FitnessGAF: I need an emergency workout

Ok he's not fat, he's about 1m90 and weighs 60kg.
So the losing weight thing isn't an option.

He must be very skinny. Sounds similar to how I was a few years back (nearly 6 ft 4, so slightly over 1.9m, and 65kg) and I was really skinny and weak then - looking back on my pictures I look REALLY unhealthy.

As for exercise I would recommend working out with pullups to start, 5 sets or so of failure. Then throw a biceps exercise in, then 5x5 of some lat pulldowns and such, End with pullups again.

I would say weighted pullups but if he can only do 3 of bodyweight I doubt he'd have much chance with any kind of real weight?

Edit: Oh and just go amma on the protein and carbs I guess.
 
I mean the best he can do is do as many pull-ups as he can before the test day and see if he improved. 3 --> 10 is going to be difficult, but maybe he will have some newbie gains. He can probably get to 5-7 realistically.

Maybe do 3-5 sets of pull ups to failure every other day. Throw in some lat pull downs or rows as well.


But has he gotten to 3 after a lot of training? Or is this just his baseline without any training?
 
He's fucked. There's no way he can add 7 reps in under 2 weeks. He really only has 10 days to train since he should be fully rested before he attempts it

Ok so my buddy has to pass his fireman entrance fitness test in 12 days...

But there's one big problem, he can't do the required pull ups.
He has to be able to do 10. He can only do 3.

How can I help him to triple his strength in 12 days? Is he fucked?

I was thinking about making him do 5x5 reps on back shoulder and bicep exercises...
I have no idea how to tackle this problem, any advice?

Or just make him do weighted pull ups?

I'm sorry but he's not going to pass. From second hand knowledge I'll tell you it's better for everyone that he doesn't even try. At best embarrasses he himself and at worst he injures his fragile frame. He could try again next time but if he isn't taking his physique seriously now then he probably never will.
 
Why isn't anybody sharing the secret triple your strength in 10 days program? Selfish if you're keeping it to yourselves

edit: if he does creatin every morning it might actually give him some benefit. creatine is documented for strength in short intervals, not endurance. 2 weeks is enough to see an effect.

Just tell him to grow out his hair. Great warriors throughout history such as Samson, Rey Muauluga and Troy Polamalu have channeled incredible power through their hair.
 
1.90m and 60kg?! Lol make him EAT like mad. Like 3k-4k calories minimum while training his lat/biceps (depending which pull ups he has to do).

Yeah if he's going to expect and gain he needs to eat shit load more. Based in the numbers you gave he sounds malnourished.

I was going to recommend the "grease the groove" method which is similar to this. It work great for pullups. Have him do a bunch of mini sets spread throughout the day). If he can do a max of 3 pullups, have him do 2 pull ups like 12 times. Then 3 pull ups 12 times, etc.
 
No offense to your friend, but I don't think he has the muscle mass to be a fireman at this point in time. He needs to put on a lot more muscle.

I'm 1m60 and weigh 60 kg too (and i'm not even fat)

Why stop there? Surgically remove his head, preserve it and his brain then reattach it to a robot. He'll be stronger in everyway, and you can call him Robo Fireman.

Your buddies probably lacking a lot of upper body strength at that height n weight - he'll probably have problems with other parts of the test.

Lifting n dragging dummies, running with the hoses.. Yeah good luck
 
I'm sorry, but the whole point of a fitness test is that you have a discipline of working out. This person isn't disciplined and is trying to "cram" for fitness. Thus, he shouldn't pass the fitness part.

Hate to say it bluntly, but what else is there to say?
