers interview was the first time I've ever really seen a significant improvement in graphics. The explosions were a lot better, which was one thing that bothered me from the older builds.

Interest +1

It's nice to see FPS games on Wii. Especially FPS game that pushes the limits of the Wii. Unfortunately The Conduit doesn't sound or look too interesting to me. I still hope this will do well because I wan't more shooters for my Wii.

Wait theres no split screen mutliplayer? Since when?

I don't think it ever had this option. It was too much for the Wii hardware. There is still lan option in this game.

My favourite FPS games are linear, so yay I guess. If The Conduit ends up being half as good as the very linear Half Life 2 then it would be awesome.
