This looks interesting enough. The trailer was pretty good.

I understand there are also Thor, X-Men, Deadpool, Green Lantern movies coming soon? I'm always up for a superhero movie anyway.

For me:

Great

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight

Good

Iron Man
X2
Blade
Blade 2
Spiderman 2

Average

X-Men
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
The Incredible Hulk
Hulk
Iron Man 2
Superman Returns
The Punisher

Poor

Spiderman
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Waste of Life

Daredevil
Elektra
Spiderman 3
Fantastic Four
Blade: Trinity
Punisher: War Zone

This isn't including really old stuff because I haven't watched any of that since I was a child. I need to give the Tim Burton Batman movies and the Superman movies another viewing.

Mood obviously affects how much you enjoy movies. But even with these movies, the only ones I've rewatched are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, X-Men, X2, Spiderman, Spiderman 2, Blade, Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity.

I wonder if I rewatched some of the others, would they fall in my opinion?

Spiderman is a good example of this. I recently got the triple pack blu-ray for a cheap price. I watched the first and was surprised why I ever thought it was a good movie. The first time I watched it, I was a kid. It's been years. I don't even want to watch Spiderman 2 again because that's also a movie I haven't seen in a few years. I'm thinking I won't take too kindly to it. Especially because I think Tobey and Kirsten are horrible. It was easier to accept them as PP and MJ, even though they were grating, when I was younger. Not so tolerable to the whole timid Peter Parker portrayal. It irritates me.

"Uh, I would say, that, uh, Mary Jane, uh, is beautiful, uh, and that, uh, she could, uh...do...uh...anything she, uh...wanted...uh..."

So bloody cringeworthy.

you forgot the first round of Batman movies from the 90s as well as Cat Woman. Most of which should be in the "Waste of Life" category.

good bless you. It just...when the planes hit the water at like 300mph and turned into subs. I just couldn't take it anymore and turned it off.

he's right...and wtf no Scott Pilgrim love on that list??? Maybe he's just doing marvel/dc superhero movies. I see you didnt even bother naming the glorious X3 Last Stand...hmmm???

anyway..im getting tingles Red Skulls gonna be awesome...

wonder if Zemo and Zola will be in the film.

Scrawny Steve Rogers looks a little off for some reason. Some of the shots look like straight rips from Sky Captain, and that's not a good thing. Otherwise, looks fairly decent. Still looking forward more to Thor and Green Lantern based on director pedigree alone, but this doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Still, The Wolf Man and Jurassic Park 3 also had great trailers.

They both look good! Now let's finish up these appetizers and get to the main course!
So the only stinker is looking to be Green Lanter....I can live with that. I still think Thor looks BA if they hit that magical blend of comedy and action.

I think it's more about your own baggage though not the quality. Like people are pretty familiar with Chris Evans so a scrawny Evans just looks weird. I think a person who hadn't seen the dude before might not get that same sense necessarily. I felt the same way but have seen him in a lot of stuff always buffed out so a scrawny version of him looks weird whether it's CGI or not.

Anybody go into the trailer not knowing him? And how did it look to you if so.

I need to rewatch those. I watched the Batman movies a really long time ago when I was between the ages of 5 - 10. Same with Superman. Been over a decade since I've seen them. Way too much nostalgia and childhood memories tied to both to rank them without rewatching them. I liked the first two Superman movies as a kid. Same with Batman and Batman Returns.

Though, I'm comfortable putting Batman Forever and Batman & Robin in the Waste of Life category for me. I didn't like those back then either.

As for Catwoman. Never seen it. Don't want to either.

It would go in the great category for me. I loved it both times I saw it. Not as much as BB or TDK though. ;)

Oh snap.

I completely forgot X-Men 3. I was pretty sure I included it. That was a Waste of Life for me. I honestly hated it. It was all over the place.

Scott Pilgrim, I thought was average. It didn't click with me like it probably did for you.

I'm pretty sure that covers all superhero movies I've seen. Except for Kick-Ass. That was pretty good.

Now, I think everything has been covered. But I doubt it. Whenever you do something like this, there's always something you inevitably forget.

Edit:

Kam's list... holy fuck. Wolverine over the first Spider-man? Are you okay?
Wolverine I saw with some friends. I remember having a laugh. I can comfortably say it was a decent time. Movie was stupid fun for us.

Spiderman I have rewatched several times. My impression of it today is that it sucks. An impression I'm sure I don't see changing.

Granted that's unfair to Spiderman but it's not like I'm trying to convince someone how good or bad these movies are. Outside of Blade, Blade 2, BB, TDK, Spiderman, X-Men, X2 and Iron Man, I couldn't even argue such a thing. Those are the only movies I've seen several times.

This is how they were on the entertainment factor for me. That's how you should take my list.

I am thinking in terms of Quality (Descending):
Captain America
Thor
Green lantern

The sad thing is that green lantern is my favorite character of the bunch.

It's ironic that its called Captain America, yet they keep downplaying the costume and show so little of it. I guess that's because they know that there is no real way to make the character look cool.

BTW, the blue in the outfit should be darker. The blue in the US flag is not that bright.

*copies, pastes*

Yeah, the floating head wouldn't work even if they did it better just because (although Evans has, potentially, the face of an innocent weakling) his jaw and neck are noticeably muscular. He should have cut weight before pumping up to look emaciated.

That said, it's totally awesome that he's just a big slab of meat, a la the action start of 1910s-1950s film. It's perfect, and the design fits into the stylized version of the period. I like it a lot.

I think you're vastly underestimating the level of costumery in the World Wars period.

I have a theory that the Super Soldier Serum was always a bust, Steve Rogers just discovered Charles Atlas while reading his comic books

This looks great. I love the campy direction with the high production values. It's the way to do Captain America right if you're going to do a WW2 origin movie. Soooo looking forward to this.

The second. Just him and John Slattery in IM2.

There was actually a guy who played Howard Stark in IM1, but it was in like the newspaper/magazine clips montage. They recast him for IM2 because the guy wasn't really an actor. :lol

I'd also say the 2 Howard Starks are probably 20-30 years apart in age.

Yeah, I guess I vaguely remember a Howard Stark in IM1.

Tony Stark states in Iron Man 1 that his father worked on the Manhattan Project and helped defeat the Nazis. So it seems consistent to have him here.

Here's what the slate looks like:

2011
Thor
X-Men: First Class
Green Lantern
Captain America

2012
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
The Avengers
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Dark Knight Rises
Superman: Man of Steel

2013
Iron Man 3

In-production, not yet dated
The Wolverine (likely 2012)
Runaways (likely 2013)
Deadpool
Ant-Man
Daredevil reboot

Little Steve looks off, but everything else looks great.

And in IM2, Cap's shield (or one of them) is among his father's stuff.

Hm, thank you for that.

Surprised there's a sequel to Ghost Rider. It did well, I take it? I didn't like the first one.

I'm not sure why I thought Deadpool was coming so soon. Maybe because I hear it being talked about occasionally. Nicest surprise by far is that X-Men is coming this year. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Xavier and Magneto. It should be good.

Edit:

Holy crap.

X-Men is coming in June. Watching the trailer now.

I downloaded the 1080p trailer and took some screencaps... I wanted to see if they were really just taking Chris Evans's face and compositing it onto a smaller actor's body, or if they were taking steps to alter his facial features. Seems to me they've definitely altered his jawline, and maybe his ears? What do you think GAF?

So weird seeing Chris as a skinny dude. Not used to it at all. On the other hand, technology is amazing and they've done a good job.

Looks better than I expected. On the one water shot i thought they included Namor and got giddy the Intruders were going to be in the movie.

Where's bucky??

Never really been a Cap fan, but yeah, I'm for sure looking forward to this. Really really never been a Thor fan but I'm excited for that too. Should be a good summer for my type of movies, and it begins with Sucker Punch this weekend. Can't wait to get started!

Skinny Steve Rogers looks fine.

People will complain about anything.

I went back twice and couldn't catch what the complaints were. I don't get it either

Better than I expected and I'll definitely be watching since I love popcorn flicks.
