First Look at the New Spider-Man Costume

Do you know any females? I have news for you, no one's reaching 'classic MJ attractiveness' without make up. That argument is the dumbest i've heard yet of why she's miscast.

For the billionth time, she is hot and looks the part, despite still being young and barely out of HS (see Ult. SM).

Main worry I have with MJ is how Webb is going to execute it (and her acting, since I don't know her). Her looks are the last thing i'm worried about.

Yes I do, and I know some that look attractive without makeup. Or at the very least, without massive amounts of make-up and photoshop, which was my point.

Also. I have no idea why you posted that picture of Robin Williams.

Looking at all the stuff coming out about the film, I assume the only thing they are going to get right in this film is the costume?

Yeah, it's looking a bit shaky as far as having all these details are concerned. They could just be setting up some stuff for the third movie. I don't suspect Norman or even Rhino will factor too heavily into the movie in the long run (if all goes the way I'd like it to.) Mary Jane is questionable though. Hopefully there's a fair share more Gwen than MJ in this movie.

I kind of want these set pics of MJ and Peter to be among the final scenes in the movie, but who knows.

Peter should get an endorsement from Microsoft and have to wear a Bing.com shirt in the entire movie.

thats how he affords to get a new costume.

anyways, i dont like how MJ looks either, and theres way too many characters being confirmed.

but then i see that new Spidey suit and how cool the eyes look and it looks so awesome.

im torn, ASM was pretty good, so i will go see the sequel, but im getting Spiderman 3 vibes from it.

edit: oh god i just saw his new hair. WTF. it looks horrible.

Maguire was a good actor too. The whole trilogy was miscast. Especially that smarmy little shit from That 70's Show. You want to talk poor casting guys?! EXHIBIT A.

Now, I agree that Peter/MJ were miscast as well as Doc Oc, Venom, Sandman, etc, but JJ, Jarry and Norman were all perfectly cast.

I couldn't think of anyone better to pull off Green Goblin crazy than Dafoe and Franco was amazing as Harry. Not to mention that J.K Simmons put in an amazing performance as JJ. No-one will be able to replicate or be as good in the role.

Just replace Franco with Molina and i'd agree complete. Dafoe was an excellent over dramatic mad man. Apart from J.K Simmons, he was my favorite casting in Raimi SM's.

I remember when Emma Stone was cast for TASM and we all assumed it would be MJ because of the red hair. Then they pulled the rug out from under us and cast her as Gwen instead.

People wanted MJ again?

I'm sure it would've resulted in more bitching. Considering we had a terrible MJ in the last trilogy, she was okay in the 1st one. But man was she unlikable after that. Not to mention how they just tossed in BDH as Gwen in the 3rd one, she had potential.

maybe theyll make her likable this time

Dafoe and J.K. Simmons seemed to be the only ones taking the source material seriously with their roles.

J.K. Simmons WAS that character. it was like they animated the character straight from the comic. i really dont think anyone else could be that part.

yeah and Dafoe was pretty fucking creepy in SM1, wish his suit was better as GG though.

For real, he was BORN TO BE JJJ. I don't think another human being even exists that could play the Jolly one himself.

It's crazy, I flip flop on ASM so often I really don't know how I feel it. In some ways, it's completely forgettable and lifeless, which is just about the worst thing you can say about a movie. On the other hand, every time I actually sit down and watch the movie, I really enjoy it. The action is great. The Spidey scenes mostly outdo anything in the Raimi movies. And the acting is overall pretty darn good.

Some of the complaints I don't buy. I don't give a shit about him taking his mask off. I was fine with another origin story. The crane scene was no less cringeworthy than the New Yorkers on the bridge in SM1 or the citizens on the subway scene in SM2. None of that stuff bothers me.

Someone in this thread mentioned that the tone of ASM was wrong, and I think I'm inclined to agree with that. It was too dark, too serious, and was severely lacking in supporting characters from the Spidey universe.

Raimi nailed the tone of what a great Spider-Man movie should be. Light-hearted, slightly whimsical, with great supporting characters and good action. Spider-Man 1 and 2 got that down perfectly, whereas part 3 went too far over the top. The Sandman theme (the menacing one, not the Sandman birth piano theme) alone reminds me too much of the music from Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Almost like circus music.

So yeah, while I'm watching ASM it seems fine, but when I remember back to it there's just something off about the film.

They need to bring Simmons back for JJJ if he's in this film. I don't care if it's a reboot, if Bond can carry roles over a reboot, so can fucking Spider-Man.

I think this is more important than the casting of Spider-Man himself, even.

I wouldn't complain for a second if they just straight-up brought JK Simmons back. He's the one aspect from Raimi's films that I never heard a single complaint about, he was perfect.

No, no, it wasn't that we wanted MJ, exactly.

It just seemed obvious that red-headed Emma Stone would be cast as MJ, not Gwen. Most of us didn't really know that Emma Stone was a natural blonde back then.

I just hope, when they introduce the Green Goblin, that he actually looks like the Green Goblin, and not like some guy in a weird armour.

I think they'll be going more the Ult. SM route;

Which I don't know how I feel about... the lack of a glider would be disappointing, but at the same time it would somewhat make sense. BUT, having another green monster could also be confusing..

Or they could be really bold and go this route, but I doubt that'll happen either;

"If You Think Shailene Woodley Isn't Pretty Enough For The Amazing Spider-Man 2, You Don't Deserve The Movie"

You know why she doesn't look like the character from the comics, with an exaggerated waist and enormous breasts? Because she's a ****ing human being, with a bone structure and muscles and fat and all the things that allow her to move about in the world, not just to sit down and pose like a sex fantasy. The Amazing Spider-Man made a concerted effort toward making Peter Parker's world realer, making the flirtation between him and Gwen Stacy feel more authentic and even the costumes more realistic. Shailene Woodley, who showed amazing naturalism in The Descendants as well as her acclaimed Sundance film The Spectacular Now, ought to fit into that perfectly. To criticize her natural looks is to miss the entire aesthetic of the franchise as Marc Webb has re-imagined it.

It's not Shailene Woodley's looks that will make her role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 good; it is her talent. She's proven she's got plenty of it. Everything else is just noise from fans who idiotically expect their ink and paper "wet dream" to take human form.

I'm not saying I'm agreeing or not, just posted this for debate.

barf, simplicity people. I don't even know wtf these are anymore

I think they'll go down the USM path and portray him as a massive beast. Maybe he'll take the same formular that Connors took or something.
