First Light sells over 1.5 million copies in first 24 hours

Good results. WOM and tit pics should carry it

imagination jerking off GIF

From the Insomniac leak Spiderman 2 needed 7 million copies to break even - and that was first party. Have to imagine that this would need a minimum of 5 million to break even, probably more.
I can't imagine it had anywhere near the budget of Spiderman 2, but it's easy gonna make money now off those type of sales.

What was the royalty on sales in the Wolverine leak? ~15%?

This announcement has a whiff of the MGS3 announcement about it. I could be wrong.

I'm really enjoying the ride. Glad others are enjoying it too.

My only complaint is those fucking colour coded "jump here" signposted bits in blue or white paint.

They wound me. Outside of that. Great game haha.

Must have been a hell of a lot of sales on consoles then, or am I tripping?

Some additional context

All-time CCU peak for Hitman 2016 was 51k

All-time CCU peak for Hitman WoA (what Hitman 1-3 are folded into) is 11k

Sure it's not 500k StS2 launch but by all means a hit for IOI standards

Good game, well deserved sales also worth mentioning they made the women in this game attractive which shouldnt be a surprise for James fucking Bond but modern game developers have boners for ogres

Well I'll pick up a copy regardless once it's dropped a bit. Still getting through Crimson :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Do we know the budget? 1.5 is 77 mil at 70$ - 30% platform fee.
They probably made more than half the budget.
As others said, this is a game that cost over 200 million over seven years.

It's a massively expensive game that needs to sell many millions to come close to breaking even.

But this is a very good beginning, it could be way worse.

Insomniac is from California, IO Interactive from Denmark, there is pretty big difference in game development costs. California is probably the worst place on this planet if you want to save some money lol

Take the $200 million budget with a big pinch of salt. All IOI said is that this game cost more than all the Hitman games combined, it is estimated that all the Hitman games combined cost around $180 million so journos began throwing the $200 million number around.
Since the Hitman number itself is also just an estimate, it might be close to that or it might be completely off the mark, anyway don't take it as gospel is all I'm saying.

I'm sure it's shipped. Usually they say sold through for actual sales.
I'm skeptical of these 24 hour announcements unless they specify. I could believe either in this case, but it's potentially a very meaningful difference depending on which it is.

If it's sold through it's pretty good (and we will likely get follow on milestones very rapidly). If it includes shipped it's all but meaningless.

Good thing they are no longer with Square or we'd already be hearing how it didn't meet expectations.

Congratulations. You're now qualified for a game publisher CEO position.

The true CEO quote would be:
"These single player games sold well, but just imagine how much more money they would have made if they were multiplayer live service games with cosmetic microtransactions!!!"

Why, 90%+ are digital steam or PS store.
