First Super Mario 3D World review: 9.6 from IGN

and still nobody is going to buy a wii u.

*edit : i don't mean to be shitty. just pessimistic. I already have a wii u and will probably buy this game.
 
Today I got the WiiU, so I'm really excited to play this game and AC4 during Christmas. I felt that I chose the best moment to own the console. Fuck yea.
 
I guess his landing really was that high.

ok, so this holiday season Nintendo's got the goods. on both platforms.

I fully expect the PR machine to go into beast mode now that they do.
 
damn ign was quick to shut down every link to the review guess i missed the party lol. Do we have word on when the embargo is lifted really want too see the review.
 
Looks absolutely rock solid. I don't expect this one to have a whole lot of variance in scores. Solid 9s and above.

Wii U has been a running joke but if it stays alive with hits like this, I'll grab one when the price drops further
 
As excited as I am for this game, a numerical score from IGN has the weight of a feather in my opinion of a video game. But at least the written comments and criticisms seem to make sense.

To get release day delivery, you must have prime, and select "Free 2-day shipping", when you place your order.

If you dont have prime, theres a 30 day trial.

In terms of Nintendo editors, Audrey was incredibly hyperbolic with her statements, overusing phrases like "jaw dropping" and "unbelievable" to the point where they became meaningless.

I ran into Rich and Jose at PAX, and it was extra weird since Rich didn't have his hat and I was taken aback for a second. He was pretty low key but really nice. Seemed like a good guy. Had a good long talk with Jose; real nice dude.

Yeah, but Audrey was nice to look at, so it evened out. =P Jose is an old EGM, and 1up.com editor, and guested on Retronauts for about a dozen eps. He's good podcasters.
 
I am actually very pumped for this game. I'm not a huge fan of the direction of Mario games in the last few years (since Sunshine), but this one is starting to really peak my interest. What I would do for an HD Mario 64, however...

She's a cool reviewer in my book.

But seriously though, I just loved how she sounded so enthusiastic in her reviews.
Was such a breath of fresh air compared to the other peeps on IGN. I'd always looked forward to her and colin whenever a video review came up.
 
Glad this surprised a lot of people including myself. Now I must grab a Wii U :D

I asked Amazon that very question... Person I spoke with said they hadn't "received inventory from the manufacturer" to be able to update the order. But when they get product in-stock, the order will be updated. I wouldn't worry about it.

I remember back when Galaxy was about to come out Matt Castlevania was saying how he wanted to score it lower than Mario 64 just because it came after it. He said the same thing about Metroid Prime 3. He said both games were the best in their franchises but he didn't think sequels could have higher scores. That guy was really full of himself. He also wanted to hold higher scores ransom for games like Zelda unless Nintendo changed things he didn't like like lack of voice acting.

People really need to narrow down what they mean when they list GOTY candidates. If you mean personally, that's kind of useless as any game could be someone's GotY and you don't really get to say it's a candidate. If you mean press overall GotY, half the games people list won't even be on the shortlist
