First Super Mario 3D World review: 9.6 from IGN

Nintendo needs to learn how to improve their E3 showings. They had a good (maybe great) hand for the next 12 months but played it poorly for whatever reason.

Feel like a kid all over again waiting for Christmas. Talking of which, it'll be a fight with my little boy for the controller...

I'm one of those weirdos who didn't care for Xenoblade... overtly. Almost finished it, the battle system was fun, more so than say Lost Odyssey (at least early on). But everything else was forgettable. Actually liked Last Remnant on PC quite a bit, even if the story really didn't go anywhere, and the mechanics were so random and chaotic. Persona 3 and 4 are my JRPG Princes long standing.

Topical Freeze getting delay was properly for the best as it can breath on it own without clashing with 3D World.

The game's themselves objectively were fine, but how they presented them was dumb besides Smash Bros. suitably being the final showing with Mega Man. Even then, live-audience reaction would've been nice.

At this point I really think a normal E3 conference with those games, and stuff like Bayonetta 2, Monoloth's X and ALBW having their announcements held off until that conference would've helped Nintendo stand their own against MS and Sony. Sony didn't even have that many game announcements in the end anyway, besides the surprise FFXV and KH3 announcement. I don't think they would've been overshadowed with what were both mixed conferences from the competition if they'd decided against the (really poor quality) stream. Hell some places as a result seemed to think Nintendo skipped E3 all together since they didn't have a proper conference. Directs are fun and all for fans, but aren't a suitable replacement for proper trade shows.
 
Ah, I cannot wait for this game...I can't imagine it being a superior experience to Galaxy 2, but I don't even care...

I want to eat some crow, so very badly...the question now is...

What does EAD Tokyo do next? Isn't EAD Tokyo divided into two teams with Team 2 handling Galaxy 2, 3D Land and 3D World, with Team 1 doing...what?

Looks good, but... Is there a way to make the train be bursting out of the PS4? Like moving the whole train layer to the right?

As it is, the composition sort of treats the train as a "line" and your eye follows the line to the text of the PS4 ad, which isn't where the attention should be drawn.
 
got to play this on way to work they had a stall played some cat level ive never seen and the employee didn't know she had to hold her controller sideways

was fun they had Zelda too but didn't play it

I don't think many people would disagree that Nintendo should learn to "spice up" their presentations for the sake of the masses. Few people, if any, would argue that.

But the people on a dedicated gaming site should know better. They don't have to be very excited, they could even be wary of the game. But the vitriol the game got on this site was really unreasonable given who was making the game.

Game looks awesome and even with the PS4 in my future I will find the time to play this game.

People have to officially stop saying that Nintendo has a stale art style with Mario now. Yes, the main characters all still look similar. But the sheer variety of visual styles in the levels on display in just this video alone is maddening.

Man ... two next gen consoles launching within a week of each other, and Nintendo just steps up with the one two combo and just knocks the wind out of both of them. Mario and Zelda.

For the love of god people, if you call yourself a gamer, go buy a Wii U and support this. There are a dozen solid games to own now, and more on the way in 2014. It's worth it. They deserve the support now.

Before I say this I want to say i bought a Wii U at launch and support the console. That being said while the game looks impressive it isn't even in the talk for GOTY. That belongs to Bioshock Infinite, The Last Of Us, and GTA V unless there is significant stuff we haven't seen yet. To me it doesn't even come close to matching the greatness that is Galaxy 2.
 
Cannot wait for the wii u to get another price drop. I'll bite after and pick up Zelda, Mario cart, this game, SSB, and pikmin. Just waiting for one more price drop.
 
note to anyone (like me) who never grabbed galaxy 2, and have had a hard time finding it new at a reasonable price...its in stock at amazon for 29.99
