First Look at the New Spider-Man Costume

I honestly wouldn't have minded if they just skipped MJ for this 'take' on the franchise. I know she's f**king MJ and this is f**king Spider-Man etc but I like this Gwen, could have just kept her as the girl and I woulda been ok with it.

(or had Emma play MJ to begin with >_>).

I honestly remembered them making out more than once, but I could be wrong.

Naw man, one kiss. They almost kissed during that scene when Peter was injured and came into Gwen's room but Gwen was like, "Easy bug boy." and they just ended up swinging away together. Then they almost kissed again on the school bleachers but were interrupted by the football. The only time they actually kissed in the movie was after the dinner scene when he revealed his identity.

But I'm just splitting hairs, not trying to be a jerk or anything. I do think the two have pretty good chemistry, but their more intimate scenes together came off as somewhat sappy.

Besides the score, the action of SP1 was terrible.

None of it is thrilling or mirrored how Spidey should fight. I'd say the final fight in the old old church was the one redeeming fight scenes in SP1, but there wasn't anything special about that fight that no other here couldn't do. It's like they forgot about the fucking superhero they were making the movie for. I don't go to see a Spider-Man film to see him do shit any other average hero could do. The web gliding swinging was also terrible, and had no weight to them, CG was also way overused in Rami's film. There was a huge disconnect, exspecially since Tobey and the CG Spidey had a different physique.

ASM had some engaging action scenes, aside from that terrible luchador take down Spidey does on the car thief, lol. So bad.

The train fight scene is still feels ahead of it's time. I don't think I saw a comicbook movie with a fight scene that great up until that point.

I can respect this but that's precisely the reason I still dig the action in Spidey1. It's relative to where the character is up to that point. As in, he's a dude while having superior attribues, is still learning how to fight

This is completely the opposite with ASM where Garfield goes from skateboarding to Coldplay to going hand to hand with a giant lizard. There's like, no build up at all. It feels like pandering and the studio just trying to get the two on the screen togther finally.

The escalation from Green Goblin to Doc Ock was much better.

Gwen will die

It seems like they finally got the eye shape right.

And what's up with them not wanting the bright tone color of spiderman. Spidey's costume needs vibrant colors. That dark blue is too dark.

Understandable.

The skateboarding was atrocious, I mean, come on Marc Webb :-/

I actually legit lol'd when I saw him using Bing..

dat Sony product placement.

Coldplay shit wasn't as bad as the skateboard and him looking fucking stupid in that warehouse swinging on chains. My goodness, it was cringe worthy. You know, I would have much rather have had them bail out and make him get the idea of swinging by watching a Spider on his front porch, or Discovery Channel or some shit.

Like a lot of these filler scenes could've been used to develop Conners, but no, for some reason skateboarding and a 5min dunking on Flash scene is important (wouldn't have minded if it was shorter).

With that aside, I still very much so enjoyed the way they had Spidey moving during that fight scenes. Spider-Man is usually out matched by his foes, and won't win with just the basic punching and kicking. It was demonstrated pretty well with some of the Lizard scenes. The bridge scene was such a throw away imo, I think it killed it for some. He just kicks the Lizard and Liz proceeds to crawl away like a bitch. I know he had to save those people, but I'm just bitter because they used that crane guy later. Not using him or cutting out the bridge scene would've made the crane sequence more tolerable.

I can see the "build up" you're talking about. It's like when Doc Ock was going to go rob the bank in Spidey 2, then it cuts away to Peter in the bank with Aunt may. You knew some shit was gonna go down, and boy did it deliver. Or the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade right after Osborn got fired. It just shows some of the really bad pacing issues ASM had.

If anything, I feel like Sony fucked up more than Webb. Rami wasn't gonna deal with that shit after 3, so hey, hire Director who will!!

I think the new MJ is a very charmingly attractive lady.

Idk how people can say shes unattractive but then praise Emma Stone's looks but eh, to each their own I guess.

To me personally, it's her jawline that is a major turn-off as well as her smile but I won't judge her at all before I have seen her act her part as Mary Jane. Afterall, she might turn out great.

My favorite scene in ASM (and my favorite scene out of all the Spider-Man films) was when he wrapped Lizard in a web cocoon in the high school hallway fight. The way the score was building up, the webbing wrapping around and Spidey's crawling movements - it felt perfect.

I'll respectfully disagree. In my opinion, the direction, the casting, the story, etc. have all been bungled since the first film was announced. They even fucked up the tone of the first movie. I don't even know how that's possible.

Because some people like attractive women. New MJ needs heavy amounts of make-up and photoshop to look close to how attractive MJ should look. Yes, the new one looks like an average high school girl. Mary Jane was/is a supermodel, not an average high school girl.

Maybe they just cast her as MJ so when Gwen dies it is even more tragic, because we will be stuck with her. Or maybe they are going to switch it up and have MJ die instead. Honestly, with the ending of ASM it would be hilarious to have Gwen die. Or they will just use his colossal failure to make another "Spider-Man no more" scene(s).

This casting in this movie is fucking terrible. Rachel Hurd Wood should have been Mary Jane and she could have been had for cheap:

Again, they're just barely out of HS. She looks way too old by comparison to Gwen. Wouldn't work.

The casting pretty great, what makes it "fucking terrible" exactly (or are you just being hyperbolic)?

She's 20.

Garfield as Spiderman was one of the worst casting mistakes of last year in a mainstream film.

I can get on board with this.

I mean, I really disliked Tobey...but Garfield is strange for this. I can't quite say what it is though.
Not that I would have any idea who would be a better choice.

Says you. :p Who should they have cast? I have a feeling you're one of those people who would've taken issue no matter what. You finding the movie to be shit shouldn't equate to him being cast (or his performance) as shit.

His Spidey/SM was pretty much universally appraised, even on GAF where most didn't even like the movie itself. No one has been calling his casting a mistake.

Do you know any females? I have news for you, no one's reaching 'classic MJ attractiveness' without make up. That argument is the dumbest i've heard yet of why she's miscast.

For the billionth time, she is hot and looks the part, despite still being young and barely out of HS (see Ult. SM).

Main worry I have with MJ is how Webb is going to execute it (and her acting, since I don't know her). Her looks are the last thing i'm worried about.

As it should be in Mary Jane's case. She's a sex pot for god's sake. Not to mention that Wood is a fine actress.

Yeah, but jesus, some people are obsessing over the colour of her hair when that can easily be changed, any of the girls posted are pretty enough, I would worry more about whether they can act.

Andrew Garfield was the only thing saving ASM from complete mediocrity. Between that and someone saying Martin Freeman was a terrible Bilbo, I'm sort of wondering what Bizarro films you guys watched last year.

Never has the her?.gif been so appropriate. Spidey's reaction mirrors my own.

I'm sure your life has been irreversibly altered by who gets cast as a fictional character just because she isn't sexuality to the nth degree. To me, she looks a lot like "Ultimate" Mary Jane, which is after all what this is based on.

New MJ looks like a girl next door. I do hope they alter her role from the comics as well. Kinda sad they're already moving onto another romantic option. Was hoping for the Peter/Gwen relationship to go on.

It's okay, I'm sure Gwen won't be green with envy for long...

She doesn't look like that at all. At all.

Reading NeoGAF, I always thought that movie ("Amazing Spiderman") is the worst trash under the sun.

After watching it last week, I was pleasantly surprised. Don't know if this has to do with lowered expectations, but I think a couple of things in this movie were solid improvements over the Raimi-flicks.

Plus Emma Stone is so damn hot (and looks a lot like my girlfriend... Happy me... ;) ).

Well it's a piss poor portrayal of the character (Peter Parker) and Spiderman is mishandled ("I don't like masks"), the villain arch is awful and the most meaningful moment in the birth of Spiderman(great power great responsability etc) as the hero he is had all the air sucked out of it .

The movie doesn't have a whole lot of redeeming features really, I guess the relationship between Peter and Gwen was....quirky, so that was nice I think.

You can't make statements like that without providing proof.
